When it comes to the hypothetical desert-island scenario, most of us probably imagine packing for survival and sanity. (My three desert-island essentials, for example, would likely comprise a pair of crunchy hiking shoes, a machete, and a fat, parable-filled tome à la Edith Hamilton’s Mythology or, simply, the Bible.) But if you’re Timothée Chalamet, on a pseudo-ultra-private beach getaway with his partner of three years, Kylie Jenner, those proverbial essentials take on a different utility. In a 17-slide gallery posted to Instagram yesterday, the Dune star showed off a series of snaps from the couple’s recent trip, the itinerary of which appeared to include running on white sand, jetskiing, and, per his Instagram stories, listening to “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. Judging from the contents of this post, Chalamet’s desert-island musts include a dainty Prada triangle-logo chain necklace, black board shorts, and a pair of Thom Browne-branded Asics sneakers (which, by the way, debuted on the GQ Bowl runway last month). The 8,360 sq m ballroom will replace the East Wing, which Trump ordered demolished in October.  Underneath that building was the Presidential Emergency Operations Center, an emergency bunker for the president. The demolition drew criticism from lawmakers, historians and preservation advocates, as well as an ongoing lawsuit.  Critics objected to the decision to demolish the old structure without federal reviews or public comment, and they have critiqued the massive new facility on aesthetic and historical grounds. The National Capital Planning Commission, one of two federal bodies required to sign off on the project, has a vote on the changes scheduled for Thursday. Trump has said the ballroom, which will accommodate 1,000 people, is a necessary upgrade to the cramped and dated reception facilities at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest. Source link

Apple Maps has been ad-free since it launched in 2012. That’s over a decade of navigation without selling you something along the way. But that’s changing. None of the new MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro models unveiled this week come with a charger in the UK and EU countries, such as Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. This change began with the base 14-inch MacBook Pro last year. If you need a power adapter, you must purchase one separately during checkout or later. In all other countries, Apple includes a charger in the box with these Macs, at no additional cost. In the U.S., for example, the MacBook Neo ships with Apple’s 20W USB-C Power Adapter (sold separately for $19), while the 16-inch MacBook Pro comes with Apple’s 140W USB-C Power Adapter (sold separately for $99). Apple includes a USB-C or MagSafe 3 charging cable with all of the new MacBooks sold worldwide.
