Kevin McCloud answers your questions about building, filming and upskilling the next generation

What would you recommend installing to make your home more sustainable? Helen, North West Insulation. It doesn’t matter what the insulation is. You can put it in the most disgusting petrochemical insulation ever invented but it will probably pay for itself within ten days. What was the first thing you did to redesign your first property? Mary-Grace, East of England The first house I lived in was a two-up, two-down, so we couldn’t do much with it and we didn’t have any money. So I remember it had an Artex ceiling in the kitchen, which was foul. And so rather than try and rip it off, the builder said it was easy to batten over it and stick another ceiling underneath it. To this day, it probably still has two ceilings. Then we put trendy cork tiling down, and I tiled over the kitchen worktop with some ceramic tiles. It was more of a rehash and resurfacing of the building. All the old stuff was still underneath, including that really tacky 70s kitchen. Is there …

During a recent appearance on the Los Angeles Times podcast, Pfeiffer — who stars as Stacy Clyburn in the Yellowstone creator’s latest Paramount+ TV show — said that the sets in Montana and Texas were often brutally bare-boned without running water or electricity. “You may as well be in a tent because, you know, there is no bathroom,” Pfeiffer, 67, said about filming scenes for the series on open land. “Even the outhouse is not real. So there’s no AC, there’s no plumbing, there isn’t anything. But it is breakthtakingly glorious.” The Golden Globe Award-winning actress continued: “It took a while [to get used to] because they built that cabin. It was all a little bit rushed for everyone and so there weren’t certain accommodations set up.” …

A Guide to the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, From a Starry Jury to White Lotus Filming

A Guide to the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, From a Starry Jury to White Lotus Filming

On the red carpet, the Cannes Film Festival website explains that “for decency reasons, nudity is prohibited…as well as in any other area of the festival.” Guidelines further dictate that “voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater, are not permitted.” Fret not, these rules still leave plenty of room for creativity.
