Mercedes is taking orders for its new eArocs 400 vocational truck

First shown at last year’s Bauma construction expo, the all-new Mercedes-Benz eActros promised great range, awesome performance, and massive payload capacities from its new, HD vocational electric semi truck. Now, the company is ready to take orders. Offered in 37 and 44 tonne-rated versions in a high-traction 8×4/4 axle configuration with four wheelbase options, the all-new Mercedes-Benz eArocs 400 offers engineering and construction firms serious battery-powered performance in both on- and off-highway scenarios, making an ideal platform for heavy haul, recovery, dump bed, and concrete mixing applications. That’s the sort of capability that’s exceedingly rare in the electric heavy truck market – with only the 3-axle Kenworth T880E coming to mind as competition (and that’s on the wrong side of the pond to trouble Mercedes much). “With the new battery-electric eArocs 400, we are enabling locally CO2-free operation even in demanding construction environments,” explains Stina Fagerman, head of Marketing, Sales and Services at Mercedes-Benz Trucks. “The vehicle combines the robustness required with an efficient electric drive system, covering key use cases in near-road construction. Starbucks partners with ChatGPT, allowing AI to suggest drinks and arrange orders

Starbucks is fully embracing AI, launching a beta app in ChatGPT this week that lets a chatbot choose your latte or refresher. Users on ChatGPT can access the app by starting a prompt with “@Starbucks.” They can then describe the mood they’re in or want to be in — energetic, cozy, etc. — or simply ask the AI to pick something that matches their tastes, like non-dairy drinks or less caffeinated beverages. In the announcement on Starbucks’ website, the coffee chain also suggested users upload a photo to ChatGPT that “captures your vibe,” and the AI will choose a drink to complement it. Mashable Trend Report Credit: Starbucks Some of the prompts suggested by Starbucks include “@Starbucks, I want something bright to start my morning,” and “@Starbucks, I’m craving an afternoon boost that isn’t too sweet.” After choosing a drink and a store to retrieve it, users will be directed to the Starbucks app or Starbucks.com to pay and complete the order. Tunisian Judge Orders Detention of Former Head of Anti-Corruption Body

Tunisian Judge Orders Detention of Former Head of Anti-Corruption Body

TUNIS, April 14 (Reuters) – A Tunisian judge ordered the detention of former anti-corruption chief Chawki Tabib on Tuesday, in the latest incident in what critics describe as an escalating crackdown on high-profile figures in the country. A judicial ‌official said the case against Tabib, ‌who is also a former head of the Tunisian Bar Association, concerned financial and administrative mismanagement during his tenure heading the anti-corruption body, which was dissolved by President Kais Saied in 2021. Boubaker Ben Thabet, the current head of the Tunisian Bar Association, told Reuters that Tabib’s detention violated legal procedures and amounted to harassment. Saied dissolved the elected parliament in 2021 and began ruling by decree, a move the opposition called a coup. In 2022, he also dissolved the Supreme Judicial Council and sacked dozens of judges. He said the steps were legal and aimed at fighting corruption. Tabib said on Sunday, before his detention, that the new case was part of a campaign targeting him. He had previously been placed under a travel ban. His detention came a …

‘Blown to hell’: Trump orders Hormuz blockade after US-Iran peace talks end | US-Israel war on Iran News

President Donald Trump says the United States Navy will begin blockading the Strait of Hormuz “immediately” after peace talks between the US and Iran in Pakistan ended without an agreement. Trump, in a social media post on Sunday, accused Iran of “extortion” and said the US Navy would also hunt down and interdict ships in international waters that have paid Iran a toll to traverse the strait. He said US forces will also begin clearing mines that he says Iran placed in the strait. Recommended Stories list of 3 itemsend of list “So, there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed to, but the only point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not,” Trump said. “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.” Iran has essentially taken control over the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for the global energy market, since the US and Israel launched a war on …

“LOCKED AND LOADED”: Trump orders Hormuz blockade

After more than 20 hours of negotiations failed to produce a ceasefire agreement in the Iran War, the Trump administration moved to escalate its response, announcing plans to blockade the Strait of Hormuz. In announcing the move, Donald Trump framed the blockade as a direct response to failed talks, arguing that Iran had refused to abandon its nuclear ambitions and was using control of the strait as leverage. He said U.S. forces would interdict vessels and clear potential mines, while also signaling a readiness to escalate militarily if needed. Vice President J.D. Vance led roughly 21 hours of talks aimed at easing tensions involving Iran, but the discussions ended without a breakthrough. Key sticking points remained unresolved, leaving no clear path to de-escalation. Vice President JD Vance gives an update in Pakistan: “The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon.” pic.twitter.com/il4THN5DwV — The White House (@WhiteHouse) …

Apple Stops Accepting Orders for Some Mac Mini and Mac Studio Models

Apple Stops Accepting Orders for Some Mac Mini and Mac Studio Models

As noted by 9to5Mac, some Mac mini and Mac Studio configurations are now completely out of stock on Apple’s online store in the U.S. as of this writing. Mac mini configurations with an upgraded 32GB or 64GB of RAM and Mac Studio configurations with an upgraded 128GB or 256GB of RAM are listed as “currently unavailable” on the storefront, meaning they can no longer be ordered at all. Other configurations that remain available continue to face lengthy shipping delays, with estimated delivery timeframes ranging from one to three months. Last month, Apple entirely removed the Mac Studio’s 512GB of RAM option. While the shipping delays have prompted speculation that Apple may be preparing to update the Mac mini and Mac Studio with M5 chips, the delays are likely the result of a severe global memory chip shortage driven by surging demand from companies building AI servers that require large amounts of RAM. After all, the Mac mini and Mac Studio models that are “currently unavailable” are those configured with higher amounts of RAM. In addition, …

Tucker Carlson Urges U.S. Officials To Defy Trump On Iran Orders: “Say No, Absolutely Not”

Tucker Carlson Urges U.S. Officials To Defy Trump On Iran Orders: “Say No, Absolutely Not”

Tucker Carlson has publicly called on White House aides and Pentagon officials to refuse President Donald Trump’s orders if they involve mass attacks on Iranian civilians or the possible use of nuclear weapons, telling them to “say no, absolutely not” directly to the president and, if necessary, to “figure out the codes on the football yourself.” The remarks, made on his popular podcast, come amid the ongoing U.S.-Israel military campaign against Iran and have triggered an immediate backlash from the White House. Carlson framed the potential escalation as “evil” and a desecration of Christian and Islamic values, specifically criticising Trump’s recent social-media rhetoric urging the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and warning that “a whole civilization will die tonight.” Carlson argued that such actions would mark “the end of the American empire as we understand it” and run directly counter to the “America First” principles Trump campaigned on. Carlson’s comments come after the US and Israel’s aggressive bombing of Iran, which began with airstrikes earlier this year and has escalated into broader operations aimed …

BYD EV orders surge to ‘another level’ overseas from energy crisis

BYD expects soaring oil prices to drive overseas sales to “another level” as EV orders are already surging across several markets. BYD raises 2026 overseas sales goal as EV orders soar After it decided to stop making vehicles powered entirely by internal combustion engines in 2022, China’s BYD is reaping the benefits. Last year, BYD sold more vehicles than Ford for the first time, ranking sixth in global EV sales. Now, amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the Chinese EV giant has acknowledged that higher oil and gas prices will likely boost EV sales. BYD’s CEO Wang Chuanfu told analysts during a closed-door conference last week (via Nikkei) that the company expects soaring oil prices to drive overseas EV sales to “another level” in 2026.
