Sarah Ferguson is reportedly “missing” and not even King Charles or Prince William know where she is

Sarah Ferguson was evicted from the Royal Lodge along with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and ever since her whereabouts have been somewhat mysterious… There were some reports that she was living with her daughters – and even one rumour that she’d been staying with Priscilla Presley, which Priscilla’s rep said was “totally false.” Regardless, members of the royal family, including King Charles and Prince William, apparently have no idea where Fergie is, and she’s been described as “missing.” “No one knows exactly where she is,” a source tells Rob Shuter. “And that includes the very top.” That said, “She’s not someone who disappears for good. She always comes back. She loves London, she loves society, and she loves attention. That hasn’t changed. She’s thinking about a comeback. And she knows timing is everything.” Julian Finney – Getty Images Despite this, the source says that “It’s unusual that even people close to her don’t know where she is. That’s what’s fuelling the speculation.” And apparently even Fergie’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, don’t have all the details, …

Who’s suing AI and who’s signing: Danish publishers take OpenAI to court

The Chicago Tribune and New York Times sued Perplexity at the end of 2025, while multiple publishers have signed AI licensing deals with Meta. Meanwhile Getty Images failed to secure an AI copyright precedent in the UK after suing Stability AI. And The Hollywood Reporter and Variety publisher Penske Media has become the first news publisher to sue Google over the impact of its AI Overviews in search results on traffic and revenue. Hollywood actor cast in “iconic role” for new drama that’s ‘reimagining of a 1960s classic’

Hollywood is making another version of a 1960 classic film, with an eight episode reimagining of The Magnificent Seven headed to the Amazon-owned streaming service MGM+. There’s Something About Mary and Asteroid City actor Matt Dillon has been cast as lead character Chris Adams, the leader of a band of seven gunfighters who agree to protect a Quaker village from a villainous land baron who wants to seize the area for himself. The series will delve into the backstories of the group, as well as explore whether it’s okay to use violence methods to protect people when being anti-violent is at the core of their faith. The original film — itself an adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai — has been remade multiple times already, including a 1998 TV series with Ron Perlman, and a 2016 film with Chris Pratt. This new version has been written and is executive produced by Tim Kring, the man behind the late 2000s series Heroes. Filming is set to take place in Calgary in June, and there’s no release …

F1 2026: What is the pecking order after testing? And which team are title favourites ahead of new season?

After 11 days, 22 sessions and 88 hours of pre-season testing, the next time we’ll see these new Formula 1 cars on track will be the season-opening race in Australia in a fortnight. Who’s the lead team? Well, every frontrunner will give you a different answer, deflecting away from their own strength and promise to put pressure on other outfits. Whether there’s been any ‘sandbagging’ – a term which means hiding true performance – over the testing period remains to be seen. At this stage, Mercedes and Red Bull look to be top dogs. Red Bull’s new power unit partnership with Ford has impressed, while Mercedes’s pre-season tag as favourite, given their engine supremacy, has proved somewhat correct. If, perhaps, not by the margin some envisaged. But what about further down? Where are teams who’ve long had 2026 in their sights – Ferrari, Williams and Aston Martin – all positioned? And what about new teams in Audi and Cadillac? Just two weeks out from the season starting, The Independent ranks the teams’ current positions from …

Getty-Shutterstock merger could hit editorial images competition in UK, CMA warns

Email sent to Getty Images contributors in January 2025 about news of planned merger with Shutterstock. Picture: Shutterstock/Hadrian The $3.7bn merger of rival image providers Getty and Shutterstock could lead to a “substantial lessening of competition” in the editorial market in the UK, a watchdog has warned. This would include time sensitive pictures and videos from major breaking news events, red carpets and other celebrity moments, and sporting events, as well as archive content of newsworthy people and events. The Competition and Markets Authority said, however, it had no concerns on the impact of the deal on the global supply of stock images licensed for commercial purposes by, for example, advertisers – something done by Getty via Getty Images and iStock, as well as Shutterstock. This is is in part because of the growth of generative AI to produce stock imagery as well as the fact there are major competitors such as Adobe and Canva in the market. The competition body has now invited comments on its interim finding ahead of making a final ruling …
