On an unseasonably warm June afternoon by Bay Area standards, with the temperature at kickoff around 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 degrees Celsius), many of those vacant seats were on the east side of the stadium that typically can get very hot for much of the year. With the Swiss fans clad it bright red, they blended in with the empty red seats. On Friday, FIFA blamed the empty seats during the World Cup match between South Korea and the Czech Republic in Guadalajara on fans who watched from the concourses. The first day of ticket presales for K-pop superstars BTS’ upcoming Singapore concert kicked off at 12pm on Wednesday (Jun 3), with queue numbers in their ten thousands. Many members of the CNA Lifestyle team took part in Wednesday’s presale, which was open to fans who held an official ARMY membership from fan platform Weverse. The colleague with the best queue number ended up placing 28,644 in line. At about 2.25pm, roughly two and a half hours after the presale session first started, one CNA Lifestyle journalist finally managed to enter the ticketing page and was able to purchase two CAT 2 tickets. Despite initially wanting to purchase VIP tickets, she revealed that her ticketing journey saw her facing long waiting times as well as numerous lags and crashes. “The system kept crashing every time I selected the [VIP] section,” she said, adding that she experienced about five crashes. “At this point, I’ll take anything.” Similar issues were reported by other fans on the social media pages of Ticketmaster, the ticketing platform for the BTS …

Passengers on a train to Nottingham were ‘thrown out of their seats’, resulting in injuries, during an over-speeding rail incident. The train, operated by Northern, reached speeds as high as 70mph in a 30mph zone, also causing some passengers to fall to the floor. The incident happened at 1.47pm on May 4, as the 12.09pm service from Leeds to Nottingham was passing through the Trowell North and South junctions in Nottinghamshire. At the junctions, the train was routed over five sets of points for a diverging route which had a permitted speed of 30mph (48km/h). The train traversed the first set of points at 70mph (112km/h) and was still travelling at 45mph (72km/h) when it reached the last set of points. Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) said the signals on approach to the junctions were displaying the correct indications for the diverging route. Due to the high speed, the train lurched sideways, causing some passengers to be thrown from their seats and others to fall to the floor. This resulted in a number of minor …

Ron DeSantis on Monday released a proposed redraw of the state’s congressional lines that, on paper, would create four new GOP-leaning seats — an aggressive proposal that the governor is using to try to challenge anti-gerrymandering language in the state Constitution. The More in Common study suggests Rachel Reeves, Wes Streeting and Yvette Cooper are among those who could be kicked out by voters at the next election. Labour leadership hopeful and former deputy prime minister Angela Rayner would also lose her seat, as would the likes of John Healey, Ed Miliband, Hilary Benn, Lisa Nandy, Pat McFadden, Jonathan Reynolds and Darren Jones. Although Keir Starmer would be re-elected in the traditionally safe Labour seat of Holborn and St Pancras, his majority would be slashed. Reform would win a staggering 324 seats – just short of an overall Commons majority – while the Greens would see their number of MPs quadruple to 21, the poll said.
