Influencer dies after Soho street crash as star faces murder charge | UK | News

Instagram influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska – also known by her handle Klaudiaglam – has died after she was in collision with a car outside a nightclub in Soho. The star from Essex, also a model, was in a critical condition in hospital after she was hit in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 19) on Argyll Street. Gabrielle Carrington, 29, X Factor finalist, appeared in court on Tuesday accused of attempting to murder her fellow content creator Klaudia, 32, outside the Inca nightclub. Police had charged Carrington, of Broadfield Road, Manchester, with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, dangerous driving and drink driving on Monday night. A 58-year-old man suffered life-changing injures following the incident, and a woman in her 30s was treated for minor injuries to her wrist. Following Ms Zakrzewska’s death, the charge of attempted murder will be increased to murder, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. Carrington did not enter any pleas during the hearing and will next appear at the Old Bailey on May 19. Detective Chief Inspector Alison …

Khaite and The Judd Foundation Hosted New York’s Culturati For Dinner At The Last Cool Building In SoHo

On a Wednesday evening in April—winter’s chill still lingering in the night air—a cast-iron SoHo building, 101 Spring Street, was packed. It’s one of the few addresses in the neighborhood left without a brand name on front: next door is Retrofête, a trendy New York based fashion brand known for their sparkly party dresses. Around the corner is the Museum of Ice Cream. And a Sephora. And a Capital One Café—a coffee shop chain by, yes, the Fortune 500 bank. It’s also likely the only building left that still retains mostly the same interiors as it had in the 1970s, when SoHo was populated with artists rather than the essentially elevated shopping mall it is today. And it’s definitely the only one that, at this particular moment in time, was filled with famous names like Aubrey Plaza, Grace Gummer, and Solange Knowles. They were all gathered there to mark the legacy of one man: Donald Judd, arguably the most famous of those aforementioned SoHo artists who once lived and worked in the very building they …

Today, things look wildly different from Jones’s original vision. Soho House is now an international a chain – a sort of Prezzo of ”you’re not on the list” institutions – with more than 40 locations worldwide. New Houses are opening imminently in Tokyo, Milan, Madrid, and Sydney and the brand is also set to venture to California’s Coachella …

Soho House’s Art Collection Is Getting Serious

Soho House’s Art Collection Is Getting Serious

While globally, Soho House recently completed a $2.7 billion deal to once again become a private company, domestically, the members’ club is focusing on refreshing its art. Since the brand began acquiring and curating art in 2009 at Soho House 76 Dean Street, its growing collection has become one of the biggest connection points with members, leading programming and driving interaction. Rooted in each House’s location and featuring both emerging and established artists from that city, the Soho House Art Collection has grown over 17 years to more than 11,000 works. Soho House Chief Art Director Kate Bryan and artist JR at Soho Beach House Courtesy of Soho House “It will hit 15,000 artworks in the next five years,” says Kate Bryan, Soho House chief art director. Since she joined the company in 2016, Bryan has been focused on growth, taking the collection from 2,000 pieces to where it sits today. The acquisition strategy revolves around direct relationships with artists and galleries. Once their work is selected for a House, they are invited to become …

I paid homage to David Bowie on a special Soho staycation with a rock’n’roll twist

As the world stopped to mourn David Bowie’s passing, 10 January 2016 seemed to mark the day the music died. Ten years later, however, rock’n’roll is still very much alive in a corner of Soho that boasts a proud musical legacy. The Sex Pistols once lived in Denmark Street, the Rolling Stones recorded in the area and Bowie hung out here, helping to establish a heritage that’s still visible in the numerous guitar shops that have long packed this compact street’s 100-yard length. Now, Chateau Denmark is providing the ideal way to soak up the neighbourhood’s rich history, offering 44 apartments and rooms across 16 buildings on Denmark Street, all imaginatively crafted to bring a rock’n’roll twist to the luxury London hotel. Chateau Denmark provides a luxe sanctuary in Soho Whether you’re a native of the capital or simply visiting, it’s an ideal base from which to explore Soho, whether you fancy taking in world-class art at the nearby National Gallery or perusing the big brands and unique boutiques of Covent Garden. There’s also a …

Barang, London Bridge review: If you visit one new restaurant this winter, make it this one

Off to Barang, then, not previously on the list on the grounds of it being a residency. Risky business for critics, residencies: 10 minutes after the review comes out, an email flies in announcing they’re upping sticks with new backers and big ideas. But Barang has done the rounds for a while, first popping up in the summer of 2023 as weekly supper clubs in chef Tom Geoffrey’s home; after that, variously, nights at Carousel, Oranj, Mambow, six weeks at South London Louie. Geoffrey has been at the stove in New York, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, somewhere in Sweden. A hot tub, probably. All quite a lot for the former head of events at King’s Business School, who before that was an actor (“I’ll treasure that three-star review from Total Film forever”). Source link
