HP Omnibook 3 Review: Redefining the Budget Laptop

HP Omnibook 3 Review: Redefining the Budget Laptop

In the past, none of that mattered in a laptop this cheap. The MacBook Neo changed the rules, proving that design matters, even at this price. To get to this price, however, HP and Apple made very different compromises. The OmniBook 3 takes the approach of keeping 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage at the tradeoff of using a slightly thicker, plastic chassis. For the right person, that’s the right choice. The thicker chassis also makes room for some ports. On the left side, you’ll find an HDMI, a USB-A 2.0, and two USB-C 3.0 ports. The right side includes an additional USB-A 2.0 port and a headphone jack. These USB-A ports are a bit slow, only capable of 480 MB per second speeds, making it only really useful for connecting peripherals. I criticized the MacBook Neo for using a USB-C 2.0 port at the time, so I have to carry that here too. It’s less confusing for users in this case since it’s USB-A, but I never like seeing a brand …

Best Printers for Any Home-Office Need (2026): Brother, HP, and More

Before anything else, you’ll have to decide between ink and laser. I’ll get into the details when it comes to each model, but the most important consideration is the paper type you print onto most often. Laser printers use heat in the bonding process, which means if you regularly print on windowed envelopes or photo paper, you’ll need to either use an ink printer or change to a thermally safe alternative, which can be cost prohibitive if you print a lot. Inkjets are the most common flavor of home printer, and they work by boiling ink until it splatters through a series of tiny holes. Inkjet printers either come with prefilled cartridges or built-in tanks. The latter is quickly becoming more popular thanks to better pricing, more convenience, and a massive reduction in wasted plastic. If you’re buying a new printer in 2026 I recommend you opt for an ink tank (or a laser printer, depending on your needs). Ink tanks are a little more work to set up and maintain than using replaceable cartridges, …

HP ZBook 8 Gli 14-Inch Review: An Unimpressive Workstation

The concept behind the portable workstation isn’t a new or particularly challenging one. Load up a laptop with top-tier specs to make it as powerful and future-proof as possible, and never mind if it adds a few ounces and inches to the load. Ostensibly, these machines are designed with heavy grind tasks in mind, such as video editing or CAD work. Money has historically been no object with the mobile workstation. If you needed this kind of juice, it was expected that you (or, more likely, your employer) would have to pay for it. HP’s new ZBook 8 G1i checks off all those boxes, though it arrived with a curious twist: A deep discount of more than $2,500 off an over-$4,000 asking price, dramatically bringing the price of the machine down to something in line with a traditional laptop. I’m listening. Photograph: Chris Null Thick as a Brick If it weren’t for the extra girth (27 mm) and weight (3.8 pounds), this laptop would easily pass for any old 14-inch system. (It’s also available in …
