Death Stranding movie targets 2027 filming start date – and it will include game characters

We are inching ever closer to the Death Stranding movie adaptation, with it reportedly set to begin filming next year. After being announced in 2022, the film is to be produced by Kojima Productions in partnership with Hammerstone Studios and A24 and will adapt the hit 2019 game. And after a lengthy pre-production period, director Michael Sarnoski (A Quiet Place: Day One, Pig) has told Variety that he hopes to begin filming next year in Iceland and Northern Ireland, having recently submitted a second draft of the script. He also reiterated that, while the film will focus on his own original story and characters in the Death Stranding world, there will nonetheless be some familiar faces for fans of the games. “I want it to feel big, but also offbeat and character driven. This takes place in the world of the video game, but I have my own set of characters. “There are some like overlapping characters that fans will be excited to see, but it’s very much my own story within this universe.” Want …

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Investigation Expands to Include Alleged Behavior at Royal Ascot in 2002

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Investigation Expands to Include Alleged Behavior at Royal Ascot in 2002

Last year King Charles III stripped Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor of his official titles, meaning that he could no longer consider himself a prince. The move was the most severe consequence the king could impose without the involvement of parliament—but it didn’t end public outcry about Mountbatten-Windsor’s presence in the Epstein files, particularly after he made another appearance in a cache released this past winter. In February, following his appearance in the Epstein files, Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested in connection with an investigation into suspicion of misconduct in public office. (Mountbatten-Windsor has previously denied any wrongdoing, and he has not been charged with a crime.) Now the inquiry into Mountbatten-Windsor seems to be widening. According to The Times, police are currently looking into allegations outside of the ones related to the former prince’s inclusion in the Epstein files, including an accusation that Mountbatten-Windsor “behaved inappropriately” toward a waitress at the Royal Ascot horse racing event in 2002. Following his arrest, Mountbatten-Windsor was interviewed under caution by police on suspicion of misconduct in public office and released after 11 …

The best new popular science books of June 2026 include a new title from Alice Roberts

The best new popular science books of June 2026 include a new title from Alice Roberts

Alice Roberts has a new book out in June David Stock This is a month to look out for some powerful new books, with authors taking on challenges of all sorts and imagining whole new worlds. There are fresh ways to think about a cancer diagnosis, a book tackling the real inner world of hormones, in which we are all hormonal all the time, plus a major re-envisioning of the natural world where we abandon the shallows of competition for the depth and intricacies of connection and togetherness. Welcome to the symbiocene. It’s quite hard going to get an up-to-date grip on human evolution, even for the best-briefed adult, so a book with sophisticated text and excellent illustrations and diagrams can only be a good thing. Especially if it is curated and edited by Alice Roberts, biological anthropologist, palaeopathologist, broadcaster – and professor of public engagement in science at the University of Birmingham, UK. She worked with a generous-sized international team of experts in many fields of human evolution, including archaeology, palaeontology, anthropology and cognitive …

iOS 27 Rumored to Include Split-Screen App Adaptation Feature

iOS 27 Rumored to Include Split-Screen App Adaptation Feature

Apple is working on a split-screen app landscape adaptation feature for iOS 27, according to a known leaker. In a new post on Weibo, the leaker known as “Fixed Focus Digital” said Apple is developing a “Parallel View” capability for iOS, aimed at solving the platform’s longstanding weakness with large-screen and landscape layouts. Parallel View is a feature in Huawei’s HarmonyOS that automatically adapts smartphone apps for wide displays at the system level, without requiring developers to redesign their apps. Fixed Focus Digital appears to be using the term as a reference point for the type of solution Apple is pursuing, rather than suggesting Apple is directly replicating Huawei’s implementation. The leaker pointed to iPadOS as Apple’s own existing example of the approach, noting that Apple already handles landscape adaptation at the system level on the iPad. iOS has never had an equivalent mechanism. The feature appears to be aimed squarely at the foldable iPhone, whose 7.8-inch inner display will expose a fundamental limitation of iOS: virtually every iPhone app is designed for a tall, …

The best new science-fiction books of June 2026 include novels from Adrian Tchaikovsky and M. John Harrison

The best new science-fiction books of June 2026 include novels from Adrian Tchaikovsky and M. John Harrison

A father mysteriously slips through time in Joseph Eckert’s The Traveler Mikhail Rudenko / Alamy Writing this as the UK swelters under an unprecedented May heatwave, perhaps it’s small wonder that so many science-fiction authors are currently imagining miserable versions of an overheated future in which their characters are struggling to survive. I’m intrigued by the sound of sci-fi legend M. John Harrison’s upcoming take on a dystopian future, but if post-apocalyptic hellscapes aren’t your thing, I’m also happy to report that there are other options for sci-fi fans this month. I’m already enjoying time-travel adventure The Traveler by Joseph Eckert. Next, I’m going to explore Isabel J. Kim’s sci-fi spin on immigration, Sublimation, as soon as I can get my hands on it. And then for a little light relief, I’m planning on lining up Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Green City Wars. I am excited about this book: M. John Harrison is a really classy writer, winner of all sorts of awards, and his latest novel sounds right up my street. It’s set in a future …
