Hyundai has started taking pre-sale orderss for its upcoming Ioniq V, but if you’re reading this from anywhere that speaks English, you can’t have it… yet? The Ioniq V debuted as just four months ago at the Beijing Auto Show (just weeks after its concept reveal), with a shockingly angular design, looking like a low-polygon version of the new Toyota Prius. It’s the beginning salvo in Hyundai’s 20-model planned entry into the crowded Chinese EV market, and the rest of the vehicles are expected to use similar design language. Now Hyundai is back with the Ioniq V at the Chengdu Auto Show, which runs for the next week, and it’s started taking orders today. KUCHING: Sarawak authorities have ordered a two-day closure of 591 schools across 10 districts as haze conditions worsen in the East Malaysian state. The closure, which took effect on Thursday (Aug 20), affects primary and secondary schools in Kuching, Padawan, Bau, Lundu, Samarahan, Simunjan, Serian, Sri Aman, Lubok Antu and Betong, the Sarawak Education Department said in a statement on Facebook.  “The decision is a precautionary measure to protect the safety, health and welfare of students, particularly from the risk of exposure to unhealthy air,” said the Sarawak Education department.  A total of 197,323 students are affected, the department said – 107,590 students from 509 primary schools and 89,733 students from 82 secondary schools. Home-based teaching and learning will be implemented during the closure to ensure that the students’ learning remains uninterrupted, it added.  Further developments regarding the closure period and reopening of schools will be announced through official channels and respective district education offices, the department said.  It marks the second time this month that schools in Sarawak have been ordered to close due to the …

A Washington judge has imposed new limits on Kalshi, giving the prediction market operator firm deadlines to stop people in the state from buying contracts linked to sports, elections, politics and other topics. King County Superior Court Judge John McHale signed the amended preliminary injunction on August 12. Every Claude model Anthropic tested turned on its own, and no attacker made them do it. Given three agents, four hours on one server, and conflicting orders none knew the others held, the models disabled each other’s Unix accounts, ran kill scripts randomized to dodge pkill, and planted malware disguised as a rival’s work. There was no prompt injection and no adversary. Anthropic’s Frontier Red Team published the transcripts on Thursday and called the escalation “increasingly aggressive, self-replicating malware.” The setup was ordinary by design. Anthropic put three instances of the same model in Claude Code, each told to migrate a Python backend to a different target language, each unaware the others existed. Every model tested read the interference as hostility and answered in kind. Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) on Wednesday gave Discord three business days to suspend its “Go Live” feature and other similar video-sharing tools. Discord itself will not be blocked, but those features won’t be available to users until the company can show it has put adequate safeguards in place for minors, said the agency in a statement.
