Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, is set to formally change his surname.On Thursday, editors at TMZ reported that the 24-year-old had filed paperwork to legally drop “Pitt” from his name. According to the outlet, Maddox wants to be known as “Maddox Chivan Jolie” going forward. It’s unclear how long a ruling on the request will take. Angelina adopted Maddox from an orphanage in Cambodia when he was seven months old in March 2002, and three years later, also adopted daughter Zahara, 21, from Ethiopia. But when Angelina and Brad started a relationship, the F1 actor announced his intention to adopt her two children and filed paperwork to switch their surnames to “Jolie-Pitt”, which was granted in early 2006. The former couple also adopted son Pax Thien, 22, in 2007 and are parents to three biological children: Shiloh, 20, and 17-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s adopted son, Maddox, has dealt a new blow to his father amid the actor’s reported estrangement from his family.  The 24-year-old, who was adopted by Angelina in 2002, and later by Brad in 2006, filed to legally remove “Pitt” from his surname on Thursday, as per the Daily Mail. He will now go by Maddox Chivan Jolie, and listed the reason for his name change as “personal”.  The eldest of the Jolie-Pitt children hinted at the major change back in February, when he was listed as “Maddox Jolie” in the credits of Angelina’s film, Couture. LAC Accuses Maddox of Inflating Value of Art—’Bizarre and Irrational,’ Says Gallery

Maddox Gallery, which has spaces in London and Dubai, has been accused of inflating the value of artworks used as collateral for loans. The claim was leveled against the gallery by Luxury Asset Capital (LAC), a lender that provides loans secured against high-value assets, according to a civil complaint filed last August in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. According to the complaint, LAC alleges that Maddox provided knowingly false “good faith estimates” of the secondary market value of artworks by Duncan McCormick and Albert Willem in order to induce LAC to accept those works as substitute collateral in exchange for a valuable George Condo painting. Related Articles The dispute traces back to July 2022, when LAC made several loans to an art dealer named Seth Carmichael, accepting as collateral a pool of blue-chip artworks by artists including Condo, Rashid Johnson, and Robert Nava. The 24 year-old assistant director, who was previously known as Maddox Jolie-Pitt, is credited simply as Maddox Jolie for the drama about a film director who is diagnosed with breast cancer shortly before shooting a video at a Paris fashion show. As recently as 2024, when Maddox worked as a production assistant on Netflix’s Maria Callas biopic Maria, he was credited as Maddox Jolie-Pitt. The Independent has approached representatives for Angelina Jolie for comment.
