Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are back on the beat with 24 Jump Street. The latest sequel in the comedy film franchise is in the works at Sony Pictures, with Hill, Tatum and Ice Cube in talks to return, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Rodney Rothman will direct the movie from a script he wrote with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who helmed 2012’s 21 Jump Street and its 2014 sequel, will return as producers alongside Neal H. Moritz. No plot details have been shared, and it is unclear why the number 23 was skipped over for the current film’s title. Lord and Miller, who helmed this year’s Ryan Gosling-led Amazon MGM Studios hit Project Hail Mary, marked their feature directorial debuts with 21 Jump Street, which had a script from Hill and Michael Bacall. A creative voice behind last year’s Ice Cube film War of the Worlds is offering his thoughts about the movie’s inauspicious critical response. Timur Bekmambetov, the filmmaker known for 2008’s Wanted and this year’s Chris Pratt-led Mercy, took part in a Reddit AMA on Thursday to promote LifeHack, which he produced. Focusing on a crypto heist, director Ronan Corrigan’s thriller hits theaters next week after premiering last year at SXSW. Among the questions posed to Bekmambetov were multiple queries about him having produced War of the Worlds, which hit Prime Video in July and loosely adapted H.G. Wells’ classic sci-fi novel about an alien invasion. Starring Ice Cube, Eva Longoria and Clark Gregg, director Rich Lee’s movie was critically eviscerated and currently holds a meager 4 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Los Angeles Rams drafted the sons of Ice Cube and Chris Tucker to recreate their famous father’s classic comedy Friday. O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Destin Tucker headline the reimagined take, titled Thursday, starring alongside Terry Crews, YG, Kevin Dotson, Jared Verse, Byron Young and Big Boy as part of the team’s newest installment of its draft campaign. It dropped today ahead of the NFL Draft next week on all Rams digital and social platforms. Friday, directed by F. Gary Gray from a script by Cube and DJ Pooh, came out in 1995 from New Line Cinema. It starred Cube as Craig and Tucker as Smokey, two friends who must come up with $200 they owe a local bully or there won’t be a Saturday. After a decade of development, Ride Along 3 is starting to see renewed momentum. Daniel Gold, who was a writer on the Netflix series Workin’ Moms, is set to write a new take on the buddy cop story, with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in talks to return for the Universal project. Also in talks to return is director Tim Story and producer Will Packer, the latter of whom is releasing the rom-com You, Me & Tuscany with the studio this weekend. Universal had no comment on the potential project. Hart and Ice Cube star in the film series as brothers-in-laws who happen to both work in law enforcement, each with drastically different levels of expertise, who often end up in the middle of Florida’s various crime underworlds. An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, Whitehorse joining White Cube makes her one of the few Indigenous artists to have representation with an international blue-chip gallery. Whitehorse is best known for dreamy, ethereal semi-abstract paintings that often feature light oil washes in gradients of just a few shades of color—blues, greens, oranges, reds, for example—that are filled with marks of flora and fauna.
