Pratt, 42, finished third in the June 2 primary race, according to Monday polling data from the Associated Press. He broke his social media silence Tuesday by posting a cryptic photo of a lone duck sailing across a body of water at sunset. He then posted a brief message Thursday to X, seemingly aimed at his supporters: “Are they done counting yet?” Technically, votes are still being counted in California. While more data is expected to release Thursday, the results are not expected to drastically alter the tally, which currently has incumbent Mayor Karen Bass leading, followed by progressive city council member Nithya Raman. The last tally from Tuesday had Pratt solidly in third place with 216,783 votes, or 25.52 percent of the …

Nithya Raman Defeats Spencer Pratt, Will Advance to Runoff Vs. Bass

Nithya Raman Defeats Spencer Pratt, Will Advance to Runoff Vs. Bass

Spencer Pratt, who for a brief dizzying moment went from reality-show afterthought to the potential next mayor of Los Angeles, is back to being the person from that reality show. The Associated Press late Monday afternoon officially called second place for his progressive rival Nithya Raman, after six days of the City Council member steadily gaining ground as more and more ballots were counted. A new batch of votes Monday took Raman’s lead from 3,000 when the day started to more than 21,000 at its close. With just 8 percent, or 65,0000, of ballots outstanding, Raman’s lead was deemed insurmountable, and the AP called it. Raman will now face incumbent mayor Karen Bass in a November runoff in a battle between two onetime Democratic allies who will argue over whether the city needs a steady moderate hand or a new progressive one to combat the many issues facing it. Raman posted to X and Instagram several hours after the election was called, saying she was “incredibly honored that voters have given us the opportunity to …

Nithya Raman advances over Spencer Pratt to face L.A. Mayor Karen Bass in a runoff

Nithya Raman advances over Spencer Pratt to face L.A. Mayor Karen Bass in a runoff

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will face City Council member Nithya Raman in a runoff election for Bass’ job in November, NBC News projects, teeing up a one-on-one matchup between two Democrats. Subscribe to read this story ad-free Get unlimited access to ad-free articles and exclusive content. Bass and Raman, who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, emerged from a crowded all-party primary field that included former reality TV star Spencer Pratt, a registered Republican who ran an insurgent campaign focused on criticizing Bass for her response to the Los Angeles wildfires last year. See election results here. Since no candidate earned more than 50% of the vote, the top two finishers go to a runoff this fall. NBC News previously projected Bass would advance to the general election. While Pratt was in second place behind Bass on election night, the successive vote tallies have been more Democratic-leaning, allowing Raman to surpass Pratt. It’s part of a pattern all over California in this primary, with late-counted votes leaning more Democratic after a …

Right-wing media melts down as Spencer Pratt sinks in vote count

Right-wing media melts down as Spencer Pratt sinks in vote count

Spencer Pratt was never going to be the mayor of Los Angeles. That is not necessarily a humiliation for the longtime reality TV star. But now his unconventional campaign, forged in the aftermath of losing his Pacific Palisades home in the January 2025 fires, is quickly giving way to a predictable right-wing meltdown over California’s elections. Almost immediately after the polls closed on June 2, prominent conservative media personalities began aggressively promoting completely deluded claims that Democrats were actively stealing the election. On Fox News, host Laura Ingraham suggested California might have “the most corrupt voting system in the Western world.” Will Cain floated the idea that votes could be “manufactured” during the counting process. Sean Hannity amplified Donald Trump’s baseless claim that Democrats were “probably cheating” in California. Podcaster Benny Johnson claimed that “you can already see that they’re stealing and they’re cheating.” Right-wing provocateur Chris Rufo baselessly claimed that “the Dem machine has rigged election law in its favor.” Right-leaning polling firm Rasmussen claimed Pratt received zero votes in a ballot drop — …

L.A. divided: Bass, Pratt and Raman dominated in different parts of the city

L.A. divided: Bass, Pratt and Raman dominated in different parts of the city

Mayor Karen Bass ran the table in South Los Angeles, Spencer Pratt found strong support from his Westside base, and Nithya Raman racked up votes in Echo Park and other neighborhoods with a concentration of renters, according to a Times analysis of partial precinct-level results from this week’s primary election. The Times analysis, based on an estimated 62% of the ballots counted so far, found that Pratt was favored in many of the same neighborhoods that voted for mayoral candidate Rick Caruso in 2022, while Raman made inroads in progressive areas dominated by Bass four years ago. Bass found support in neighborhoods along much of the Harbor and Santa Monica freeway corridors, along with central San Fernando Valley communities from Van Nuys to Arleta. With much of the vote left to be counted, a map prepared by The Times showing how neighborhoods voted represents a snapshot of an election still very much underway. Bass garnered enough votes on election night to qualify for a Nov. 3 runoff, the Associated Press determined, but votes are still …

What Is It About Spencer Pratt and Crystals?

What Is It About Spencer Pratt and Crystals?

Crystals are objectively beautiful. They come in just about any color you could want, reflecting light or dispersing it in ways that feel unfair to an average rock. Scientists recently published evidence that even chimpanzees, given the choice between a quartz crystal and a plain stone, will choose the crystal every time. Our ancestors were collecting them 780,000 years ago for no practical reason whatsoever. We never really stopped. Los Angeles is the center of American crystal culture. It’s as common as owning a cactus, or having a therapist. The wellness-pilled and the aesthetically-minded alike keep a few on windowsills, on nightstands, around their neck. Charging your rose quartz by the light of the full moon is on par with vacuuming your floors. This is just what people do here. So it tracks that Spencer Pratt—former reality TV villain, current mayoral candidate, and a native Angeleno—would be into crystals. “Into” crystals, however, does not quite capture the situation. A recent NBC News interview has reintroduced many people to The former Hills personality’s interest in crystals, …

Spencer Pratt, Steve Hilton Doing Very Well in California Primary

Spencer Pratt, Steve Hilton Doing Very Well in California Primary

The star of a long-running reality show is looking poised for a fresh episode in the Los Angeles mayoral race. With about half the votes counted, The Hills star-turned-political gadfly Spencer Pratt sat comfortably in second place with 30% of the vote, ahead of his third-place rival, progressive City Council member Nithya Raman, by nine points. If the totals were to hold — and a lot of ballots still need to be counted — it would set up a made-for-vintage-MTV showdown between Pratt and incumbent Karen Bass, who sits in first place with 37%. The general election battle between the two would be one of the fiercest and most colorful the city has seen in decades. Pratt has repeatedly gone after Bass in the primary campaign, reposting videos of her depicted as The Joker and deriding her response to the wildfires, homelessness and the city’s housing crisis. After previously ignoring hm, Bass has recently gone after Pratt too, calling him a “TV reality star villain.” Pratt has received the seal of approval of another reality star-turned-politician, Donald …

Bass, Raman or Pratt? Three L.A. residents explain who got their vote for mayor

Bass, Raman or Pratt? Three L.A. residents explain who got their vote for mayor

As the voters deliver their ballots to neighborhood drop-off sites and others wait to vote in person Tuesday, Times reporters fanned out across the city to ask residents whom they planned to support for mayor. Here is a sample of what voters said about their preferred candidate. ‘The other choices were not worth my vote’ Steven Travers57Glassell ParkSelf-employed Voter Steven Travers told The Times that he didn’t feel like there were many options for him in the mayoral election this year, except for the incumbent Karen Bass. Shopping at Vons in Echo Park, Travers said, “Just what I’ve seen of her, and you know, the way she speaks, she seems to be OK.” “I guess she’s done an OK job since she’s been the mayor,” Travers said. “The people she’s running against, I mean, there’s really nobody else that I think I would want to be in that position.” This decision to vote for Bass, despite the wide field of options, came down to how she had handled homelessness in the city and Travers’ neighborhood …

L.A.’s Choice: More Dysfunction Or Spencer Pratt?

L.A.’s Choice: More Dysfunction Or Spencer Pratt?

Authored by Victoria Taft via PJ Media, Spencer Pratt has a “shot” to win the Los Angeles mayor’s race, according to the latest polling. The first thing Angelenos need to begin the biggest turnaround in L.A. history, however, is to admit the city has a problem: self-imposed dysfunction. Then they need to vote for someone who didn’t relish in causing it. The choice going into Tuesday’s top two primary election is really that simple. As we go into the final day of voting in the Los Angeles mayoral race, there are three candidates leading the pack: the worst and most destructive mayor of all time, Karen Bass, Bass’s radical, ideological twin and stalking horse, Nithya Raman, and Spencer Pratt. Bass and Raman have been accused of teaming up to flood the zone with commies to game California’s top-two primary system. The top-two system is the Democrat protection act in real time. For normies, to the extent L.A. has them, Pratt is their only hope in this race. Voters, some of whose ballots were burned up …
