House Democrat: Vance part of White House Epstein ‘cover up’

On Thursday, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), Democrats’ ranking member on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, pledged to investigate Vice President Vance’s role in the Trump administration’s “cover-up” of actions tied to now-deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. His comments follow a report from The New York Times that alleged Vance headed the White… Source link

After a Democrat standoff, Trump signs $70bn immigration enforcement bill | Donald Trump News

United States President Donald Trump has signed into law a $70bn funding bill for immigration enforcement, capping a months-long standoff with Democrats after the killing of two US citizens. The legislation signed into law on Wednesday provides funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) for at least the remainder of Trump’s term. Recommended Stories list of 3 itemsend of list That adds to a $140bn financial windfall the agencies received as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a tax-and-spending bill Congress passed last July. Both ICE and CBP fall under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In an Oval Office signing ceremony, Trump accused the Democrats of nefarious motives for seeking to block DHS funding. “Congressional Democrats tried to block all funding for the Department of Homeland Security in a reprehensible attempt to throw open the borders of the United States of America,” Trump said. “They want to drag us straight back to chaos and crime.” Immigration had dominated Trump’s re-election campaign, and the Republican leader returned …

Mario Tama/Getty Images hide caption toggle caption Mario Tama/Getty Images SAN FRANCISCO — Democrat Xavier Becerra will advance to the November election for California governor, according to a race call by The Associated Press. After days of counting ballots, it remains unclear who will claim the second spot in the fall. In California’s unusual primary system, all candidates, regardless of party, appear on a single ballot open to any registered voter. The top two candidates then move on to the general election. An estimated 3.5 million uncounted ballots remain. The state also counts mail-in ballots that arrive up to seven days after Election Day, as long as they are postmarked by Election Day. The state hasn’t had a wide-open primary like this one since the late 1990s. The winner in November will lead the country’s most populous state, facing a large deficit and other obstacles, …

Becerra, a former California attorney general and 12-term congressman, campaigned on his extensive experience in government in the race to replace term-limited Gov. But he rapidly rose to the top of a muddled field of candidates following former Rep. Eric Swalwell’s abrupt exit from the race in April in the wake of sexual assault and …

Texas Democrat James Talarico May Be on Track to Turn the Lone Star State Blue

Texas Democrat James Talarico May Be on Track to Turn the Lone Star State Blue

Yes, Virginia, there may in fact be a blue wave in Texas this year. I’ve been in Texas politics for most of my adult life. I worked for Governor Ann Richards, a Democrat. And I worked for Republican George W. Bush when he ran for the governor’s mansion—and the White House. I’ve witnessed the best of times and the worst of times for both parties. Which is to say: I’ve seen a lot of changes. From Blue Dog Democrats to the Tea Party to MAGA. From LBJ to Dubya to Greg Abbott. For years now, with every political cycle, members of the media, as well as interested parties of every stripe, have asked me the same question: “Is this the year a blue wave hits Texas?” And I’ve always been the guy tapping the brakes. Because even when Texas was a Democratic state, most of the elected officials were very conservative. Senator Lloyd Bentsen almost certainly would have run as a Republican today. And even though Richards was progressive in many ways, she got elected …

Anna Gomez Is the Sole Democrat on the FCC. She Has a Warning for Big Media Companies

WASHINGTON (AP) — Anna Gomez wakes up every morning and checks her phone to see if President Donald Trump has fired her yet. For now, she remains the sole Democrat on the Federal Communications Commission, where she’s on an increasingly urgent mission to press media companies to more forcefully combat an administration she says is cracking down on free speech. Her immediate focus is Disney, the parent of ABC. It is the subject of investigations launched by the FCC under Chairman Brendan Carr, a Trump ally. In an extraordinary four-page letter earlier this month to Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, Gomez outlined what she described as the FCC’s “sustained, coordinated campaign of censorship and control” against the company. She noted probes touching on everything from diversity practices to ABC’s moderation of a 2024 presidential debate and the guests booked on “The View” along with the administration’s calls for late-night host Jimmy Kimmel to be fired. She’s particularly worried that the FCC’s move for early reviews of ABC’s broadcast licenses in the markets where it owns local …

A Collapsing Europe Shows Where Democrat Policies Will Take America

A Collapsing Europe Shows Where Democrat Policies Will Take America

Authored by Andrew Widburg via AmericanThinker.com, Immediately before WWII, the biggest threat to Europe was Soviet socialism. During WWII, the biggest threat was the open socialism (in the form of fascism) in Germany and Italy. After WWII, during the Cold War, the biggest threat, once again, was Soviet socialism. Nevertheless, the post-war Europeans embraced socialism and touted its success, never realizing that it worked only because the U.S. paid their defense costs and absorbed the costs of wars around the world. When the Soviet Union collapsed, and America’s defense spending waned, the true costs of socialism began to be clear: The economies became sluggish; the birthrates collapsed, necessitating importing third world, usually Muslim, labor; the social services started imploding, especially because those same third worlders drained the systems, despite never having contributed to them; soft on crime policies destroyed civilized society; and the brain rot of socialism saw Europe embrace the madcap, self-destructive idea of Net Zero carbon output, which has seen Europe retreat from the modern world into a cold, dark, pre-modern time. Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen to retire after GOP targets him with redistricting

Rep. Steve Cohen (Tenn.), a liberal Democrat in his 20th year on Capitol Hill, announced Friday that he will retire at the end of the term, becoming the earliest casualty of the Republicans’ redistricting campaign ahead of November’s midterms. Cohen, who will turn 77 later this month, hammered the Republicans for orchestrating what he called a power… Source link
