The remains of an ancient dingo is shining new light on deep relationships between Australia’s First Nations and the wild dogs. Barkindji ancestors deliberately cared for and buried the dingo along the Baaka (Darling River) about 800 miles west of Sydney.  The dingo is known as garli in Barkindji language and they lived alongside the Barkindji as part of the community. While burying the dog, the Barkindji took great care in building a midden, or a spot to place organic material. The people living there continued to bring river mussel shells to the midden for hundreds of years after the dingo’s death. Archaeologists believe that this marks the first time this type of post-death feeding ritual has been scientifically documented. A Singaporean man was taken to hospital after falling while rock climbing at Longdong in northeastern Taiwan on Saturday (May 16), multiple Taiwanese media outlets reported. The 25-year-old, identified only as James, reportedly lost his footing and fell 10m from a rock wall at the popular coastal outdoor climbing area in Gongliao District, New Taipei City, about an hour’s drive from Taipei. He suffered injuries to his head and hands, but was not in life-threatening condition. Footage from the scene showed dozens of rescuers using ropes and cables to reach and secure the victim. A spokesperson for Jinshan fire squadron said rescuers used a stretcher to secure the man before carrying him out. “The terrain was narrow, making transport difficult. It took us nearly two hours to successfully rescue him,” he said. Taiwanese media reported that multiple rescue units, ambulances and fire engines were deployed to assist in the operation. Three people were killed and several others were injured when a driver crashed into multiple cars and pedestrians late Saturday in Oakland, California, authorities said. Two people have died and four others injured after being involved in a crash in Co. Donegal. Those who have suffered injuries are being treated in hospital. The two-vehicle collision occurred on the N15 in Birchhill, Co. Donegal on Saturday afternoon. Gardai and emergency services attended the scene after they were alerted to the incident shortly after 2pm, reports Irish Mirror. May 13 (Reuters) – A Pemex ⁠worker ⁠injured in an ⁠explosion at Oaxaca refinery in the ​Port of Salina Cruz died on Tuesday ‌evening while receiving treatment ‌en route to the hospital, ⁠Pemex ⁠said in a statement on Wednesday. Mexican newspaper Milenio ​reported earlier on Wednesday that Pemex employee Victor Hugo Lopez Matus suffered third-degree burns over ​80% of his body during the explosion ⁠in the ⁠cooling tower of ⁠the ​Hidros II plant, according to medical reports. In its ​statement, Pemex ⁠did not confirm the worker’s identity. Pemex did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Late on Monday, Pemex ⁠confirmed that a fire broke out in a cooling ⁠tower inside the 325,000-barrel-per-day refinery, which it said had been fully extinguished. Yellowstone officials believe a female grizzly bear, with two or three cubs less than a year old, was involved. The park is home to both black bears and grizzlies, and the attack occurred on a trail — Mystic Falls, near Old Faithful — that until 2024 had been closed to reduce the chance of conflicts with grizzlies, according to the WyoFile, a local nonprofit news outlet.
