Coronation Street’s Lou Michaelis exits again as prison storyline ends

Coronation Street’s Lou Michaelis exits again as prison storyline ends

Another favourite has left the Coronation Street cobbles. A dramatic prison scene sparked the end of Lou Michaelis’ (Farrel Hegarty) second stint in the ITV soap, 13 months since her first appearance. The character was introduced alongside husband Mick (Joe Layton), as the nightmare neighbours who moved into Mawdsley Street, across the ginnel from Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown (Sam Aston and Dolly-Rose Campbell). After ruffling feathers with the Weatherfield residents, Lou was sent down for attacking Gary Windass (Mikey North), who she developed an obsession with. Meanwhile, Mick ended up behind bars for brutally killing PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) with a baseball bat. Hegarty reprised her role for a brief stint earlier this year, after Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) found herself imprisoned for causing death by dangerous driving. Lou (Farrell Hegarty) was Debbie’s (Sue Devaney) prison pal. ITV Debbie had pleaded guilty to causing a multi-vehicle pile-up (which was seen during the Corrie crossover episode with Emmerdale, Corriedale), in a bid to protect her son Carl (Jonathan Howard). At the time, he was unsure why …

Kwan and Scheinert – the directing duo known as the Daniels – had planned to begin shooting the film in Los Angeles later this summer. Gosling’s schedule, however, was unable to accommodate the change in timeline. Ryan Gosling Exits The Daniels Untitled Event Film at Universal Pictures

Ryan Gosling Exits The Daniels Untitled Event Film at Universal Pictures

Daniels and Ryan Gosling couldn’t make a deal. The Project Hail Mary star’s casting in the Oscar winning filmmaker’s untitled event film has been grounded, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. As first reported by Deadline, it is being chalked up to scheduling conflicts as the project, which secured a tax credit in California, was not able to shift from its targeted summer start with a release date already on the calendar for Nov. 19, 2027. The film falls under an overall deal with the studio for Daniels’ Playgrounds banner with their longtime producing partner Jonathan Wang, and it marks the duo’s follow-up to the pop culture phenomenon that was Everything Everywhere All at Once, which won seven Academy Awards including best picture, best director and best original screenplay for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. It also was a box office juggernaut, earning $143 million on a $25 million budget. The casting was seen as a coup considering Gosling is riding high off the red hot debut of Project Hail Mary for Amazon MGM Studios, which …

OpenAI’s Sora shutting down as Disney exits deal

OpenAI’s Sora shutting down as Disney exits deal

Pour one out for Sora, the groundbreaking — but quickly overtaken — video generation app from OpenAI, the makers of ChatGPT. Born Dec. 2024, and baptized by a billion-dollar Disney deal a year later, Sora was axed by OpenAI on Tuesday — and the Disney deal was trashed alongside it. “We’re saying goodbye to the Sora app,” the Sora team announced Tuesday via the OpenAI X feed. “To everyone who created with Sora, shared it, and built community around it: thank you. What you made with Sora mattered, and we know this news is disappointing.” OpenAI did not confirm reports that Sora would soon be available within ChatGPT itself, but did promise to “share more soon, including timelines for the app and API and details on preserving your work.” This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed. Sora launched to great fanfare. Some of us even wondered if the launch could herald a new cinematic medium. But it was soon eclipsed by other more fully-featured AI video generation apps such …

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman exits Helion Energy’s board as firms explore partnership

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman exits Helion Energy’s board as firms explore partnership

March 23 : OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman said on Monday he has stepped down from the board of directors of Helion Energy, the fusion startup he has backed since 2015, as the companies start to explore working together “at significant scale”. Altman, who is also on the OpenAI board, said the dual roles had become untenable as the ChatGPT maker eyes future partnerships with Helion. In a post on social media platform X, Altman added that he will have a financial interest in Helion and will recuse himself from any deal negotiations. “Sam has played an integral role in Helion’s development… I look forward to working with (Altman) in this new capacity,” Helion CEO David Kirtley said in an X post separately. OpenAI is also in advanced talks to buy electricity from Helion Energy, Axios reported on Monday, citing a person familiar with the situation. Under the terms being discussed, OpenAI could secure a guaranteed portion of Helion’s production, initially 12.5 per cent, with talks centering on OpenAI receiving the equivalent of 5 gigawatts …

Scott MacFarlane, a high-profile hire for CBS News five years ago, announced Monday he is leaving the network. MacFarlane told colleagues in an email that the departure is his decision. “I will always value the opportunity I had to work alongside the talented and committed professionals here,” he said. “I’m proud to have had the words ‘CBS correspondent’ next to my name and always will be.” MacFarlane added that he looks forward to “some independence and finding new spaces to share my work in line with my personal goals.” MacFarlane covered Congress and the Justice Department. CBS viewers saw him featured during extended network coverage of the State of the Union addresses and election nights. MacFarlane is the first significant name to depart CBS News since parent company Paramount won its bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery on Feb. 27. Gilmore Girls’ Scott Patterson shares controversial statement as he exits Netflix series Sullivan’s Crossing

Sullivan’s Crossing season four will see a big shake-up as Scott Patterson has exited the series as Harry “Sully” Sullivan. Sully is the estranged father of the lead character Maggie (Morgan Kohan), whom viewers first met in season one when Maggie returned to her hometown in Nova Scotia to be closer to her father after facing legal issues in Boston.  However, Scott has now taken to Instagram to deny claims from the showrunner that they had “moved on” from the character, insisting that “creative differences were becoming untenable and I just sadly realized that the show was not something that I could agree to continue”. Morgan Kohan and Scott Patterson in Sullivan’s Crossing “Every actor knows what it’s like to fall in love with a character and a story. I fell in love with Sully and have nothing but fondness for him,” Scott – who found fame as Luke Danes in Gilmore Girls – wrote on Instagram. “It’s unfortunate that it is now being implied that they moved on from me/Sully when the fact is the …

Netflix Exits Meghan Markle’s Scented Candles Business

Netflix Exits Meghan Markle’s $64 Scented Candles Business

Without much love, Netflix just exited as a partner to Meghan Markle in her As Ever lifestyle brand, stylized “As ever.” “Meghan’s passion for elevating everyday moments in beautiful yet simple ways inspired the creation of the As ever brand, and we are glad to have played a role in bringing that vision to life,” Netflix said in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “As it was always intended, Meghan will continue growing the brand and take it into its next chapter independently, and we look forward to celebrating how she continues to bring joy to households around the world.” THR reached out to Markle’s personal rep for their statement, but did not immediately receive a response. The fruit-spread split comes about seven months after Netflix downgraded Markle’s production deal from an overall to a first-look. Officially, at the time, the streamer says it “extended its creative partnership” with Archewell Productions, Prince Harry and Meghan’s — the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — media company. In reality, the new pact was a much lighter …

CBS News Producer Exits Citing Pressure to Aim Political Reporting

Mary Walsh, a veteran CBS News producer of over four decades, is exiting the company, claiming in an exit memo to staffers that instructions to “aim our reporting at a particular part of the political spectrum” are partly why she’s departing. “We’ve been reading a lot of goodbyes lately and here I am headed out the door. It’s too soon, even after 46 years,” Mary Walsh wrote in a memo sent Friday, per The Guardian. “But maybe it’s for the best. We’ve been told to aim our reporting at a particular part of the political spectrum. Honestly, I don’t know how to do that.” The Guardian further reported that CBS Evening News executive editor Kim Harvey sent a separate message to staff in response to Walsh’s memo. “We wish Mary Walsh well and thank her for many years of service,” Harvey wrote, according to the outlet. “Mary wrote in her farewell note, ‘We’ve been told to aim our reporting at a particular part of the political spectrum.’ That is simply not true. Here at the …
