Initial reports suggest the aircraft was backing up on the runway when the signaller tripped and was hit by the plane, according to local police. One woman claimed the man, who hasn’t been identified, went under the plane while it was moving in front of “screaming” passengers. Recalling the horror incident one passenger told Radio Canada the moment she saw a man go under the plane while it was moving. She reported panicked scenes on board, adding: “Many were screaming.” Emergency raced to the airport at approximately 7.30pm. The victim was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead. Yves Beauchamp, President and Chief Executive Officer of Montréal Airport said: “The loss of a member of our airport community affects us all deeply. “During this difficult time, our thoughts are with the employee’s family, loved ones and colleagues, to whom we extend our heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences.” Montreal police said the investigation has been handed over to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
