Aubrey Plaza, Christopher Abbott at 2026 Tony Awards Show Off Pregnancy

The 2026 Tony Awards will be one to remember for Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott. Walking the red carpet prior to the ceremony, Plaza and Abbott posed for photos at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The couple was all smiles, wearing matching black-and-white looks, with Plaza showing off her baby bump. Sunday’s appearance marked their first red carpet arrival since People exclusively reported in April that the pair were expecting their first child. Plaza supported Abbott as he was nominated for best actor in a featured role in a play for Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. Unfortunately, Abbott lost the award to Alden Ehrenreich (Becky Shaw). The Tony nomination was Abbott’s first, and his other fellow nominees included Danny Burstein (Marjorie Prime), Brandon J. Dirden (Waiting for Godot), Ruben Santiago-Hudson (August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone) and Richard Thomas (The Balusters). His co-star, Laurie Metcalf, won for best actress. While it’s unclear when The White Lotus actress and Girls star began dating, the pair previously worked together, co-starring in the 2020 …

Wearable Ultrasound Patch Monitors High-Risk Pregnancies In Real Time

Wearable Ultrasound Patch Monitors High-Risk Pregnancies In Real Time

By Dennis Thompson HealthDay ReporterTHURSDAY, May 28, 2026 (HealthDay News) — A new ultrasound patch can help save high-risk pregnancies, by continuously monitoring blood flow through the fetus and umbilical cord, according to a new study. The flexible patch adheres to the abdomen and feeds ultrasound data to a computer through an attached cable, researchers said. Tests on 62 pregnant women showed that the patch works at least as well as standard ultrasound devices, researchers reported May 26 in the journal Nature Biotechnology. In at least one instance, the experimental device helped save a pregnancy. “She was 28 weeks along in her pregnancy — still pretty early on — and an initial examination showed a normal fetal heart rate. Then I saw that the flow signal was quite abnormal,” study co-author Geonho (Tom) Park said in a news release. Park is a postdoctoral scholar in anesthesiology, perioperative and pain medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine in California. The ultrasound data showed large fluctuations in blood flow through the umbilical cord, a sign of potential …

Embryos made without sperm or eggs reveal why many pregnancies fail

Embryos made without sperm or eggs reveal why many pregnancies fail

Embryo models closely resemble early human embryos SCIEPRO/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/Alamy Inside a lab in Vienna, cells are dividing to form a hollow sphere. Although the fragile ball has all the characteristics of an early human embryo, it isn’t quite what it seems. It didn’t, in fact, begin with an egg meeting a sperm. Instead, it was created entirely in the lab. The very first days of pregnancy have long been an enigma. Scientists are unable to peer inside the uterus during pregnancy, meaning we know little about why so many fail. This is now beginning to change, thanks to embryo models created from stem cells, which are lifting the lid on one of the great mysteries of human biology. In the five years since early human embryo models known as blastoids were first created in several labs – including the one in Vienna – researchers have dramatically advanced our understanding of the early days of life. This is already leading to improvements for in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and treatments for serious conditions that occur during …

Iona Gruffdd’s wife Bianca Wallace reveals pregnancy offered ‘respite’ from MS battle

Bianca Wallace knows that her husband Ioan Gruffudd has attracted a devoted following but there was one person at his recent appearance at a fan convention who could not contain her admiration. So vocal was Mila Gruffud, their seven-month-old daughter, at the sight of her father that Bianca had to rush out of the auditorium. “Ioan went to a [comic] convention in Chicago recently,” Bianca tells HELLO! in an exclusive interview. “He did a talk with Michael Chiklis, who was also in [the superhero film] The Fantastic Four, and I had her in the carrier with me. Every time he came on screen, she would start talking to him. ‘Wah, wah, wah.’ I had to take her away because she was squealing with excitement to see Daddy. It was such a joy to witness that.” Mila has been a life-changer for Bianca, not only for making her a mother for the first time but for her health. The actress, 33, has an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune condition in which a person’s …

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘silly superstition’ with pregnancy that ‘horrified’ King Charles’ staff

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘silly superstition’ with pregnancy that ‘horrified’ King Charles’ staff

Just five months after their royal wedding in May 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex delighted fans with the news they were expecting their first child. Behind the scenes, their pregnancy had been filled with little “superstitions” that they believed helped bring them luck, which Prince Harry let slip in his autobiography, Spare.  “We didn’t want to wait. We both wanted to start a family straightaway,” Harry recalled, adding that becoming parents had “always been our main priority.” At the end of summer 2018, the couple spent time with King Charles at the Castle of Mey in Scotland, where the now-monarch regaled tales of the “selkies” who grant wishes. “‘Scottish mermaids,’ he said. ‘They took the form of seals and cruised along the shore outside the castle, within a stone’s throw of where we were sitting. So, when you see a seal,’ he advised, ‘you never can tell… Sing to it. They often sing back,’” he said, initially dismissing it as a “fairytale” before they tried it out for themselves. After spotting seals in …

Antidepressants in pregnancy do not raise children’s risk of autism or ADHD, study finds | Pregnancy

Antidepressants in pregnancy do not raise children’s risk of autism or ADHD, study finds | Pregnancy

Taking antidepressants during pregnancy does not increase the risk of children going on to develop autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), according to an analysis of more than half a million pregnancies. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Hong Kong and published in the Lancet Psychiatry, analysed data from 37 existing studies that included 600,000 pregnant women who had taken antidepressants, and 25 million women who had no antidepressant use during their pregnancies. Before controlling for key factors such as pre-existing mental health conditions, the analysis found that antidepressant use by the mother during pregnancy was associated with a 35% increased risk of ADHD and a 69% increased risk of autism. However, when controlling for confounding factors such as pre-existing mental health conditions, this risk became non-significant. This means the meta-analysis found no significant link between antidepressant use during pregnancy and a greater risk of autism and ADHD in children, after controlling for the mother’s mental health or other influencing factors such as genetics. Dr Wing-Chung Chang, a professor at the …

Pregnancy diet shapes children’s vegetable preferences new research reveals

Get the Well Enough newsletter with Harry Bullmore for tips on living a healthier, happier and longer life Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore Young children are more likely to react positively to the scent of vegetables if they were regularly exposed to them while still in the womb, new research has revealed. A long-running study meticulously recorded and analysed the reactions of three-year-olds to the smells of carrots and leafy kale, investigating how prenatal exposure might shape their later preferences. Experts followed up on two earlier studies involving foetuses and newborns whose mothers had consumed carrot or kale capsules during the later stages of pregnancy. The research, spearheaded by Durham University, found that three-year-olds whose mothers had taken carrot powder capsules during pregnancy displayed less negative reactions to the smell of carrots. Similarly, those whose mothers had consumed kale powder capsules while pregnant reacted more favourably to the scent of kale. These extended findings suggest that young children retain a memory of the flavour …
