The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Tuesday that the recall affects specific Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models manufactured between 2018 and 2022. The safety concern centers on seat belts that may unexpectedly lock, preventing them from properly retracting or extending. According to the NHTSA report, a malfunctioning seat belt could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Furthermore, rapid retraction of the seat belt in certain situations also poses a risk of harm to occupants. The latest recall supersedes and broadens two prior NHTSA actions. Ford Motor Co. has acknowledged two warranty claims, two field reports, and one reported injury …

Billy Graham’s grandson joins board as Leighton Ford Ministries builds for the future

Leighton Ford also names new president as more ministry leaders and ministries seek to discern their ‘truest calling’ CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As Leighton Ford Ministries (LFM) continues to respond to opportunities to walk alongside more leaders and ministries through pivotal seasons of transition and growth, the ministry is announcing new leadership to build for the future. Stephan Tchividjian, the Co-Founder and CEO of the National Christian Foundation of South Florida and the eldest grandchild of evangelist Billy Graham, has joined the LFM board. Rich Hurst, a sought-after church leadership consultant who has served as LFM’s Chief of Staff, has been named President of LFM, effective July 1. And Dave McKechnie, who previously served as LFM’s President, was just elected as Board Chair. “I have incredible respect for the legacy of LFM, particularly as it’s always thinking about the future,” said Tchividjian. “It’s thinking about the next generation. How do we mentor tomorrow’s pastors, tomorrow’s ministry leaders? It’s not a stagnant ministry. And that’s what I’ve always loved about it.” McKechnie, who served as Senior Pastor …

Mike Kropf/Getty Images hide caption toggle caption Mike Kropf/Getty Images Sailors in their dress whites lined the deck of the aircraft carrier as it pulled into Norfolk, Va., last weekend. Helenna Parrish let out a whoop when she spotted her daughter Asia, a culinary specialist, on the deck of the USS Gerald R. Ford. “I’m just happy she’s back on U.S. soil, that’s all. I’m happy she’s back, all of them, really, her shipmates, because I know some are stronger than others, so I pray for all of them,” she said. This was her daughter’s first deployment. Ford’s tour stretched from the coast of Venezuela to the Red Sea where the carrier launched F/A-18s to support the U.S.-Israel war on Iran. The Navy estimates the carrier traveled enough miles to circle the earth three times before the exhausted crew returned home to Naval Station Norfolk. “These kids are ready for …

“Answering The Call”: Ford Motor Eyes WWII-Style Production Push For Trump’s War Economy

One month after we reported that the Trump administration was in talks with U.S. manufacturers about converting idle civilian industrial capacity into weapons production, as conflicts across Eurasia deplete critical weapons stockpiles, Ford Motor signaled Monday morning that it is prepared to support a Western defense-industrial mobilization. Much like during World War II, Ford said it is exploring how its commercial vehicles and related technologies could help governments in North America and Europe quickly build up their defense in the most cost-effective way.  “Traditional, purpose-built military hardware takes years to develop and costs billions. By using commercial, off-the-shelf solutions from Ford, governments can access world-class technology at a fraction of the time and cost,” Ford wrote in a press release. Ford said its trucks, such as the F-Series and Ranger, along with technologies like Pro Power Onboard, could support military mobility, transport, and field operations. “We have always partnered with government customers in times of peace, crisis, and conflict to serve society. During World War II, Ford’s assembly lines produced hundreds of thousands of aircraft, …

Ford has just revealed a major plan to reboot its European business, with seven new models, a fresh focus on electric vans and a new range of rally-inspired cars designed to put a bit more fun back into the brand. It is a big moment for one of the world’s most famous car makers. But it also raises a big question: is Ford getting back on the front foot just in time, or has the market already moved faster than it expected? It does not seem all that long ago that Ford dominated the British car market – and was building cars here at its famous Dagenham plant. …

After Struggling With EVs, US Automakers Pivot to Energy

After Struggling With EVs, US Automakers Pivot to Energy

Tesla’s energy storage business is the elder statesman, at more than a decade old. Growth in its Powerwall (battery storage for homes) and Megapack (battery storage for utilities and commercial facilities) sales has, in recent years, helped to compensate for a drop in EV sales, though last quarter saw a sudden drop in energy revenue. Still, Tesla is moving forward with its plans to launch a Houston facility dedicated to a new, larger Megapack later this year. In total, 11 battery cell manufacturing plants are being retooled for energy storage, according to a March count by BloombergNEF, with eight of those in the US. Drive Time One reason investors are so bullish about battery energy storage is their continued enthusiasm for AI. AI companies need data centers, and data centers need energy. Batteries are a great fit for data centers, says Shan Tomouk, who leads battery energy storage research at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, a research firm focused on battery supply chains. Batteries can help directly power the very energy-hungry centers, which constantly run servers and …

Ford Launches Energy Subsidiary to Build Data Center-Scale Batteries at Kentucky Plant

Ford Launches Energy Subsidiary to Build Data Center-Scale Batteries at Kentucky Plant

Ford Motor Company has been quietly working on a secret side hustle. The automaker announced Monday the formal launch of Ford Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary that will manufacture and sell US-assembled battery energy storage systems for utilities, large industrial customers and — perhaps most importantly — data centers. Ford hopes to deploy at least 20GWh of storage capacity annually, with the first customer deliveries planned for late 2027. The pivot has been telegraphed since Ford and SK On killed their $11.4 billion BlueOval SK joint venture last year, splitting the factories and leaving Ford with a very large, very underutilized Kentucky battery plant and a decision to make. Repurposing that Glendale plant for grid-scale energy storage production is the kind of move that looks obvious in retrospect — though “obvious” and “well-executed” are different things. Ford still has to prove it’s capable of the latter. The DC Block is a shipping container-sized battery built around LFP prismatic cells. Ford launches Ford Energy subsidiary to build 20 GWh of battery storage annually

Ford has officially unveiled Ford Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary that will manufacture and sell U.S.-assembled battery energy storage systems (BESS) for utilities, data centers, and large industrial customers. The new unit plans to produce 20 GWh of energy storage annually from its Kentucky gigafactory. The move formalizes what has been months in the making — Ford’s pivot from struggling EV battery overcapacity to the booming grid-scale energy storage market, where demand is surging thanks to AI data centers and renewable energy buildout. From EV battery overcapacity to energy storage play Ford Energy didn’t come out of nowhere. As we covered in December, Ford announced plans to convert its EV battery plants to make battery storage for data centers after it became clear that demand for EV batteries wasn’t absorbing the capacity Ford had built. That announcement came just days after Ford and SK On killed their massive $11.4 billion BlueOval SK joint venture, splitting their battery factories between the two companies. Ford Energy President Lisa Drake, who was appointed to lead the new subsidiary …
