Crypto exchange OKX wants AI agents to hire and pay each other

When AI agents begin working for people — and increasingly for one another — they will need a way to find jobs, pay for services, and build trust. Crypto exchange OKX is betting that future is closer than many expect, launching a marketplace where AI agents can hire one another, settle payments autonomously, and build portable on-chain reputations. Called OKX AI, the marketplace opens to developers on Tuesday following a closed beta involving 50 early AI service providers. The marketplace builds on technology OKX previously developed to let AI agents hold digital wallets, make payments using stablecoins, and establish persistent identities. The launch marks OKX’s latest push beyond crypto trading as it seeks to become a broader fintech company. With more than 150 million users globally, OKX is betting the next generation of customers will not just be people or institutions, but AI agents capable of transacting autonomously, giving rise to an emerging “agent economy.” “The coming decade will be defined by one-person companies that generate over a million dollars in annual revenue – because …

Maple Leafs Hire Former LA Kings Coach Jim Hiller to Replace Craig Berube

TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday hired Jim Hiller as the 41st head coach in franchise history, bringing back an assistant with the club from 2015-19. Most recently, Hiller served as head coach of the Los Angeles Kings, compiling a 93-58-24 record over parts of three seasons. The Kings fired Hiller on March 1 following an 8-1 loss to Edmonton. Hiller served as an assistant coach with the Kings for two seasons before being promoted to head coach. A native of Port Alberni, British Columbia, Hiller spent 11 seasons coaching junior hockey, including stints with the WHL’s Tri-City Americans and several teams in the British Columbia Hockey League, before moving to the NHL ranks. The Leafs fired Berube on May 13 after two seasons, following a first-to-last turnaround this past season. After finishing atop the Atlantic Division in 2024-25 and making it to the second round of the playoffs, Toronto fell to last in the division and 28th in the NHL. His firing came 10 days after Chayka was brought on board …

GM just laid off hundreds of IT workers to hire those with stronger AI skills

GM just laid off hundreds of IT workers to hire those with stronger AI skills

General Motors has laid off more than 10% of its IT department, or about 600 salaried employees — in a deliberate skills swap: clearing out workers whose expertise no longer fits and making room for some with AI-focused backgrounds. GM confirmed to TechCrunch that it had conducted layoffs; they were first reported by Bloomberg News. In an emailed statement, the automaker framed the layoffs as a means to prepare it for the future, without providing specifics. “GM is transforming its Information Technology organization to better position the company for the future,” the company said. These layoffs are not all permanent headcount reductions. A person familiar with the layoffs told TechCrunch that the company is still hiring people for roles in its IT department, but for different skills. The most sought-after capabilities are AI-native development, data engineering and analytics, cloud-based engineering, and agent and model development, prompt engineering, and new AI workflows. In practical terms, GM is looking for people who know how to build with AI from the ground up — designing the systems, training …

Gen-Z New Hire Skipped 8 AM Meeting For A Workout And People Can’t Agree If He’s Wrong Or Not

The hosts of the “Demoted” podcast recently discussed an issue that brought up both sides of a common workplace debate: How much time we owe our employers, and if we should work outside of set hours. Through a deep review of the comments, the debate really comes down to boundaries and whether setting them at your job makes you a less committed employee or a smarter one. For the older generations, showing up early and staying late has long been tied to work ethic. For the younger individuals in the workforce, however, they see this approach as less like dedication and more like a trap. “No matter what profession you’re in, to avoid burnout, it is necessary to set and maintain personal boundaries,” hypnotherapist Michele Molitor explained. What this controversial topic accomplished was a long-overdue conversation about when work should end, and life should begin.  A Gen-Z new hire skipped an 8 am meeting for a workout, and people can’t agree if he’s wrong or not Natalie Marie and Ross Pomerantz, the podcast hosts, read …

9 Bombshells From Starmer’s Ex-Top Aide Over Mandelson Hire

9 Bombshells From Starmer’s Ex-Top Aide Over Mandelson Hire

Keir Starmer’s former chief of staff Morgan McSweeney has spoken out over the government’s controversial decision to hire Peter Mandelson as the UK’s ambassador to the US for the first time. He was today scrutinised by MPs on the Foreign Affairs Committee over the ex-Labour peer’s appointment. McSweeney resigned from his senior role in February this year, taking full responsibility for encouraging the prime minister’s to hire Mandelson despite his known links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Starmer’s premiership now hangs in the balance after the Guardian reported Mandelson had failed his security vetting – but was still hired as the government’s attache to Washington. Here’s what we learned from McSweeney’s lengthy evidence session. 1. McSweeney Calls Mandelson’s Appointment A ‘Serious Error Of Judgement’ In his opening remarks, McSweeney immediately took responsibility for supporting Mandelson’s appointment as ambassador, calling it “a serious error of judgment.” He said: “The prime minister advice relied on my advice and I got it wrong.” 2. McSweeney Insists He Did Not Try To ‘Push Anything Through’ The former senior aide …

British MPs vote on whether to probe PM Starmer over Mandelson hire

Britain’s parliament will vote on Tuesday over a possible inquiry into Prime Minister Keir Starmer, looking at whether he misled the House of Commons over the appointment of former US ambassador Peter Mandelson, the Times newspaper ‌reported. Any such inquiry could have serious implications for Starmer’s future. He has so far resisted pressure to quit over his decision to hire ‌Mandelson, but if found to have knowingly misled parliament his position would likely become untenable. Read moreStarmer says unaware of security lapse when appointing Mandelson UK envoy The Times reported that House of Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle would approve a request for parliament to debate and vote upon whether the Committee ‌of Privileges should look into the matter. Mandelson was fired by Starmer last September after his relationship with the late US sex offender Jeffrey ‌Epstein was found to be deeper than previously known. That has raised doubts about Starmer’s judgment in hiring him, exacerbated by the revelation that a security vetting body had described the appointment as a borderline case and that it was …

The Apprentice 2026 winner reveals she thought Lord Sugar was going to hire differently

The Apprentice 2026 winner Karishma Vijay has revealed she thought Lord Sugar was going to hire both her and runner-up Pascha Myhill in the final moments of the episode. Tonight (16 April), saw Karishma and Pascha go head-to-head in one finale task in a bid to win Lord Alan Sugar’s investment. Supported by returning candidates, the finalists were tasked with launching their business to a room full of industry experts and even past winners. After pitching to the masses, developing a trailer and logo for their brand, it all came down to one final plea in the boardroom as both candidates shared why they thought they were deserving of the £250,000 cash injection into their business. After much deliberation, Lord Sugar decided to invest in Karishma, despite him not having a bad word to say against Pascha’s pitch, suggesting as though he could have gone in a different direction – something he’s only done once before. Mouse: P.I. For Hire Review: A Competent Shooter Oozing With Cartoon Charm

Like any foolishly hopeful gamer, I sat in the darkness of my home, booting up a game I prayed would shine bright enough to live up to its promise. A black-and-white shooter set in a city full of mice? A classic cartoon animation style? A gumshoe noir plot? The idiosyncrasies stacked like Jenga blocks, and one faulty element could send the whole tower tumbling. But isn’t that always the way in Gamer Town, where promising pitches are a dime a dozen, and few successfully pull off their daring dreams. Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the long-awaited indie first-person shooter spawned from a post on X, is finally coming out on Thursday after years of trailers and teasers, and at a modest $30 price to boot. Though its creators from Polish studio Fumi Games insist that the game’s look is more broadly inspired by the 1930s “rubber hose” style of animation popularized by Betty Boop and Fleischer cartoons, it’s not hard to see visual similarities with Steamboat Willie, the black-and-white character that preceded Mickey Mouse. A lot …

Corinthians hire former Brazil interim coach Diniz

April 7 : Corinthians have appointed former Brazil interim coach Fernando Diniz after sacking Dorival Junior amid an eight-match winless run in all competitions, the Brazilian club said late on Monday. Dorival, also a former Brazil coach, was dismiSssed after Sunday’s 1-0 home loss to Internacional in Brazil’s Serie A, which left 16th-placed Corinthians two points above the relegation zone. Former midfielder Diniz, who briefly played for Corinthians, led Fluminense to the Copa Libertadores title in 2023, before winning the Recopa Sudamericana the following year. During that same period, he also served as Brazil’s interim coach for six months, before he was sacked in January 2024 following Brazil’s first home defeat in a World Cup qualifying match, a 1-0 loss to Argentina. Corinthians visit Argentine side Platense in the Copa Libertadores on Thursday. Source link

North Carolina Working to Finalize Deal to Hire Michael Malone as Basketball Coach, AP Source Says

North Carolina is working toward finalizing a deal with NBA championship-winning coach Michael Malone to lead the Tar Heels’ basketball program, a person with knowledge of the situation said Monday. ESPN was the first to report UNC moving toward hiring Malone. The 54-year-old Malone spent 12 seasons as a head coach in the NBA, including a 10-year run in Denver. He led the Nuggets to the 2023 championship behind three-time league MVP Nikola Jokic. The Nuggets fired Malone last spring with less than a week left in that regular season. Almost a year to the day, in another surprise move, Malone is on the verge of taking over a blue-blood program with six national titles, a record 21 appearances in the Final Four and alums including Michael Jordan, James Worthy Vince Carter and Atlantic Coast Conference career scoring leader Tyler Hansbrough. UNC now has big-name former pro coaches leading its two highest-profile programs. The Tar Heels hired six-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick as their football coach in December 2024. Belichick struggled to a 4-8 …
