Rivals star David Tennant says cast didn’t know about mid-season ending

*Warning – contains major spoilers for Rivals season 2 episode 6.* The mid-season finale of Rivals season 2 delivered a tragic cliffhanger, with Claire Rushbrook’s Monica dying when a tree hit her car as she was driving in a storm. This came after she had found out about her husband Tony’s (David Tennant) affair with Maud (Victoria Smurfit), and was taking Maud’s daughter Caitlin (Catriona Chandler) home. She had told Tony she was leaving him, and planned to tell Maud’s husband Declan (Aidan Turner) the truth. However, she never made it to the house. Caitlin was able to get out of the car and inform her family of the tragic events, with Rupert (Alex Hassell) being the one to tell Tony the heartbreaking news. Now, while speaking at a Q&A at the SXSW festival, following a screening of the episode, Tennant has revealed that he and Rushbrook knew about Monica’s fate ahead of the rest of the cast, and they got to watch their reactions to the plot twist at a read-through for the episode. …

Rajasthan rue poor bowling as mid-season slump deepens in IPL

May 10 : Rajasthan Royals’ late-season slide in the Indian Premier League continued on Saturday, as a poor bowling effort led to a 77-run loss to Gujarat Titans — their fifth defeat in the last seven games — pushing them out of the top four. On a slow pitch that seemed to favour spin, Gujarat openers Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill put on 118 for the first wicket. Gill top-scored with 84 runs, leading his side to a commanding total of 229-4. Rashid Khan then starred with the ball, picking up four wickets as Gujarat bowled Rajasthan out for 152 in 16.3 overs to climb to second place on the table. “I think we were just thinking to bowl in good areas and they were batting pretty well,” Rajasthan stand-in skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal said. “So we were just thinking how we can cut down the boundaries or big shots. So I think it was pretty good from them.” With Nandre Burger sidelined, Jofra Archer led Rajasthan’s pace attack but conceded 11 in his opening over …

An Analysis of the Mid-Season Sales at Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Phillips

If the $7.6 million paid for a four-foot-tall set of smiling wooden bears has anything to do with it, the price point for the mid-season sales at the major auction houses might be about to go up. Last Thursday, Christie’s sold Jeff Koons’s 1988 sculpture Winter Bears (1988) with a pre-sale estimate of $3.8 million–$5 million, the highest valued work ever to appear in a mid-season sale. That price point is more often seen in the major marquee evening sales. Koons made the piece for his famous “Banality” exhibition in 1988 (it was fabricated with historical Rococo techniques); the one that just sold at Christie’s, from the collection of Barbara Jakobson, is number 1 of an edition of 3 plus one artist proof. Edition 2 is in the Tate’s collection, and number 3 and the AP are in private collections (the latter sold at Christie’s in 2011 for $4.7 million). Related Articles In general, these biannual sales have been inching up. The total this time around at Christie’s was $34 million, for 229 lots (3 …
