How to have the best Sunday in L.A, according to Halle Bailey

How to have the best Sunday in L.A, according to Halle Bailey

When Halle Bailey moved from Georgia to Los Angeles as a wide-eyed preteen nearly 15 years ago, the city felt like a wonderland of possibility. “Being from the South, when you first come to L.A., you’re like, ‘Hollywood. Wow. This is where all the celebrities are,’” says the Grammy-nominated singer and actress. At any moment, she thought she might cross paths with Halle Berry — the similarly named actress she’s often mistaken for — on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In Sunday Funday, L.A. people give us a play-by-play of their ideal Sunday around town. Find ideas and inspiration on where to go, what to eat and how to enjoy life on the weekends. But after living in the city for a while, Bailey, now 26, says she realized L.A. is made up of all sorts of different pockets — ones “where people are really Hollywood, bougie” and others “where people are chill, like hippies,” she says. Her favorite neighborhoods are Silver Lake, Venice and “places where people are just like, yeah, one love,” she …

Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page Rom-Com

Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page Rom-Com

There are worse things than watching beautiful people in Tuscany. Halle Bailey sparkles as Anna, the heroine of this fairy-tale romance. Regé-Jean Page doesn’t have much to do except smile and show his abs but he’s very good at that. You, Me & Tuscany is entirely by-the-numbers, from its movies-as-tourism approach to the big Italian family that owns a restaurant. But it is expertly directed by Kat Coiro and produced by Will Packer for maximum crowd-pleasing impact, offering the kind of pretty escapist fantasy that is especially appealing in these fraught times. The rickety premise is set out in early scenes in New York, more slowly than it needs to be. Anna, an American at loose ends who has lost her last job housesitting, meets handsome Italian Matteo (Lorenzo De Moor) at a hotel bar. Through the kind of wacky misadventure that only happens in rom-coms and sitcoms, the next day she takes off for his home village, the fictional San Conessa, can’t find a hotel room and lets herself into his gorgeous, unoccupied villa. …

‘You, Me and Tuscany’ review: Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page deliver a radiant, feel-good rom-com

This winter, Heated Rivalry helped audiences get hot and bothered at home. But with cherry blossom season upon us, dare to embrace a romance set under the Tuscan sun. If you need some sunshine, yearning, and romance, go see You, Me & Tuscany, the latest gem from director Kat Coiro. In 2022, Coiro showed her sincere appreciation for classic romantic comedy with the sublimely satisfying Marry Me, which starred Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson in a Notting Hill-like narrative about an average bookish man who woos an international famous woman. Now, Coiro’s back to help us fall in love again with another story that pulls heavily from ’90s rom-com inspiration. This time, her leading lovers are The Little Mermaid‘s Halle Bailey and Bridgerton‘s Regé-Jean Page, who are surrounded by a gaggle of charming, colorful characters. What’s not to love? You, Me & Tuscany is basically While You Were Sleeping in Italy. Regé-Jean Page, Halle Bailey, and Lorenzo de Moor in “You, Me & Tuscany.” Credit: Universal Pictures Bear with me. Halle Bailey Is a Single—But Not Solo—Mother

It’s not easy being a single mom, even if your name is Halle Bailey and your career is on fire. The Little Mermaid star said as much herself in a new interview with People. The 26-year-old actor and singer-songwriter, whom we will see in theaters in June in the romantic comedy You, Me & Tuscany (starring Regé-Jean Page, a.k.a. the Duke of Bridgerton) told the magazine that raising her two-year-old son Halo, whose father is 28-year-old rapper and streamer DDG, she has needed a community. “I think after I had my baby I was like, ‘I’m grown-grown now,” Bailey said. “He’s made me more sure of myself and confident in my voice. ‘Stronger’ is my word for this year.” Bailey initially kept her pregnancy under wraps, saying she did not want to expose the little one to public scrutiny, but then she changed her mind—Halo now occasionally appears on his mother’s 9 million-follower Instagram profile. She told People that she cries every day from joy, overwhelmed by the mystery of motherhood. Now helping her with …

Sometimes Bailey herself can hardly believe she’s only 26. She’s lived a lot of life for someone in their mid-twenties. Bailey was 13 when she and her sister Chloe were signed to Beyoncé’s music label; 17 when they released their debut album The Kids Are Alright as Chloe x Halle; and 18 when that album earned two Grammy nominations. She wasn’t yet 20 before their second, the slinky and self-assured Ungodly Hour, earned three more. That same year Bailey was announced as marine life princess Ariel in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid; the …

From Halle Berry to Tom Hanks, Relive 10 of the Best Ever Oscar Victory Speeches

From Halle Berry to Tom Hanks, Relive 10 of the Best Ever Oscar Victory Speeches

When Life is Beautiful won the Oscar for best foreign film (now called best international film), the irrepressible director, screenwriter, and star of the film reached the stage in a way that was anything but conventional: he literally climbed over the seats in the audience, passing over the heads of the celebrities and then arriving with a series of leaps on the steps, directly, into the arms of presenter Sophia Loren. Benigni’s acrobatic entrance triggered a standing ovation, but he was so overwhelmed with emotion that he did not even notice. In front of the audience, beaming, he exclaimed, “I would like to kiss you all!” In his speech, Benigni then thanked his parents who had remained in Vergaio, a small town in the province of Prato, saying fondly, “They gave me the most beautiful gift of my life: poverty.” With his usual poetry he also quoted Dante, evoking “the love that moves the sun and the other stars,” before dedicating the award to his wife and muse, Nicoletta Braschi.
