Daring stars breaking the no nudity rules in ‘naked’ dresses at Cannes 2026

Daring stars breaking the no nudity rules in ‘naked’ dresses at Cannes 2026

Some rules were made to be broken, especially, it seems, in Cannes, where celebrities have defied the festival’s “explicit” no nudity rules by continuing to embrace the ‘naked dress’ trend. In 2025, the Cannes Film Festival enforced dress code rules, prohibiting nudity on the red carpet and “any other area of the festival” for “decency reasons.” That rule includes the celebrity-favored ‘naked’ dress, defined by barely-there materials such as sheer mesh, tulle, lace, or crystals, that create the illusion of nudity while clothed. “The aim is not to regulate attire per se, but to prohibit full nudity on the red carpet, in accordance with the institutional framework of the event and French law,” a statement from the festival read. While some guests, like Demi Moore, have abided by the dress code, others have ignored it completely or challenged the rules in semi-sheer fabrics. Riley Keough breaks Cannes ‘explicit’ no nudity rules in sheer Chanel look

Riley Keough breaks Cannes ‘explicit’ no nudity rules in sheer Chanel look

Riley Keough put the Cannes Film Festival’s no nudity rules to the test when she rocked up in a sheer outfit on Thursday evening. The 36-year-old defied the festival’s “explicit” dress code, which was enforced last year, which bans several types of gowns, particularly the celebrity-favored ‘naked’ dress, defined by barely-there materials, such as sheer mesh, tulle, lace, or crystals, that create the illusion of nudity. Riley seemingly ignored the rules and arrived on the red carpet at the Histoires Parallèles (Parallel Tales) premiere in a sheer, blush organza two-piece from Chanel’s 2026 spring collection. The actress looked gorgeous in her rule-breaking set, which featured a loose shirt and a matching skirt, both with embellished trimmings, that exposed her lingerie underneath. Camila Morrone Feared Being Series Lead After ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’

Camila Morrone Feared Being Series Lead After ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’

Camila Morrone may be leading Netflix’s new series, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, but she admits to having some fear of being at the top of the call sheet after working on Daisy Jones & the Six. In an interview with People magazine, Morrone reflected on working on the Prime Video series at the time which she starred in alongside Keough and Sam Claflin. “I saw Riley Keough and Sam Claflin go through hell on Daisy Jones & the Six,” Morrone said. She recalled “looking at Riley” as the series lead, and how she didn’t “know if she’s going to make it.” “She was withered. She was down,” Morrone said of her former co-star. She described Keough as a “real gangster” for pushing through it all. The 10-episode Prime Video series chronicles the renowned fictional band Daisy Jones & The Six as they find their way to success and instant fame in the 1970s. Keough and Claflin both sing the songs in the show and learned how to play the guitar. The cast also …

Karim Aïnouz on Eviscerating the Super Rich in ‘Rosebush Pruning’

Karim Aïnouz on Eviscerating the Super Rich in ‘Rosebush Pruning’

“People are roses. Families are rosebushes. Rosebushes need pruning.” With that ominous metaphor, Ed [Callum Turner] introduces us to the super-rich, and sordidly dysfunctional, family at the center of Rosebush Pruning, the new film from acclaimed Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz (Firebrand, Motel Destino). They’re a pretty nasty bunch. Younger siblings Anna [Riley Keough] and Robert [Lukas Gage] are incest-curious, borderline psychotics. Their father (played by Tracey Letts) is a blind, soft-spoken, abusive tyrant. Eldest brother Jack [Jamie Bell] seems almost normal, though there, too, are signs of deep trauma. The American clan wallows in a life of pointless opulence in a Spanish villa, discussing designer clothes and snarking at servants and each other. But when Jack, the family lynchpin, announces he is moving in with his girlfriend, Martha [Elle Fanning], and Ed starts to unravel the truth surrounding the death of their mother [Pamela Anderson], things fall apart. The pruning is coming, and it will not be pretty. This modern-day take on Marco Bellocchio‘s radical 1965 satire Fists in the Pocket, adapted by frequent Yorgos …

Callum Turner, Elle Fanning in Dark Satire

Callum Turner, Elle Fanning in Dark Satire

The Pet Shop Boys’ synth-pop banger “Paninaro” is a tongue-in-cheek anthem to hedonistic Italian youth culture of the 1980s, its label-whore obsessions and its blithe superficiality. Fittingly, the song’s thumping beat is heard twice, real loud, in Rosebush Pruning, Karim Aїnouz’s high-gloss, pitch-dark satire about an American family described by one of its scions as mediocre, vapid egotists, who will never have to work thanks to a large inheritance. Fashion and techno music are the chief interests of the surviving members, one of whom dreams of Bottega Veneta loafers floating in the sky. The Taylor family left New York for the Catalonia coast six years earlier and have never quite managed to fit in, which is not surprising given the insular bubble of circle-jerk flattery that have built. Rosebush Pruning The Bottom Line Tart and amusing at times but leaves a sour taste.
