AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas quarterback Arch Manning is doing light workouts so far in spring practice following offseason foot surgery. But he said Wednesday that his body is as strong as it’s been since he had what school officials said was a minor procedure in January. “I feel 100 percent right now. We’re kind of taking it slow, but if we had a game today I’d be playing,” Manning said. “Obviously when you’re not out there, you’re kind of antsy. It was hard the first few weeks just not being able to do anything. Now I get to do a little bit more.” Manning is coming off his first season as the Longhorns’ full-time starter. The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning passed for 3,163 yards and 26 touchdowns and ran for 10 TDs in 2025. Homeowners in 2025 paid a total of $396.8 billion in property taxes on more than 89.6 million single-family homes, a 3.7 percent increase from 2024, an April 9 report by real estate property data provider ATTOM states. The average single-family home paid $4,427 in taxes, up by 3 percent from 2024, driven by a higher effective tax rate, according to the report. The ATTOM report analyzed tax data collected from assessment offices, combined with estimated market values of single-family homes. The estimated home value of $494,231 for 2025 was down by 1.7 percent year-over-year, ATTOM noted, following a significant spike in 2024. Nationally, the effective tax rate on single-family residences in 2025 was 0.9 percent, up slightly from the prior year and the highest since 2020, when it stood at 1.1 percent, ATTOM’s researchers wrote. The Internal Revenue Service in Washington on March 10, 2025. Madalina Vasiliu/The Epoch Times “Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, a 1 percent remittance transfer tax applies to remittances sent from the United States to recipients in foreign countries when the sender provides cash, a money order, a cashier’s check, or other similar physical instrument to the remittance transfer provider,” the IRS said in an April 10 statement. “The sender is liable for the tax, and remittance transfer providers are required to collect the remittance transfer tax from certain senders, make semimonthly deposits, and file quarterly returns with the IRS. If the remittance transfer provider does not collect the tax from the sender, the tax becomes a liability of the remittance transfer provider.” The proposed regulations clarify how the remittance transfer tax would be applied. The poll, which surveyed 2,000 US adults, found that about half of all respondents used AI in the past week for either personal or work reasons. Among full-time workers, 20 percent said the tech had taken over tasks they used to do themselves, while 15 percent reported AI has created new on-the-job chores they wouldn’t have taken on otherwise. Motorola is usually a pretty dependable manufacturer of affordable budget phones in the U.S., but that’s changing a bit this year. As noted by Ars Technica, several 2026 revisions of Motorola’s usual low-priced lineup have gotten significant price hikes. Take the Moto G, Moto G Play, and Moto G Power phones, for example. All three have risen in price by anywhere from 33 to 50 percent year-over-year in 2026. The Moto G Play used to be $180, but now it’s $250. On top of that, the slightly higher-end 2026 Moto G Stylus just made its debut at $500, a $100 price increase from last year.
