Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube Return for Sequel

Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube Return for Sequel

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are back on the beat with 24 Jump Street. The latest sequel in the comedy film franchise is in the works at Sony Pictures, with Hill, Tatum and Ice Cube in talks to return, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Rodney Rothman will direct the movie from a script he wrote with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who helmed 2012’s 21 Jump Street and its 2014 sequel, will return as producers alongside Neal H. Moritz. No plot details have been shared, and it is unclear why the number 23 was skipped over for the current film’s title. Lord and Miller, who helmed this year’s Ryan Gosling-led Amazon MGM Studios hit Project Hail Mary, marked their feature directorial debuts with 21 Jump Street, which had a script from Hill and Michael Bacall. The films are based on the 21 Jump Street series that premiered on Fox in 1987 and ran for five seasons. Johnny Depp, who had a cameo in the first movie, starred in the show that …

‘War of the Worlds’ Producer Defends Ice Cube Film After Bad Reviews

‘War of the Worlds’ Producer Defends Ice Cube Film After Bad Reviews

A creative voice behind last year’s Ice Cube film War of the Worlds is offering his thoughts about the movie’s inauspicious critical response. Timur Bekmambetov, the filmmaker known for 2008’s Wanted and this year’s Chris Pratt-led Mercy, took part in a Reddit AMA on Thursday to promote LifeHack, which he produced. Focusing on a crypto heist, director Ronan Corrigan’s thriller hits theaters next week after premiering last year at SXSW. Among the questions posed to Bekmambetov were multiple queries about him having produced War of the Worlds, which hit Prime Video in July and loosely adapted H.G. Wells’ classic sci-fi novel about an alien invasion. Starring Ice Cube, Eva Longoria and Clark Gregg, director Rich Lee’s movie was critically eviscerated and currently holds a meager 4 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also collected five of the six Razzie Awards for which it was nominated, including the dubious distinction of the year’s worst picture. In response to a question about how he felt to have worked on the project, Bekmambetov wrote, “The criticism of …

Lume Cube Edge Light Go Review (2026): Versatile, Portable

Lume Cube Edge Light Go Review (2026): Versatile, Portable

The base of the lamp has two slider buttons. One toggle adjusts the warmth, from cold white light all the way to red. One adjusts the intensity, from ultra-bright down to a glareless glow. Hard taps on each button skip ahead, while holding the toggle down on one side or another adjusts the light settings quite slowly—slowly enough I at first sometimes question whether it’s happening. The maximum brightness is 1,000 lumens—the approximate intensity of a 75-watt incandescent bulb. At this brightness, the battery lasts about five hours. At a lower intensity, this can extend to as long as a dozen hours. Red Shift Photograph: Matthew Korfhage There’s an added feature I have come to appreciate at night, which is the red-light mode. There’s little evidence that blue light from your little smartphone is keeping you awake at night. But numerous studies do show that blue light wavelengths can affect melatonin levels and thus your body’s circadian rhythm, while red light doesn’t do this. Red light therapy is, of course, the province of TikTok as …

Ice Cube and Chris Tucker’s Sons Recreate Comedy Friday for L.A. Rams

The Los Angeles Rams drafted the sons of Ice Cube and Chris Tucker to recreate their famous father’s classic comedy Friday. O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Destin Tucker headline the reimagined take, titled Thursday, starring alongside Terry Crews, YG, Kevin Dotson, Jared Verse, Byron Young and Big Boy as part of the team’s newest installment of its draft campaign. It dropped today ahead of the NFL Draft next week on all Rams digital and social platforms. Friday, directed by F. Gary Gray from a script by Cube and DJ Pooh, came out in 1995 from New Line Cinema. It starred Cube as Craig and Tucker as Smokey, two friends who must come up with $200 they owe a local bully or there won’t be a Saturday. Agency partners at TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles worked with the Rams to develop an reimagined version for the draft, one that “celebrates the cultural impact” of Friday in the communities where Rams fans live. They even filmed at the original Friday house located in the West Athens neighborhood southeast of SoFi …

Ice Cube, Kevin Hart in Talks to Return Ride Along 3

Ice Cube, Kevin Hart in Talks to Return Ride Along 3

After a decade of development, Ride Along 3 is starting to see renewed momentum. Daniel Gold, who was a writer on the Netflix series Workin’ Moms, is set to write a new take on the buddy cop story, with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in talks to return for the Universal project. Also in talks to return is director Tim Story and producer Will Packer, the latter of whom is releasing the rom-com You, Me & Tuscany with the studio this weekend. Universal had no comment on the potential project. Hart and Ice Cube star in the film series as brothers-in-laws who happen to both work in law enforcement, each with drastically different levels of expertise, who often end up in the middle of Florida’s various crime underworlds. It has been ten years since the last Ride Along movie hit theaters. The first Ride Along, out in 2014, grossed over $130 million at the domestic box office, while the second installment earned over $90 million in 2016, making it an overall profitable mid-budget franchise for …

What brain waves reveal about people who can solve a Rubik’s Cube in seconds

What brain waves reveal about people who can solve a Rubik’s Cube in seconds

A recent study published in Experimental Brain Research provides evidence that elite Rubik’s Cube solvers use the exact same brain patterns to mentally plan their moves as they do to physically execute them. This research suggests that highly trained experts mentally solve the entire puzzle before even touching it. These findings help explain how the human brain adapts to handle complex tasks that require intense thinking and fast physical movement at the same time. Humans generally struggle to perform difficult mental calculations while executing precise physical movements. For example, a person texting on a smartphone tends to walk much slower because the brain cannot easily dedicate its full capacity to both thinking and moving at the exact same time. Solving a Rubik’s Cube is an incredibly demanding activity. It requires a person to analyze color patterns, memorize those patterns, and predict how the puzzle will look multiple steps into the future. But professional speed-cubers can complete this puzzle in a matter of seconds. “We humans can use our brains to perform difficult actions. We control …

Painter Emmi Whitehorse Joins White Cube

White Cube will now represent Emmi Whitehorse, alongside New York–based Garth Greenan Gallery, which has exhibited her work since 2022. Related Articles White Cube will feature Whitehorse’s 2025 painting Father Sky meets Mother Earth in its booth at Art Basel Hong Kong later this month. The representation comes after she had a solo exhibition at White Cube’s Paris location last September. An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, Whitehorse joining White Cube makes her one of the few Indigenous artists to have representation with an international blue-chip gallery. Whitehorse is best known for dreamy, ethereal semi-abstract paintings that often feature light oil washes in gradients of just a few shades of color—blues, greens, oranges, reds, for example—that are filled with marks of flora and fauna. Whitehorse has described these works as landscapes, indebted to the Navajo philosophy of Hózhó, reflecting “a harmonious balance between humanity, beauty and nature,” according to a release.
