NOAA this week predicted a below-normal 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, citing the development of El Niño conditions in the Pacific, which typically help suppress hurricane formation by increasing wind shear over the Atlantic basin. Forecasters expect between eight and 13 named storms this season, fewer than the historically active stretch of recent years. Still, meteorologists caution that “below normal” does not mean risk-free, especially with ocean temperatures remaining unusually warm in parts of the Atlantic. The upcoming spin-off has been confirmed to be arriving on Prime Video in 2027 and will take viewers back to the 1950s, 70 years before the events of the popular original satirical superhero show. The series is the fourth series within the Vought-centric universe, joining: The Boys, which ended this week; Gen V (which was cancelled after two seasons) and animation The Boys: Diabolical. Original series cast members Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash are both back for the series, with their complicated relationship becoming central to the storyline. One of Berlin’s rising-star, early stage startups, Peec AI, just crossed $10 million in annualized revenue, according to internal dashboard data seen and verified by TechCrunch. Peec AI raised its $21 million Series A six months ago. While CEO Marius Meiners wouldn’t disclose its valuation to me at that time (only revealing that it was above $100 million), he did say the startup had grown its revenue to more than $4 million in the 10 months since its launch. So, it has more than doubled its revenue trajectory, and at a faster pace. Peec helps brands track and improve their visibility in AI searches. While based in Berlin, it recently opened an office in New York.  It’s also serving as proof of one of the key market shifts happening in Europe’s tech scene.  “Founders these days track revenue much more closely,” Antler partner Christoph Klink was telling me just a couple of days ago. Fine particulate matter from wildfires is associated with a rise in mental health emergencies among children and teenagers, according to a recent multi-country analysis. The researchers observed that emergency department visits for conditions like anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia increased after days with higher wildfire smoke exposure. These results were detailed in a paper published in Nature Mental Health. Fine particulate matter consists of microscopic droplets and bits of ash suspended in the air. These particles are incredibly small, measuring about thirty times smaller than the width of a single human hair. Because of their tiny size, they can be inhaled deeply into the lungs and easily pass into the bloodstream. Children and teenagers are uniquely vulnerable to this type of air pollution. Young people breathe a higher volume of air relative to their body size compared to adults. They also have less efficient bodily systems for detoxifying harmful chemicals, and their rapidly developing brains are highly sensitive to environmental stressors.
