Ms Vanderpuije, 47, who co-presented the Channel 5 News programme with Mr Walker from 2022, had lodged claims of unfair dismissal, discrimination on grounds of race and sex, harassment, and breach of contract. She had also filed a claim of suffering detriment or dismissal under the Public Interest Disclosure Act, commonly known as whistleblowing. Her lawyer, Jonathan Coad, told the Daily Mail earlier this month: “Claudia-Liza claims that she was the victim of a sham redundancy because as a whistleblower she made protected disclosures alleging that a toxic culture of racism, sexism, misogyny and bullying existed in the Channel 5 Newsroom, and that its editorial content reflected its racist culture.” Mr Walker, 49, was listed …

It was reported on Sunday (12 April) that Walker – who joined 5 News in 2022 after leaving BBC Breakfast – would be appearing at an employment tribunal this month over bullying allegations made by Vanderpuije. The presenters co-hosted 5 News together until 2024, when Vanderpuije left the channel after five years. Channel 5 brought in investigators in 2024 after Walker was the subject of a “multi-pronged” complaint from a colleague, however they found that there had been “a lack of evidence to support allegations”. Issuing a statement on Vanderpuije’s behalf, her lawyer Jonathan Coad said she’s alleging that ITN, which produces the show, and Channel 5 “tried to over up …

Dan Levy’s Netflix Show Big Mistakes Draws Mixed Reviews

Dan Levy’s Netflix Show Big Mistakes Draws Mixed Reviews

On Thursday, April 9, Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy’s new show Big Mistakes was released on Netflix. The multi-award-winning actor and writer, who also released comedy-drama film Good Grief with the streamer in 2023, worked with I Love LA’s Rachel Sennot to create the show. “Blackmailed into working for some very dangerous people, two deeply incapable siblings become the most disorganised duo in organised crime,” its description reads. Levy appears as a pastor in the eight-episode chaos-fest, which promises to combine his signature comedic flair with high-octane crime drama. The cast also includes Taylor Ortega, Laurie Metcalfe, and Jack Innanen. Here’s what the critics have to say so far: ″…This is less a great premise than a passable excuse for Levy to create another bickering, boundary-decimating on-screen family. As Schitt’s Creek proved, it’s where he excels, and the dynamic between the repressed and dutiful Nicky and the thrill-seeking, acid-tongued Morgan is a joy to witness… “The domestic cringe comedy at its heart means Big Mistakes is far from a major error, but it isn’t quite …

Dan Levy’s Netflix Crime Comedy

Dan Levy’s Netflix Crime Comedy

Weeds, the Mary-Louise Parker-fronted dark comedy from Jenji Kohan, is generally remembered as one of those Showtime shows that were great until they became stupid and then lasted longer as “stupid” than they did as “great.” Seriously, there are at least a half-dozen of those. Personally, I enjoyed a number of those increasingly silly seasons of the show, in which Nancy Botwin’s criminality expanded past the point of plausibility and became unsustainably ludicrous. As Showtime shows that lasted far too long go, I preferred Weeds to most. Big Mistakes The Bottom Line Broadly funny, occasionally suspenseful and not particularly deep. Airdate: Thursday, April 9 (Netflix)Cast: Dan Levy, Taylor Ortega, Laurie Metcalf, Jack Innanen, Boran Kuzum, Abby Quinn, Elizabeth PerkinsCreators: Dan Levy and Rachel Sennott That’s why it’s strange I’ve barely considered that one of my favorite TV genres of recent years — dark comedies about ordinary people forced into intense criminality by the vagaries of capitalism — was at least partially Weeds-inspired. I keep comparing series like Peacock’s Killing It, Hulu’s Deli Boys and Hulu’s …
