A quarter (25 percent) of those surveyed who backed the Labour Party in the 2024 general election said they will now back the Greens. A third (37 percent) said they would continue to support the governing party. The polling of 2,073 adults in Britain Sunday and Monday came just days after the Greens won the Greater Manchester constituency of Gorton and Denton from Labour. “The result is likely to have been driven to a significant extent by the publicity from the Denton & Gorton by-election,” said YouGov’s Anthony Wells. “That result may have had an impact in terms of making the Greens appear a more viable option and less of a wasted vote.” The study found that the Greens, whose membership numbers have surged since Zack Polanski became leader last September, are the most popular political party in all age categories under 50. According to the US Energy Storage Market Outlook Q1 2026 from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, installations are now four times higher than totals from just three years ago. The US had a total of 137 GWh of utility-scale storage installed as of 2025, plus 19 GWh of commercial and industrial systems and 9 GWh of residential storage. Analysts expect the growth streak to continue. More than 600 GWh of energy storage is projected to be deployed nationwide by 2030, even as the Trump administration targets clean energy industries. France recorded more deaths than births in 2025 for the first time since the end ​of World War II, a development that erodes its long-held demographic advantage ‍over other European Union nations, official figures showed on Tuesday. The national statistics institute INSEE reported 651,000 deaths ​last year and 645,000 births, which have collapsed in number since ​the global COVID pandemic. France has traditionally had stronger demographics than most of Europe, but an aging population and falling birthrates show it is not immune to the demographic crunch straining public finances across the continent. INSEE said the fertility rate dropped to 1.56 children per woman last year, its lowest level since World War I ‍and well below the 1.8 assumed in pension funding forecasts by the pension advisory council.
