Kennedy Center staff told to begin removing Trump’s name, with June 12 deadline

Kennedy Center lawyers instructed staff to immediately begin removing President Trump’s name from the facility after a federal judge blocked the administration from rebranding the center to include the president’s name.  In an internal memo sent Thursday, which was first obtained and reviewed by CBS News, the center’s general counsel told employees that email signatures, letterhead and other… Source link

While the streaming service regularly adds a bursting list of titles to its service, it also takes things down – and does so without warning subscribers in the UK. This means that certain things you’ve been meaning to get around to viewing after adding them to your watchlist may suddenly disappear. Netflix Original titles are no longer safe from these removals, either. The Independent has compiled a full list of every single movie and TV series being taken down in June 2026 – which includes Big Boys, Jack Rooke’s Bafta-winning coming-of-age sitcom starring Dylan Llewellyn and Jon Pointing as first-year university students. Big Boys, based on Rooke’s real life, ran for three series, from 2022 to 2025, and is considered one of the best sitcoms to …

iPhone Ultra Fold Leaks: 5 Core Features Apple is Removing

Apple’s upcoming iPhone Ultra, its first-ever foldable smartphone, is stirring excitement and debate within the tech community. With a rumored starting price exceeding $2,000, it is poised to become the most expensive iPhone to date. However, recent leaks suggest that Apple has made significant compromises by removing several key features found in its more affordable models. I thought removing my side panel would cool my PC — I was wrong

I thought removing my side panel would cool my PC — I was wrong

I own a very specific PC case. Like “ludicrously specific”. The Hyte Y70 Infinite Touch is the most eye-alluring mid-tower I’ve ever owned. It’s also the most stylistically challenging case I’ve assembled, both due to its built-in touchscreen and, more importantly, its awesome-looking vertical GPU mount. The latter, fairly unique feature has caused me to make a PC-building error, which temporarily negatively impacted my home-built rig’s airflow. This being the first system I’ve ever put together with a vertically mounted graphics card, I regret not being a little more careful when setting up my latest Windows 11 PC. Because of the unique dimension demands of using a PCIe riser cable, I accidentally removed one of the rear PCIe brackets/slots from my case. And wouldn’t you know it? My desktop’s cooling has suffered as a result. Do yourself a favor when building your next PC: don’t make the following crucial case mistake. Related 8 catastrophic mistakes first-time PC builders make — and how to avoid them You can be sure nearly every PC builder has made …

Removing plastic from EU rivers before it reaches the ocean

Removing plastic from EU rivers before it reaches the ocean

From drones and smart cameras to biodegradable packaging, EU-funded researchers are working to remove plastic from rivers before it ever reaches the sea. From his bedroom desk in the Belgian town of Dendermonde, Gert Everaert used to watch the river Scheldt flow past. Barges and small boats drifted by. Birds fished. But the river also carried something less picturesque – a steady stream of litter and plastic waste. “Cars would stop and people threw rubbish straight into the water,” he recalled. “All kinds of trash floated by. That always made me incredibly sad.” Today, Everaert is no longer just watching. As deputy research director at the Flanders Marine Institute, he now leads INSPIRE, a major EU-funded research initiative bringing together scientists and innovators from 13 EU countries, plus Serbia and Thailand. Their aim is ambitious but straightforward: stop plastic in rivers before it reaches the ocean – and prevent it from ever entering our waterways in the first place. The INSPIRE team is developing a wide range of new tools to help clean up Europe’s …

Netflix is removing a large selection of movies and TV shows in April 2026

Get the latest entertainment news, reviews and star-studded interviews with our Independent Culture email Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter Netflix removes a large section of titles each month and, depending where you are in the world, you won’t be warned. While in the US, the streaming service announces which films and TV shows will be taken down ahead of time, this does not happen in the UK. This means that, as well as the addition of a staggering amount of projects this month, a number of titles could vanish from your watchlist without you realising. One such title vanishing on Tuesday (31 M) is Dexter, the American drama about a serial killer who lives a double life as a forensic technician working for the police department. All eight seasons of the show were added two years ago, but they’re now being removed due to the expiration of licencing rights. ‘Dexter’ has been removed from Netflix (Paramount) Fortunately, The Independent has …

Removing EU flags is ‘betrayal,’ French minister tells far-right mayors – POLITICO

He added: “There is no dissolution of national identity in European identity, any more than our local identities fade behind our national identity.” In Carcassonne in southern France, National Rally Mayor Christophe Barthès on Sunday filmed himself removing the EU flag from the balcony of the town hall and posted it on his X account. “Out with European flags at town hall! In with French flags,” he wrote. Bryan Masson, the newly elected mayor of Cagnes-sur-Mer, also in southern France, posted a photo of his office displaying a dozen French flags but no EU flag. And Carla Muti, mayor of Canohès, also posted a video of herself taking down an EU flag. Removing or replacing EU flags has become an established procedure among Euroskeptic leaders. When Poland’s right-wing Prime Minister Beata Szydło took office in 2015, she removed the EU flag from the backdrop of her government’s press room. Source link

On Removing God from the Equation

On Removing God from the Equation

This essay first appeared on the author’s personal blog, Sharwari’s notebook. I became an atheist for moral reasons. I could not reconcile a loving, omnipotent God with the suffering I saw in the world. If God is both all-powerful and all-good, then prolonged, undeserved pain becomes impossible to explain without bending either his goodness or his power. Somewhere in that equation, something fractures. So I stepped away. What I did not anticipate was this: removing God does not remove the need for God. Not the belief. The need. Because faith was never just belief. It was structure. It gave events a frame. It told you where suffering goes. It promised cosmic purpose, even when none was visible. Even when the math didn’t add up. When you remove that, the suffering remains. But the frame disappears. Recently I sat with someone I know who had lost her son after a long illness. Around her, people offered the language of faith – that his suffering had purpose, that pain this deep earns something beyond this life, that …

Cuba ‘categorically’ rejects prospect of removing Diaz-Canel in US talks | Miguel Diaz-Canel News

A top official in the Cuban government has denied “categorically” that Havana is negotiating with the United States over the fate of its president, Miguel Diaz-Canel. On Friday, Vice Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio told a news conference that shake-ups in the government were not up for discussion. Recommended Stories list of 3 itemsend of list “The political system of Cuba is not up for negotiation, and of course neither the president ‌nor the position of any official in Cuba is subject to negotiation with the United States,” Fernandez de Cossio said. His remarks were a firm repudiation of reports that the administration of United States President Donald Trump was seeking the removal of Diaz-Canel. The New York Times reported earlier this week that, while Trump is pushing for Diaz-Canel’s ouster, he is not seeking the dismantlement of other parts of the Cuban government. The plan would be similar to what Trump implemented in Venezuela after his January 3 attack to abduct and imprison Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. That manoeuvre left intact the rest …
