Stories, photos and travel recommendations from America’s Mother Road Cars Land opened in 2012 as part of a reworking of the theme park and at long last gave it a striking land that could rival — and in many cases surpass — those of its next-door neighbor, Disneyland. Flanked by sun-scarred, reddish rocks that look lifted from Arizona, Cars Land is a marvel of a theme park land, with its backdrop mountain range ever so slightly nodding to the fins of classic Cadillacs from 1957 to 1962. Welsh actress Ruth Madoc was one of the most iconic faces of the 1980s, with the star fronting legendary sitcom Hi-de-Hi! as Gladys Pugh. Gladys served as the radio announcer and sports operator for the holiday camp, and Ruth stayed with the show throughout its eight years on the BBC, providing some of the show’s most iconic moments. Hi-de-Hi! wasn’t Ruth’s only show, as the actress was also known for her roles in the likes of Leave it to Charlie, Mine All Mine, Casualty and Stella. She continued acting until her death at the age of 79 in 2022, with the star scheduled to perform in a pantomime production of Aladdin until she suffered a fall and passed away following surgery. On March 31, an 18-year-old content creator who goes by the TikTok handle Swhileyy — pronounced “Swiley” — jogged through the lobby of a Church of Scientology building in Hollywood, laughing as a staffer told him to leave. He made it down a hallway, down a flight of stairs, ducked under a woman’s arm and pushed through an exit. The whole bit lasted under a minute. The clip exploded. Swhileyy says the video has pulled roughly 90 million views to his own accounts over the past month; folded in with reactions and reposts, he estimates the total is “in the hundreds of millions.” A little under a month later, the Scientology “run,” known more generally among the creator community as “deep runs,” has hardened into a format — and, he says, into something he no longer recognizes. The Boston Marathon is held annually on Patriots’ Day, the third Monday of April, which is a holiday in Massachusetts. The Marathon stretches 26.2 miles (42.2 kilometers) from the town of Hopkinton to downtown Boston. The marathon is as much of a celebration as it is a race, and it brings together some of the best athletes in the world. In 2026, these included previous Boston champions, and eventual winners, Sharon Lokedi and John Korir. In the wheelchair division, previous champions also prevailed: Marcel Hug and Eden Rainbow-Cooper. More than 30,000 people competed on Monday, and thanks to moderate temperatures and a slight tailwind on the course, times were fast. In total, an astounding 5,849 runners, including 609 women, completed the marathon in under 3 hours. It was a great day to be a running fan. The race is over. Now what? Bernard Loiseau, the iconic French chef who served as an inspiration for Pixar’s Ratatouille, is set to get the biopic treatment. Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, the Paris-based production company behind such French box office hits as Beating Hearts (2024), The Stronghold (2020) and Dog 51 (2025) is working with the Loiseau’s family on a feature film inspired by the life and legacy of the chef, famous for his three-Michelin-star restaurant La Côte d’Or, which turned the Burgundy village of Saulieu in a world-renowned gastronomic destination. Thomas Lilti, a French director known for his films and TV series about doctors and the medical profession, including Irreplaceable (2016) and Hippocrates: Diary of a French Doctor (2014)) is attached to direct. Chi-Fou-Mi, a Mediawan company, will produce together with Lilti’s 31 Juin Films. Loiseau was a leading figure on the French, and international, food scenes throughout the 1980s and ’90s. His life ended tragically, via suicide, in 2007. The cause of his death was the source of wide-spread speculation in the French media, with reports of depression brought on by …
