It is a substance that can cause severe burns, respiratory issues and death. The New York Times reported Saturday that Israel used white phosphorus in the Lebanese town of Nabatieh May 30 by verifying social media videos. Israel re-started strikes on the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon shortly after Israel and the U.S. jointly struck Iran at the end of February. Hezbollah had first re-ignited the cross-border conflict with projectiles fired at communities in Northern Israel in early March. While Lebanon and Israel agreed to a ceasefire Wednesday, Hezbollah rejected that agreement. iPhone users may soon find it easier to divide the restaurant bill when dining out with a group of friends. Apple is readying a new feature in iOS 27 that will allow users to photograph a receipt, assign items on the receipt to different people and generate payment requests, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The new feature will be tied to Apple’s peer-to-peer Apple Cash feature in the Wallet app, which lets users send, receive and request money directly through their iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch without a third-party app. The feature is expected to be announced as early as next week at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, Gurman wrote Monday. Since its introduction as Apple Passbook in 2021, Apple Wallet has slowly become one of the most important apps on the iPhone. Meta — the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp — continues to integrate AI across its platform. Unfortunately, it appears the company overlooked a major flaw: Meta’s AI support chatbot could apparently be tricked into providing unauthorized users with login access to any Instagram account. Over the past few days, a number of highly followed Instagram accounts were hacked. The Obama White House Instagram account, with 2.4 million followers, was compromised and posted a caption on Sunday that stated: “The White House is under Shiites’ control.” Other accounts, such as the official Instagram account belonging to the Chief Master Sergeant of Space Force, were also hacked. If you’ve had your sights set on sliding on a pair of Apple’s smart glasses, you’re going to have to wait a little longer than previously thought. Apple is now aiming to release the much-rumored AI glasses in “late 2027,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The glasses were previously expected to be announced later this year and begin shipping in early 2027, but Gurman reported in his Power On newsletter Sunday that Apple has experienced “bumps” in development. Apple’s smart glasses are regarded as a key component of the company’s product roadmap, Gurman writes. In his Power On newsletter today, he said that iOS 28 will be “far more significant” than iOS 27, but he did not provide any specific details. “Next year’s ’28’ releases are already shaping up to be far more significant than the ’27’ updates,” wrote Gurman, without elaborating. iOS 28 is codenamed “Bell,” while macOS 28 is “Poppy,” he said. iOS 28 would be the first version available on Apple’s rumored 20th-anniversary iPhone, which is expected to be released in September next year. iOS 27 will seemingly be focused on Siri and Apple Intelligence.
