George Finch, the 19 year old running two councils, told The House magazine Restore Britain were akin to the BNP. (Alamy) 3 min read43 min The teenage Reform UK councillor leading Warwickshire council has claimed that a Restore Britain government would deport people “just because of their colour”. George Finch, the 19-year-old councillor who is currently in charge of both Warwickshire County Council and Bedworth and Nuneaton Borough Council, said in an interview with The House magazine that Sikh and Gurkha communities in his area, who have “fought with us (Britain)” in wars, would be “gone” if Rupert Lowe’s party entered power. A Restore Britain spokesperson told PoliticsHome: “Finch is talking total bullshit.” His comments come as Restore Britain looks to challenge Reform UK’s position as the leading right-wing party in the UK. Lowe, the MP for Great Yarmouth, launched the party after falling out with Farage and being removed from Reform UK following accusations of bullying that he denies. Endorsed by the controversial billionaire owner of X, Elon Musk, Restore Britain is seen as to the right of Reform, …

Court Gives Mahmoud Khalil More Time to Fight Trump Administration’s Efforts to Deport Him

Court Gives Mahmoud Khalil More Time to Fight Trump Administration’s Efforts to Deport Him

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal appeals court is giving former Columbia University graduate student Mahmoud Khalil more time to fight the Trump administration’s efforts to deport him. Khalil, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., was detained by immigration authorities last year because of his participation in pro-Palestinian demonstrations at Columbia in the spring of 2024. The U.S. government argued at the time that Khalil’s presence in the U.S. was harmful to the country’s foreign policy interests. Khalil spent months in detention before a federal judge in New Jersey freed him, saying that the government had acted unconstitutionally. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals then heard the case. It ruled that the judge in New Jersey didn’t have the authority to intervene in Khalil’s case, and said the case needed to proceed first through the immigration courts. The appeals court on Tuesday, however, said it would put its ruling on hold while Khalil appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court. Brett Max Kaufman, senior counsel with the American Civil Liberties Union, which is involved …

South Africa to deport Robert Mugabe’s son over firearm offence | Courts News

Bellarmine Mugabe was also fined $36,000. Published On 29 Apr 202629 Apr 2026 A magistrate has ordered that the youngest son of the late Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is to be deported immediately from South Africa after pleading guilty to two offences earlier this month. A court in Johannesburg on Wednesday ordered Bellarmine Mugabe to pay a fine of $36,000 or face a two-year prison sentence for brandishing a toy gun in a manner that created the impression it was real, as well as for being in the country illegally. Mugabe was arrested on February 19 alongside his cousin, Tobias Matonhodze, after an employee at his home in the affluent Johannesburg suburb of Hyde Park was shot in the back. Mugabe and Matonhodze were initially charged with attempted murder. After a failed plea deal, Mugabe, 28, admitted to being in South Africa illegally and to pointing a toy gun in a separate incident, while Matonhodze, 32, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and other charges. Matonhodze, who was sentenced to three years in prison, also admitted …

Justice Department makes it easier to deport those with DACA status : NPR

The order in the case involving Catalina “Xóchitl” Santiago came from the Board of Immigration Appeals, an administrative court within the Justice Department. Brendan Smialowski/AFP via Getty Images hide caption toggle caption Brendan Smialowski/AFP via Getty Images The Trump administration is making it easier to deport immigrants protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA. A new precedent decision published Friday by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) says being a DACA recipient is not enough reason to provide relief from deportation. A three-judge panel of appellate immigration judges sided with Department of Homeland Security lawyers who appealed a decision from immigration judge Michael Pleters terminating removal proceedings for Catalina “Xóchitl” Santiago, citing Santiago’s active DACA status. They sent the case back to a different immigration judge for review. Although the decision does not mean Santiago will be immediately deported, it potentially weakens DACA protections for hundreds of thousands of others. Santiago’s case gained national attention after she was detained by Customs and Border Protection officers while boarding a domestic flight at …

Mahmood to deport thousands of migrants before they can appeal

Mahmood to deport thousands of migrants before they can appeal

Shabana Mahmood will deport thousands of foreign criminals and failed asylum seekers before they can use human rights laws to appeal and block their removal. The Home Secretary is to use laws drawn up by Sir Tony Blair’s Labour government to remove them as soon as their asylum claims are rejected so that they can only appeal once they are back in their home countries. Ministers have told The Telegraph they plan to ramp up the deportations in an attempt to reduce a record backlog of more than 100,000 appeals by rejected asylum seekers. Many of them are housed in hotels at a cost of millions of pounds to taxpayers. Officials have identified 25 “safe” countries, including India, Brazil, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Albania and Ukraine to which they can immediately deport the failed asylum seekers and criminals before they lodge appeals. The tough approach comes as Ms Mahmood seeks to contain a threatened rebellion by dozens of Labour MPs opposed to her crackdown that will force legal migrants and refugees to wait longer before they …

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood defends plans to deport asylum seeker children | Politics News

Shabana Mahmood has defended her plans for forced deportation of children under her new asylum rules.  The home secretary has said the government is consulting on precisely how the removal of families with children will work. Politics Live: UK to send more fighter jets to the Middle East Speaking to Trevor Phillips on Sky News on Thursday, Ms Mahmood said it was important to “enforce” the law. She said: “This is about immigration enforcement and it’s about being in a process where you are able to enforce your rules. “If you don’t do that, the flip side is you just end up picking up the tab for hundreds of families, hundreds of thousands of pounds per family every single year. “And it is the taxpayer in the end that’s paying the price of that.” The cabinet minister said there is “no easy solution” to cutting illegal immigration but “if you’re going to have rules, then you better enforce them”. I’ll be honest, it didn’t take long for the fresh, excited energy I was trying to bring into 2026 to be quashed. (But maybe that’s on me — I forgot to put “attack a foreign country and seize its leader with only the murkiest of communications about what might come next” on my “out” list this year.) But this week, I want to talk about two other stories that, when juxtaposed, paint a striking picture of how some people are grappling with life under the second Trump administration. First, a kind of ridiculous one: the petitions to deport Nicki Minaj. Nicki Minaj arrives at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 12, 2023, at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Inside the petitions to deport Nicki Minaj and why over 120,000 people have signed them

Nicki Minaj is in hot water with over 120,000 people. There are several Change.org petitions to deport the 43-year-old rapper to her native Trinidad and Tobago, with the most popular petition amassing 83,000. While the most signed petition was launched on July 9, 2025, the popularity of them has only increased after Nicki aligned herself with conservative activist Erika Kirk and praised President Donald Trump’s administration. On December 21, Nicki appeared on stage with the late Charlie Kirk‘s wife at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest. She walked out to her song “Super Bass” while holding hands with Erika and told Erika: “I’m honored to be here, thank you for having me.” In a recent petition created on December 27, which has been signed by 45,351 people, the author, Tristan Hamilton, wrote: “Nicki Minaj’s actions and words have taken a turn that has left many of her supporters and those who once found solace in her music feeling deeply betrayed.” Erika and Nicki at Turning Point USA’s annual AmericaFest conference (Getty Images) It continues: “Deporting Nicki Minaj …
