Prince Harry’s prospects of being welcomed back into the royal fold have received a significant boost after one of the final remaining obstacles was removed. It emerged on Monday that Sir Clive Alderton will step down from his role as principal private secretary to King Charles next year. While the Palace will advertise for a successor, the move appears to clear the path for the promotion of former UK diplomat Theo Rycroft, currently deputy private secretary. Sir Clive and Rycroft are believed to be leading rival factions within the royal household, with Alderton advising the King to maintain distance from his younger son. By contrast, Rycroft is eager to pursue a reconciliation, concerned that the rift is harming the monarchy. With Sir Clive departing, only Prince William seemingly remains as an obstacle to Harry and Meghan’s return, though the Prince of Wales’s position will be undermined by Sir Clive’s absence. March 24 : Karolina Muchova needed all of her experience to hold off rising Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko 7-5 7-6(5) on Tuesday, booking a place in her first Miami Open semi-final in a match she admitted could have gone either way. The 29-year-old Czech secured her fifth WTA 1000 semi-final berth in a hard-fought contest that lasted one hour and 47 minutes. “It was very close, basically one point at the end. It can always change in tennis. I’m just very grateful I was able to win the last point,” Muchova said. LONDON, March 21 : Russia’s Movsar Evloev overcame a point deduction for a foul to edge a majority decision win over Lerone Murphy at Saturday’s UFC fight at the O2 Arena, likely punching his ticket to a title fight against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski in his next bout.  With the two fighters putting their undefeated records on the line to decide who will face the 37-year-old Australian Volkanovski for the belt, the bout turned into an intriguing clash of styles. A drone strike hit a runway at the British RAF Akrotiri base earlier, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides said, prompting Nicosia to cancel an informal meeting of EU affairs ministers. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Britain would deploy the destroyer HMS Dragon, while French President Emmanuel Macron announced France would send a frigate and air-defense systems to the island. With Greek F-16s now on the island and European warships moving into the eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus will continue to be the epicenter of EU concern about the war spilling over onto its territory.
