Polish Leader Tusk Claims Russia-Linked Crypto Firm Backed Nawrocki’s Presidential Bid

Polish Leader Tusk Claims Russia-Linked Crypto Firm Backed Nawrocki’s Presidential Bid

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said a cryptocurrency firm built with “Russian money” had sponsored Polish politicians from the former national-conservative government as well as a CPAC ( Conservative Political Action Conference ) event in Poland last year, where Kristi Noem, the former U.S. Homeland Security Secretary, openly backed nationalist Karol Nawrocki to win the Polish presidency. Tusk was speaking on Friday in the Polish parliament, before a parliamentary vote to overrule Nawrocki who had rejected regulations of the Polish crypto-asset market. Nawrocki has vetoed two separate attempts by the liberal government to regulate this market in the past six months. Tusk claimed that the blocking of regulations by some Polish politicians indicated they were serving the interests of a specific company, Zondacrypto, which had in the past provided them with financial support and which had links with Russia. “The source of this company’s financial success is not only Russian money linked to the so-called Bratva, one of the most important mafia groups in Russia, but also to Russian secret services,” …

After Orbán Loss, Polish MEP Warns EU Set To “Subjugate Everything And Everyone” As VDL Moves Quickly To Abolish Veto Power

Via Remix News, On the back of Péter Magyar’s victory in Hungary, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the EU needs to work on getting rid of member states’ veto powers. For many who backed Viktor Orbán, one of their greatest fears was exactly what von der Leyen is now advancing: an unconstrained EU able to take action on foreign policy, health, and migration without the threat of a veto. It is widely assumed that the incoming prime minister of Hungary will seek a fast resolution of Brussels’ key issues with Hungary in order to unlock some €35 billion in funding. While Magyar is still seen as right of center and has already insisted border protection will remain a top priority, he has also made it clear that he will work to build a more constructive relationship with Brussels and make Hungary more a part of the European community. One way Viktor Orbán previously served as a constant thorn in the side of other member states was via use of the veto power, …

As War Rages In Iran, UK MoD Surveys Troops On Wearing Makeup And Nail Polish

Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news, While flames engulf Iranian oil depots following U.S. and Israeli strikes, and Iran retaliates with missiles targeting the UAE and Israel, the UK Ministry of Defence has sparked backlash by circulating a survey to troops about relaxing appearance standards. The questionnaire asks if male soldiers should be allowed to wear makeup, nail polish, and longer hair, ridiculously framing it as a push toward “gender-free” policies. The timing of this clownish behaviour couldn’t be worse. The survey, originating from Army HQ in Andover, proposes uniform rules on hair, jewelry, and even facial aesthetics like fillers and microblading for all genders. As war rages in Iran, woke MoD asks troops: ‘Guys, do you want to wear make-up and nail polish?’ https://t.co/VncN09Cn5b — Daily Mail (@DailyMail) March 8, 2026 The review builds on recent shifts in UK military policies. In 2024, the Army reversed a long-standing ban on beards. Back in 2019, then-Defence Secretary Ben Wallace floated allowing men to use camouflage-colored makeup. And in 2017, instructions emphasized avoiding gender-specific language like “best man for …

Battle between Polish president and prime minister deepens over EU defense loans – POLITICO

However, Nawrocki could also go for broke and try to block the SAFE loan by pushing his domestic alternative, wrote political scientist Marek Migalski. “The president’s initiative on ‘Polish SAFE’ is politically astute. It justifies the veto and gives his supporters an argument against the government, which not only wants to burden us with debt, but also wants to do so through the evil and deceitful EU,” he wrote on social media. Glapiński said Thursday he intends to propose “measures” that would not cut the country’s foreign currency reserves while securing “tens of billions of złoty” each year for the state-run Armed Forces Support Fund, a vehicle to finance military modernization. Glapiński is hemmed in by legal restrictions limiting the central bank’s ability to finance the budget, but his messaging suggests the NBP is readying a large-scale gold selloff. With 550 tons of gold stored in domestic and foreign vaults, the NBP is one of Europe’s top gold hoarders. “[The NBP] signals a sell–buyback operation involving the central bank’s gold reserves. Although it would formally comply with central …

More polish, less panto: brands push ‘real clothes’ at London fashion week | London fashion week

More polish, less panto: brands push ‘real clothes’ at London fashion week | London fashion week

“London fashion has leant too much into being theatrical. Drama is great, but style is a huge piece of why we buy fashion,” said Mario Arena, the creative director of Joseph, at its first catwalk show in eight years. Arena has a subversive idea to re-energise London fashion week. More polish, less pantomime: clothes that sell, rather than clothes that scream. “Buyers will say they come to London for innovation, and they go to Italy and France for style. But London used to be a style capital, and it should be again,” Arena said on Friday. He is the Australian-born creative director of the brand founded by the late Joseph Ettedgui, which was beloved in the 1980s and 1990s for flattering black trousers, chic leather and knit, and the see-and-be-seen in-store restaurant, Joe’s Cafe. “Women want clothes that work what we call the three Ds: desk, dinner, walking the dog when they get home,” he added. “Totally agree,” said Laura Weir, the chief executive of the British Fashion Council. “London fashion week has been at …

macOS Tahoe Finder Bug Underscores Apple’s Slipping UI Polish

macOS Tahoe Finder Bug Underscores Apple’s Slipping UI Polish

Apple released macOS Tahoe last September, but despite two point updates since then, it is still struggling to resolve an embarrassing interface issue in Finder that appears to have been introduced with its Liquid Glass redesign. If you updated your Mac to macOS Tahoe and you prefer to work in Finder’s column view, there’s a good chance you’ve been frustrated by the glitch, which developer Jeff Johnson has been admirably tracking over on his blog. Scroll bar blocking column resize handles (Original image: Jeff Johnson) At the bottom of each Finder column are handy little resize handles allowing you to expand or reduce each column as you see fit. But in macOS 26 and macOS 26.2, when scroll bars are set to “always show,” the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom overlaps and covers those handles, so you can’t click them to adjust column widths the way you could in earlier macOS versions like Sequoia. Scroll bar occluding column content (Original image: Jeff Johnson) With the recent release of macOS 26.3, Apple attempted a fix. …

Two Polish Airports Reopen After NATO Jets Activated Over Russian Strikes on Ukraine

WARSAW, Feb 7 (Reuters) – Poland’s Lublin ‌and Rzeszow airports reopened on ‌Saturday after authorities said they had ended military aviation operations including flights by NATO aircraft in the country’s airspace, triggered by Russian strikes ‍on Ukraine. There was no violation of Polish airspace, the Polish army’s operational command said. In a post on social media platform X, it thanked NATO and the German air force, “whose aircraft helped ensure safety in Polish skies today”. “Operations of military aviation in our airspace, related to strikes by the Russian Federation on Ukraine, have been ‌concluded,” the operational command said. “Ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have returned ‌to standard operational activities,” ‍it added. Ukraine said on Saturday that Russia had launched a massive air attack on Ukrainian energy facilities overnight, including hits on power stations in western Ukraine. The Polish military operation was of a preventive nature and aimed at securing and protecting airspace in areas adjacent to threatened regions, Poland’s army said earlier in the day. The two airports, both in southeastern Poland, had …

Epstein was ‘probably a Russian spy’, Polish PM says – ‘He has compromising material’ | World | News

Jeffrey Epstein was “likely a Russian spy” and is also likely to have “compromising material against many leaders still active today”, Polish leader Donald Tusk has said. Poland will open an investigation into potential ties between the late sex offender and Russian intelligence, and examine any implications for Poland, Mr Tusk announced earlier today, February 3.  Tusk made the explosive announcement at a government meeting. He said: “More and more leads, more and more information, and more and more commentary in the global press all relate to the suspicion that this unprecedented paedophilia scandal was co-organised by Russian intelligence services. “I don’t need to tell you how serious the increasingly likely possibility that Russian intelligence services co-organised this operation is for the security of the Polish state. “This can only mean that they also possess compromising materials against many leaders still active today.” The US Department of Justice released millions of file related to Epstein, who was found dead in his New York prison cell in 2019, on Friday. Of the millions of documents released, …

Small Drone Fell on Polish Army Base, Military Police Say

WARSAW, Feb 2 (Reuters) – A ‌small toy-like drone ‌of unknown origin fell onto a military base in Przasnysz, north-central Poland ‍on January 28, military police said on Monday, confirming a report from Radio Zet. Authorities across Europe have been on high alert for drones after a spate of incidents that ‌have disrupted operations at airports or military facilities. Military ‌police spokesperson Tomasz ‍Wiktorowicz said security officers had observed the drone flying over the base and that it then fell onto the premises. “The toy-like device was secured… It was later handed over to the military police, and an investigation is currently underway,” he said. He added that it was an unsophisticated device that was possibly controlled using a mobile phone and had lost contact with its operator. “No recording devices, such as a memory card or SIM card, that could transmit data were found in the device,” he said.
