Helen Goh’s recipe for gooseberry and almond pies | Pie

Gooseberries require a little patience. Firm, pale and stubbornly sour, they don’t offer the easy sweetness of other berries, but give them something warm and soft to lean against, and watch them shine. Almond cream feels a natural companion: gently sweet and tender, cushioning the sharpness without dulling it. Baked in muffin tins, these small pies feel informal yet generous, plus all the components can be made up to three days ahead and assembled just before baking. American Pie bombshell Shannon Elizabeth, 52, sparks fan frenzy with sizzling swimsuit video

American Pie actress Shannon Elizabeth proved that she was aging backwards when she slipped into a swimsuit during a lavish vacation in Mauritius, just weeks after declaring her intent to start an OnlyFans account. The 52-year-old looked incredible as she showcased her lithe figure in a plunging brown one-piece swimsuit with a rope halter neck, while walking on the beach with her brunette locks flowing down her back. As Shannon detailed her recent vacation to her fans in the social media video, she also donned a black V-neck swimsuit while lounging on a deckchair by the pool.  “Mauritius just raised the bar! A day at Shangri-La Le Touessrok,” she wrote in the caption. “Pristine white sand beaches, a private island you reach by boat, and the most dreamy beachside lunch at Coco’s Beach House. This place is something else.”  Shannon’s fans rushed to the comment section to exclaim over her stunning look, with one writing: “How do you not age? What’s your secret?!” while another added: “You’re so gorgeous.” “Timeless beauty,” said another, while a fourth chimed in: “You haven’t aged …

I Made One Simple Change to Marry Berry’s Banoffee Pie — It Was Perfect

I Made One Simple Change to Marry Berry’s Banoffee Pie — It Was Perfect

I’ve been on a bit of a chocolate dessert kick recently. I’ve tried Nigella Lawson’s Nutella cheesecake and her “old-fashioned” chocolate cake recipes, for instance (I recommend both). But last weekend, I had a hankering for something a little more… retro. Something piled high with cream and covered in chocolate. Something a little like Mary Berry’s banoffee pie recipe from Classic By Mary Berry. The iconic ’70s dessert is surprisingly simple to make, relying on a no-bake biscuit base, a three-ingredient quick caramel, bananas, whipped cream and dark chocolate topping. It was the best I’d ever tried – but only after a key change to its topping. Digestives in a bowl on the left, and lined ton on the right The prep takes about 20 minutes Mary’s instructions began with a tin-lining trick I’m going to use for every no-bake cheesecake or cream cake from now on: place a sheet of clingfilm up the sides of a springform tin, then cut a circle of baking paper for the base. Then, she asked us to put …

Why ‘American Pie’ Star Shannon Elizabeth Joined OnlyFans

Why ‘American Pie’ Star Shannon Elizabeth Joined OnlyFans

Shannon Elizabeth is taking back control of her story. The actress, who became a prominent sex symbol of the 1990s and 2000s with her roles in American Pie and Scary Movie, among others, recently told People that she’s launching an OnlyFans account to reclaim control of her narrative after working in Hollywood. “I’ve spent my entire career working in Hollywood, where other people controlled the narrative and the outcome of my career. This new chapter is about changing that, showing off a more sexy side no one has seen, and being closer to my fans,” Elizabeth said of her reasoning for joining the platform primarily known for adult content. She added, “I’m choosing OnlyFans because it allows me to connect directly with my audience, create on my own terms, and just be free. I really do think this is the future.” Though Elizabeth didn’t feel in control of her career when she was younger, she previously told Entertainment Tonight that she’s still grateful for all the doors that American Pie opened for her. However, starring …

Everybody’s looking down at their phones, or they’re on their phones. The crosswalk changes, and everybody just starts rushing each way. Nobody’s paying attention except to whatever is in their hand at that moment.” She recalled, “I just had this feeling come over me of feeling like I had just been to Africa, and the problems there felt …

Fish pie with leeks and celeriac cheddar mash

Fish pie with leeks and celeriac cheddar mash

Celeriac doesn’t normally fall into my top five vegetables, but it works brilliantly as a mash, and with buttery leeks and fish completes a fantastically tasty trio. Any leftover mash mixed with extra cheddar or feta and the Syrian-style spice mix makes for a delicious sort of potato cake/fritter! I like the eggs in this, but if you’d rather not include them, up the quantities of fish from 250g to 300g.   Source link

Budapest Pizzeria Offers Time-Travel Twist With Ancient Rome-Inspired Pie

Budapest Pizzeria Offers Time-Travel Twist With Ancient Rome-Inspired Pie

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — In Hungary’s capital, a city best known for its goulash, a pizzeria is inviting diners to travel back two millennia to a time before tomatoes, mozzarella or even the word “pizza” were known in Europe. At Neverland Pizzeria in central Budapest, founder Josep Zara and his team have created a limited-edition pie using only ingredients that would have been available in ancient Rome, long before what we know today as pizza ever existed. “Curiosity drove us to ask what pizza might have been like long ago,” Zara said. “We went all the way back to the Roman Empire and wondered whether they even ate pizza at the time.” Strictly speaking, they did not. Tomatoes arrived in Europe centuries later from the Americas, and mozzarella was as yet unknown. Some histories have it that the discovery of mozzarella led directly to the invention of pizza in Naples in the 1700s. But Romans did eat oven-baked flatbreads topped with herbs, cheeses and sauces, the direct ancestors of modern pizza, which were often sold …
