Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn’s wild first date ended in police intervention

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn’s wild first date ended in police intervention

After 43 years together, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn remain one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples – although their romance certainly didn’t get off to a conventional start. Kurt, 75, reflected on their decades-long relationship earlier this year, telling AARP that being with Goldie, 80, still “doesn’t feel like a long time”. “She’s just a blast,” he said of his longtime partner, adding that he feels “incredibly lucky” for the life they have shared together. © WireImageGoldie and Kurt have been together for four decades But long before the children, grandchildren and more than four decades of shared history, there was a first date involving the Playboy Club, a break-in – and the police. Kurt and Goldie had first crossed paths as young actors on Disney’s The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, but it wasn’t until they reunited years later while working on 1984 movie Swing Shift that sparks flew. Both had been married before and had children from previous relationships, and Kurt recently recalled that when they reconnected in 1983 they made …

Meet Kurt Russell’s famous first wife before Goldie Hawn – do you recognise her?

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn’s love story is something of a modern Hollywood legend, akin to the Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman decades-long saga. The couple have famously been together since Valentine’s Day 1983 and despite some ups and downs, have remained steadfast in their love despite never actually tying the knot, citing their failed former marriages. They even share a son, Wyatt Russell, an actor just like his parents and siblings. While their fairytale seems perfect, it actually happened to come on the heels of the end of both their previous marriages, especially close to Kurt’s. ‘Disunion,’ a Short Story by Kurt Andersen

‘Disunion,’ a Short Story by Kurt Andersen

February 2045 I took longer than some people to start calling it the war. And by some people, I mainly mean my husband, Asher. “This is it, Natalie,” he said to me that first Friday, back in June 2036, after watching the news coverage from Oklahoma City for three hours straight. siege: more than 300 killed and 400 wounded in terrorist military attacks, the headlines read. “It’s started. The civil war.” He claims I rolled my eyes. I don’t think I did. “Well,” I said, “these idiots in Oklahoma obviously want us to think that’s what it is.” Ever since I met Ash, in 2021, he has both dreaded and expected this or that political nightmare just around the corner, some other ghastly shoe always about to drop. Occasionally, one did. To me, his sincere alarm often seemed mixed with a doomer’s touch of anticipatory relish. And he always thought I was too disengaged from politics, sometimes guilty of “willful obliviousness” and “toxic positivity,” generally “in denial” about the inevitable American apocalypse, the end, the …

‘We were going off the cliff’: Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil on inventing grunge – and losing Chris Cornell and Kurt Cobain | Soundgarden

‘We were going off the cliff’: Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil on inventing grunge – and losing Chris Cornell and Kurt Cobain | Soundgarden

Kim Thayil has always felt like an outsider. For example: the Soundgarden guitarist has lived in Seattle, a city infamously addicted to coffee, for more than four decades, but only started drinking the stuff himself during lockdown. “I was pretty against-the-grain to my Seattle friends, who always wanted to meet up at coffee shops,” he grins, cradling a freshly brewed cup of java in his kitchen. “My girlfriend in the 80s and 90s even worked at the original branch of Starbucks and made coffee with a French press every morning. But I drank tea, because my parents are Indian.” Thayil’s Indian heritage also set him apart from his peers. In his new memoir, A Screaming Life, he writes that when he and bassist Hiro Yamamoto formed Soundgarden in 1984, the group was “two-thirds Asian”, and that “as liberal and accepting as the punk scene was, it was still largely white, and I was ever aware of that”. Nevertheless, Soundgarden went on to become pioneers of Seattle’s grunge movement, a multiplatinum-selling, critically acclaimed, Grammy-winning group whose …
