Invasive carp have wreaked havoc on the ecosystem for over a century, but officials have hit a milestone worth celebrating in the fight against these mega fish.  In the past 15 years, wildlife officials have removed 50 million pounds of invasive carp from the Illinois River. That’s equivalent to roughly 5,000 elephants. The removal is part of a broader and coordinated effort to protect the rivers and lakes from this non native species. Why are carp a problem? I have ended up hundreds of pounds out of pocket after paying £66 for a week’s parking at Stansted airport. I booked through the website compareairportparkings.co.uk for our car to be collected at the short-stay car park, parked off-site while we were away, and then returned to us at the short stay. On our arrival back in the UK, we were kept waiting for four hours before being told our car was ready for collection. It had evidently been in an accident, and I’ve since been quoted £4,000 for repairs to the smashed front. The short-stay car park had no record of the car ever having left, so I had a £477 parking ticket to pay on exit. Stansted staff reduced this to £250 when I explained. I later received a £100 charge notice from Stansted for breach of parking conditions. Compareairportparkings has refunded me the £66 booking fee and told me to take up the case with the operator, which is not responding to calls or emails. The police have said that it is …

Average annual energy bills will rise by £332 in July, more than double the previously anticipated increase, due to high oil and gas prices driven by the war in Iran, trusted forecasters predicted. But as the oil and gas prices spiked and remained about $110 per barrel of benchmark Brent crude oil and above 120 pence per therm of UK wholesale gas, it’s pushed up the amount suppliers can charge. What’s the energy price cap? Higher wholesale costs drive up the price cap, which sets a limit on how much suppliers can charge per unit of gas and electricity.
