Between Harriet Sterling’s designer wedding gown and Queen Letizia’s day out in Spain, white was the dress colour of choice over the weekend.  Letizia joined her husband, King Felipe VI, and their two daughters, Leonor and Sofia, in Madrid on Saturday 6 June to welcome Pope Leo XIV for a historic visit to Spain – and she looked immaculate for the special occasion in a lace dress from luxury Spanish label, The 2nd Skin Co, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram.  The royal was the picture of elegance in a long-sleeved Guipure dress with a statement belt at the waist for a cinched look. Letizia paired her designer gown, which could easily make for a makeshift modern-style wedding dress, with timeless white slingback heels from Spanish footwear brand, Magrit. Rose wrote the forward for the newly released book, which comes just after what would have been the movie star’s 100th birthday. When Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling exchanged vows on Saturday, they didn’t just become husband and wife, the newlyweds also became stepparents. Amy Poehler is that fun, easygoing friend who’s somehow good at everything she does. With the launch of the Good Hang podcast, the 54-year-old Parks and Recreation star has quickly amassed a devoted audience that continues to climb. After releasing the first episode in March of 2025, Good Hang has racked up 709,000 subscribers on YouTube, 2 million on Instagram, and 757,300 on TikTok. Plus, it won the inaugural award for Best Podcast at the Golden Globes. The format of each 60(ish)-minute episode is pretty straightforward: Poehler has a sit-down chat in a question-and-answer style that’s at once engaging and delightful. Bees have been around for at least 120 million years, when, Scientific American said, our own ancestors were “rat-like” creatures. You’d think that’d give us plenty of time to learn about them. But so much information about their lives – like how exactly they fly, and why they can live underwater – has only been revealed relatively recently. A new study, published in Nature, looked into how they choose their queens (the sole breeding females in the hive), too. And it may not be as simple as giving them the famous specialised “royal jelly” secretions, which many non-queen bee larvae are also fed briefly, though this certainly seems to be a part of the picture. A waterfront amphitheater roughly twice the size of the Greek Theatre and two-thirds the size of the Hollywood Bowl is set to open this week in Long Beach — and there’s a lot riding on its success. City leaders hope F&M Bank Amphitheater of Long Beach, located next to the famed Queen Mary, will supplant declining revenues from oil extraction and lead to an uptick in tourism. Concert promoters, meanwhile, see it as filling an important gap in Southern California’s music venue market. The temporary amphitheater, which has a maximum capacity of 11,000, is meant to be a precursor to a permanent “Long Beach Bowl,” which is being pitched as the largest waterfront venue on the West Coast. The site opens June 6 with a performance by native son Snoop Dogg, and is expected to last for up to 10 years. The new amphitheater represents a years-long dream of Mayor Rex Richardson, who began championing an outdoor performance venue on the waterfront in 2023.
