The judiciary is “the genius of our founders,” Comey told NBC News’ “Meet the Press.” “It’s frankly the only leg of our three-legged stool that is still standing in the U.S. government, but it’s standing tall and straight,” he added. “It is the guardian of the rule of law, and I believe in it.” The former FBI director was indicted last month after prosecutors alleged his photo of seashells spelling out “86 47” was a threat against the president’s life. Trump administration officials and the Justice Department allege that “86” means “to kill,” with President Donald Trump telling reporters in the Oval Office last month, “Well, if anybody knows anything about crime, they know 86 — you know what 86 — it’s a mob term for kill him.” Restaurant workers, on the …

Murders Down Roughly 20% In 2025, FBI Preliminary Data Show

Authored by Kimberly Hayek via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours), The FBI on Sunday published an early glimpse at annual crime data, releasing preliminary 2025 data alongside first-quarter 2026 numbers that together show that violent crime has dropped sharply. FBI personnel enter a building in Portsmouth, Va., on May 6, 2026. Peter Casey/The Virginian-Pilot via AP The figures, typically released at the end of summer, marked the first time the bureau furnished a preview of annual crime tallies before the end of the following spring.  The first-quarter 2026 numbers, drawn from 67 major law enforcement agencies, showed homicides fell 17.7 percent against the same period last year, robberies fell 20.4 percent, reported rapes declined 7.2 percent, and aggravated assaults dropped 4.8 percent. Declines appeared in every region of the country, according to the bureau.  Among cities registering the steepest homicide reductions from January through March are Washington, D.C., down 64.7 percent; Philadelphia, 54 percent; San Diego, 50 percent; Houston, 36.4 percent; Memphis, Tennessee, 34.4 percent; New York City, 31.7 percent; and Los Angeles, 23 percent. …

Sheriff breaks silence after explosive claims over FBI tip-off

Sheriff breaks silence after explosive claims over FBI tip-off

Tensions have erupted between the local authorities and the FBI amid the ongoing Nancy Guthrie case, after the 84-year-old mother of Today show star Savannah Guthrie went missing on February 1. Nancy was believed to have been taken by force from her home in Tucson, Arizona, and police have yet to make any arrests three months in.  In May, FBI director Kash Patel alleged that the local police chief, Sheriff Chris Nanos, waited four days after Nancy’s disappearance before letting the bureau in on the investigation. Nanos refuted this claim on Tuesday, claiming that the FBI were involved in the case from “Day one”.  “And they continue to be involved in this case. Every single day,” he told KOLD. “We continue to work with our labs. Whether it’s on the digital end or the biological end, DNA.”  © NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal viaNancy has been missing for 100 days He then addressed the lengthy nature of the case, which was opened 100 days ago. “It moves at a snail’s pace, I guess, for some. FBI Director Kash Patel Says AI Has Stopped Numerous Violent Attacks Against America. We’d Love to See a Single Whiff of Evidence

FBI Director Kash Patel Says AI Has Stopped Numerous Violent Attacks Against America. We’d Love to See a Single Whiff of Evidence

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech In a recent interview on Sean Hannity’s YouTube podcast, FBI head Kash Patel lauded AI for helping stop multiple violent attacks on innocent people. “AI was never used at the FBI till we got there, literally crazy,” Patel said in his characteristically hopped up affect. “I’m using it everywhere.” Specifically, Patel — who’s been accused of severe issues related to alcohol consumption — alleges that using AI the FBI has been able to foil numerous mass shootings at schools throughout the US. “We stopped a school massacre in North Carolina because we got a tip from our private-sector partners who are building out AI infrastructure,” he bragged. As with everything coming out of the Trump administration, we need to take this statement with a Mar-a-Lago-sized grain of salt. While it remains to be seen whether AI has really helped the FBI thwart mass casualty events, there’s extremely compelling evidence that the exact opposite is also true. For starters, …

The FBI Is Reportedly Investigating a Leak to an Atlantic Writer

The FBI Is Reportedly Investigating a Leak to an Atlantic Writer

Nearly three weeks after The Atlantic reported that some government officials were alarmed by FBI Director Kash Patel’s behavior, including conspicuous inebriation and unexplained absences, MS NOW reported this morning that the bureau has “launched a criminal leak investigation” that focuses on the Atlantic journalist who wrote the story, Sarah Fitzpatrick. MS NOW reported that there is concern among FBI agents assigned to the investigation, citing two people familiar with the matter who were granted anonymity. Leak investigations are typically focused on government officials, not on journalists. “They know they are not supposed to do this,” one source told MS NOW. “But if they don’t go forward, they could lose their jobs. You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.” The FBI spokesperson Ben Williamson denied the investigation and said in a statement, “This is completely false. No such investigation like this exists and the reporter you mention is not being investigated at all.” The White House referred me to the FBI. The MS NOW report said that it was unclear whether internal …

A Library Dedicated Solely to the Epstein Files Is Opening in New York

I’m looking at Volume 1,536 of the Epstein files, page 311. It’s an early 2016 email thread between Jeffrey Epstein and a woman whose name is redacted by the Department of Justice. In the thread, Epstein asks the unidentified woman for a “naughty selfie” and later sends her a camera. In late February, he replies with a different ask: “Do you have any friends that might want to work for me?…I will give you money if you find someone willing to travel, 22-25, educated. Personable.” The exchange carries extra resonance when you consider that Epstein is accused of sex trafficking minors, with the Department of Justice estimating that he had more than 1,200 potential victims. But I just happen to flip to it randomly during my recent visit to the newly opened Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room. Photograph: Anna Maria Lopez/Courtesy of BPI Group Tucked away in a nondescript gallery in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood, the reading room is a massive library of all 3.5 million pages of Epstein-related records …
