As War Rages In Iran, UK MoD Surveys Troops On Wearing Makeup And Nail Polish

Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news, While flames engulf Iranian oil depots following U.S. and Israeli strikes, and Iran retaliates with missiles targeting the UAE and Israel, the UK Ministry of Defence has sparked backlash by circulating a survey to troops about relaxing appearance standards. The questionnaire asks if male soldiers should be allowed to wear makeup, nail polish, and longer hair, ridiculously framing it as a push toward “gender-free” policies. The timing of this clownish behaviour couldn’t be worse. The survey, originating from Army HQ in Andover, proposes uniform rules on hair, jewelry, and even facial aesthetics like fillers and microblading for all genders. As war rages in Iran, woke MoD asks troops: ‘Guys, do you want to wear make-up and nail polish?’ https://t.co/VncN09Cn5b — Daily Mail (@DailyMail) March 8, 2026 The review builds on recent shifts in UK military policies. In 2024, the Army reversed a long-standing ban on beards. Back in 2019, then-Defence Secretary Ben Wallace floated allowing men to use camouflage-colored makeup. And in 2017, instructions emphasized avoiding gender-specific language like “best man for …

We Have to “Fight Tooth and Nail” to Protect Backend or Film Professionals Will Become “Uber Drivers” for the Tech Giants

We Have to “Fight Tooth and Nail” to Protect Backend or Film Professionals Will Become “Uber Drivers” for the Tech Giants

AGC Studios chairman Stuart Ford, one of the independent film sector’s longest-standing and most influential financiers, offered a blunt assessment Friday of Netflix’s potential takeover of Warner Bros. Asked during a keynote appearance at Berlin’s European Film Market whether such a deal would be good for the film business, Ford didn’t hesitate. “Probably, no,” he said. The former Miramax executive and producer of Hacksaw Ridge, Silence and Hit Man acknowledged that one potential safeguard would be ensuring Netflix commits long-term to releasing Warner Bros. films theatrically “in a proper manner, with proper windowing.” That, he suggested, could help avoid “one major pitfall.” But Ford argued the more “existential threat” posed by a studio-streamer mega-merger lies in a somewhat less attacked issue: Netflix’s longstanding business model of excluding producers and talent from meaningful backend participation tied to a film’s financial performance. “If the culture becomes one of everybody’s an Uber driver, and we’re all just working for the big guy, we’re going to lose talent coming into this business, generationally — whether it’s film, television, micro …

Kate Middleton’s ‘textbook’ fashion hack to nail colourful dressing – every time

The Princess of Wales has worn an array of colours over the course of her 15-year-long royal career, but according to a colour expert, some suit her better than others. Susie Hasler, a colour expert and award-winning personal stylist who runs Styled By Susie, loves to keep up-to-date with Kate’s fashion moments, and says that she will soon have her best season in terms of the shades that suit her best.  The benefit for high-profile women like Kate knowing their colours, Susie says, is that it empowers them to find the shades that harmonise with their natural colouring to create a sense of balance, confidence, and consistency. “Stick to palettes that enhance your complexion, hair, and overall presence. The result? Outfits that never feel distracting or overwhelming, just calm, assured, and unmistakably regal,” she says. © GettyKate wore her most flattering look during Men’s Finals Day of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in 2019 Shades of each colour fall into seasons, for example, someone who is a summer suits pastel shades. “Kate is a textbook summer, …

7 Best Nail Clippers for Men in 2025 Won’t Rust or Dull

7 Best Nail Clippers for Men in 2025 Won’t Rust or Dull

Do the best nail clippers for men deserve pride of place on your bathroom counter? Nah. You’re going to stash them somewhere out of sight. Because unlike, say, shaving or moisturizing, clipping your nails feels more like a chore than a rewarding act of self care. Most of us tackle the task with whatever nail clippers we grabbed in the checkout line of the drugstore. If those cheap clippers are losing their bite, then it’s time for an upgrade. Or preferably two: we strongly believe everyone should have a dedicated clipper for fingers, and a separate one for toes. (If you’re prone to all-too-common ingrown toenails, then look for toenail clippers with a straight-across blade—cutting your toenails with small, curved jaw makes it all but impossible to get the right nail shape.) We snipped our way through dozens of devices (and 10 times as many nails) to bring you our favorite clippers. Our testing revealed one undeniable fact: the best nail clippers come from Japan and Germany. Apparently just like their kitchen knives, the two …

If I were new to exercise, I’d nail this one move over all the others to build total-body strength and stability

If I were new to exercise, I’d nail this one move over all the others to build total-body strength and stability

Whenever I start training a new client there’s one move I always include in their program—the squat. Often known as the king of exercises, the squat is a compound move meaning it works multiple muscle groups at one. It targets some of the biggest muscles in the body: the quadriceps, glutes and hamstrings, as well as the core, calves, adductors (inner thighs) and hip flexors. It’s a great future-proofing exercise because it mimics everyday movements like sitting down and standing up again, so it builds real-world, functional strength. You may like Squats are also easy to adapt and progress. You can start with your bodyweight, then gradually add weight as you get stronger. You can also elevate your heels on a yoga block, shifting the emphasis to the quads, allowing you to achieve greater depth.
