Microsoft’s AI Futurist explains how he uses Copilot — and the real-world problems enterprises are solving with agents

Microsoft used its Build 2026 conference this week to push a clear message: agents are rapidly moving into production throughout enterprise systems, and the winning platform will be the one that gives them reliable context, governance, identity, memory — and secure access to enterprise data. The company announced Microsoft IQ as a context layer across GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio; Work IQ APIs coming June 16; Fabric IQ for structured business data; Foundry IQ for retrieval across enterprise knowledge and the live web; and Web IQ as a new agent-facing web search stack. Microsoft also introduced Scout, a personal work agent, and a whopping seven new in-house AI models in its growing MAI family across modalities and use cases, including MAI-Thinking-1. Those announcements sit directly in Marco Casalaina’s lane. Casalaina is Microsoft’s VP Products, Core AI and AI Futurist. He leads Microsoft’s AI Futures team and previously led teams across Azure AI, including Azure OpenAI, Vision, Speech, Decision, Language, Responsible AI and AI Studio. Before Microsoft, he led Salesforce’s Einstein AI team and …

Barry Diller Bets Big On Real-World Assets AI Can’t Replace With MGM Resorts Bid

People Incorporated, formerly IAC and run by Barry Diller, has submitted a non-binding proposal to acquire the remaining MGM Resorts shares it does not already own for $48.30 per share in cash.  The latest Bloomberg data show People Inc. owns 26.1% of MGM Resorts, or about 66.82 million shares. The offer to buy the remainder would cover roughly 73.9% of MGM that is not already owned. The $48.30-per-share offer represents a 24.1% premium to MGM’s 30-day volume-weighted average price, more than a 30% premium to its 90-day VWAP, and a 10.6% premium to the most recent closing price. Such a deal would value MGM Resorts at $18.8 billion, including debt MGM Resorts shares are up 15% in late morning trade.  “We began investing in MGM nearly six years ago because we believed it represented a rare kind of business: one with real-world assets that AI cannot easily replicate or disintermediate and exceptional digital growth opportunities. That conviction has only strengthened over time,” Diller wrote in a statement. He continued, “We continue to believe the market materially …

Protect your spine and build real-world stability with this 15-minute standing abs workout

Protect your spine and build real-world stability with this 15-minute standing abs workout

You might not notice it, but you twist (and resist twisting) your body all the time in everyday life. When you drive and reach behind you (in my case, to pass snacks to my kids in the back), carry groceries or change direction while walking, you are performing spinal rotation. This movement helps to protect your spine and keep your muscles flexible and resilient, reducing stiffness often linked to back pain. Adding intentional and controlled twisting into your fitness routine through rotational and anti-rotational exercises is a fantastic way to strengthen your core and protect your spine for the long term. Latest Videos From You may like In the workout below, the woodchop squat trains your core to generate power through rotation, while the dumbbell press-out works the opposite way—teaching your body to resist movement (anti-rotation) and remain as stable as possible. Master both movement patterns and you won’t just build strength, you’ll boost stability, balance and resilience in your core. Rotation and anti-rotational exercises also target the deep core—often overlooked abdominal muscles that support …

Real-world evidence shows generative AI is making human creative output more uniform

Real-world evidence shows generative AI is making human creative output more uniform

Using artificial intelligence for creative tasks tends to make human output more uniform on a collective level. A recent preprint study provides evidence that while these tools might boost individual performance, they contribute to an overall reduction in the diversity of ideas across different users. This widespread reliance on automated assistance could lead to a narrower range of concepts in collaborative environments. Generative artificial intelligence refers to computer programs capable of creating new text, images, or other media based on user instructions. The most common of these tools rely on large language models. Developers build these models by feeding them billions of sentences from the internet, allowing the software to recognize patterns and predict how words should follow one another. Since many users interact with similar systems trained on overlapping data, scientists have raised concerns about how this technology shapes human thought. Researchers Alwin de Rooij, assistant professor in creativity research at Tilburg University and associate professor at Avans University of Applied Sciences, and Michael Mose Biskjaer, associate professor in design creativity and innovation at …

This fleet is sharing their real-world EV results (and savings) online

This fleet is sharing their real-world EV results (and savings) online

We write a lot about fleet studies proving out the value of electric vehicles in the real world, but almost never hear from commercial fleets who are making the switch first hand – but one small fleet is doing just that, sharing their experience on Reddit for everyone to see. Over at the /electricvehicles subreddit, a Redditor going by Wonderful_Ear_6541 posted their company’s real world cost breakdown comparing a small fleet of work trucks and vans over the course of a year. The fleet included a 2018 Ford F-350 PowerStroke diesel, a pair of newer gas-powered F-250s, a 2022 Ford Transit, and a 2024 Ram ProMaster van. While all of those vehicles posted four- to five-digit fuel bills, the company’s 2022 Ford E-Transit cost the company just $698 over more than twenty-seven thousand miles of all-electric miles – an absolutely staggering savings, especially when compared to the the $7,515 fuel bill racked up by the ProMaster across 29,976 miles. For those of you doing the math, that’s over 38 miles per dollar in the electric van, compared …
