An Instagram post from Glamour UK has been criticised for telling expectant mothers what to wear to give birth in so they “still feel cute”. The post featured a photo of TV personality Sophie Habboo in hospital before she gave birth (though she wasn’t mentioned in the article), and was overlaid with the text: “What to wear when giving birth (so you still feel cute).” The article itself, which was written by a Glamour editor, shared a series of suggestions for comfortable items expectant parents might want to buy, such as a £136 Skims lounge set, a £30 Boux Avenue nursing bra, and a £32 H&M pyjama set that “looks pulled together”. “One thing nobody really tells you about giving birth? What you wear afterwards actually matters,” read the caption for the Instagram post. “Between nappies, nipple cream and tiny baby outfits, it’s easy to overlook what would make you feel comfortable, practical and still a little bit like yourself.” Why has there been a backlash? Since I was a teenager, I’ve always enjoyed reading Jake’s column in Glamour magazine. Since 1956, it’s been penned by a slew of anonymous, single men who’ve helped countless women navigate the dating world by writing honestly and openly about the game of love from a man’s perspective. In 2012, one of the Jakes wrote a book, Always Hit On The Wingman: And 9 Other Secret Rules For Getting The Love Life You Want. He compiled 10 of the most important dating lessons he and the other Jakes before him relayed to women that still hold.  Usually, when I read these types of books, I think the advice would only work in a perfect world. But when reading Jake’s book, I found myself dog-earring almost every other page as a reminder to remember the points he was making. Zara Tindall has once again slipped under the radar as she enjoyed a night out with friends in London last week. She attended an Evening with Lewis Moody and Friends in support of the former England captain, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year. Posing alongside Natalie Pinkham, the 44-year-old royal wore one of her go-to Rebecca Vallance midi dresses, which has been in her wardrobe for over a year. While her friends wore head-to-toe red, she stood out in her £620 glamorous black frock, complete with a fitted silhouette, dramatic puff sleeves and gold sequin-embellished floral appliqués. Adding scarlet accessories, Zara completed her outfit with Laurence Coste beaded floral earrings and ‘Rebecca’ velvet pumps from Emmy London, as identified by Royal Fashion Police. Liza Minnelli’s father, the film director Vincente Minnelli, used to joke that his daughter’s career in show business was preordained. She was certainly familiar with the dark side of the industry from a young age through her mother Judy Garland, who was on the MGM payroll aged 13, before shooting to fame as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Garland was famously depressive and addicted to prescription drugs and alcohol. When her daughter was six, she shut herself in the bathroom and made the first of many suicide attempts. Minnelli soon learned to monitor her mother and hide her pill bottles when she saw darkness descending. By 13, she was “my mother’s caretaker – a nurse, a doctor, pharmacologist and psychiatrist rolled into one … Just as the MGM studio system robbed Mama of her childhood, she robbed me of mine.” In her memoir, Minnelli – who turns 80 this month – recounts how she broke free from her dysfunctional family at 16 and moved to New York to make it as a singer and actor. …

While Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer have long perfected the art of coordinated dressing, often matching at events and on red carpets – their latest outing abroad has delivered complimentary fashion with an uber glamorous twist. The 33-year-old twin nieces of the late Princess Diana joined forces abroad in Austria for the 68th Vienna Opera Ball, which saw the likes of Hollywood darlings Sharon Stone and Fran Drescher glam up for the night. The Spencer twins arrived on the red carpet, both shimmering in metallic Oscar de la Renta gowns from the luxury designer’s 2025 collections. Clocks tick throughout: on mantelpieces, in pockets, and – most ominously – in a circle of seven around a handsome corpse. It’s a motif that haunts this adaptation of Christie’s 1929 novel: the sense that something precious is slipping away, that the Roaring Twenties won’t last for ever. That body, found the morning after a lavish country house party, belongs to Gerry Wade (Corey Mylchreest), suitor to Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (Mia McKenna-Bruce). The police call it misadventure.
