‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ Review: A Solid, Safe, Espionage Endeavor

‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ Review: A Solid, Safe, Espionage Endeavor

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is back in Ghost War, the first full-length movie starring John Krasinski as the famed CIA operative. The movie, directed by Andrew Bernstein (who directed episodes of the TV series), premieres on Prime Video on Wednesday. If you’re at all familiar with the four-season series that preceded it, you’re about to get more of the same. Well, sorta. When Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan TV series premiered, I was all in. Truthfully, I am a sucker for espionage stories and spy thrillers, and I write about TV, so having Clancy’s iconic character make the leap to episodic storytelling was a no-brainer for me to tune in. I didn’t stick with it, though.  Jack Ryan feels more at home in self-contained, big-budget action films. Just look at the previous iterations of the character as played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. Well, three years after the original series concluded, we’re getting a new Jack Ryan movie — except, it’s not in theaters. Read more: Prime Video: The 31 Absolute Best Shows …

11 Phrases People Only Say When They’re A Solid Person With Good Morals

Even thought it seems like the everything is bleak and our worries are all-consuming, there are some people who give us hope that there are actually still kind people in the world.  The phrases someone only says when they’re actually a solid person with good morals are meant to uplift and form deep connections with those around you them. They treat people how they want to be treated and move through life spreading kindness and compassion, with true integrity. Here are the phrases people only say when they’re actually solid people with good morals 1. ‘I should have handled that better’ Sanja Miljevic | Shutterstock Nobody is perfect, that’s just a fact of life. As much as people try to be the best version of themselves, even those with good morals stumble from time to time. Still, when someone messes up, the correct thing to do is to apologize, because even if it’s hard, taking accountability matters a lot — not only for your relationships, but for yourself as well.  As psychotherapist F. Metal Gear Solid Movie in the Works

Metal Gear Solid Movie in the Works

What a difference a Hollywood year can make. Just a year ago, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein were a filmmaking duo with humble indie horror roots, prepping to release their first sizeable feature, Final Destination: Bloodlines from New Line Cinema. Now, thanks to that movie’s critical and box office success, Lipovsky and Stein, who first met 17 years ago as competitors on Steven Spielberg’s filmmaking reality show On the Lot, have become one of the busiest moviemakers around. They are so in demand that Sony Pictures has snared them, signing the duo to a sweeping and expansive first-look deal, which covers all of the studio’s film labels. Under the deal, Lipovsky and Stein’s newly-launched company, Wonderlab, will develop films for the duo to direct and original projects that they will produce for other directors. The focus is creating wildly fun, commercial, character-driven, genre-bending films. They are currently meeting potential executives to help lead the company. And as part of the deal, the duo will direct Sony’s Columbia Pictures adaptation of Metal Gear Solid, the pioneering …

Former MoMA Director Glenn Lowry Says Leon Black Is a ‘Solid Trustee’

Former MoMA Director Glenn Lowry Says Leon Black Is a ‘Solid Trustee’

While collector Leon Black continues to face controversy over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, he has found a defender in Glenn Lowry, a former director of the Museum of Modern Art, the New York institution where Black is currently a board member. Black was previously chair of MoMA’s board, but he left that position in 2021 following the publication of reports on his friendship and business relationship with Epstein. Prior to his departure from that position, activists and high-profile artists had called for Black’s ejection. Related Articles That year, Black also departed his role as CEO of the investment firm Apollo Global Management. In 2023, Black paid $62.5 million to the US Virgin Islands to settle all Epstein-related claims against him. Black’s lawyer said at the time that he had “engaged and made payments to Jeffrey Epstein for legitimate financial advisory services, which based on everything now known, he very much regrets.” Black made yet more headlines in 2026, with the release of new Epstein-related files, one of which featured a lengthy …

Growing up with solid cooking fuels linked to long-term brain health risks

Growing up with solid cooking fuels linked to long-term brain health risks

Exposure to indoor air pollution during childhood tends to be linked to poorer cognitive health in older adulthood. This suggests that access to clean energy early in life might help protect the brain as it ages. These findings come from a recent study published in Social Science & Medicine, which provides evidence that growing up in homes using solid fuels for cooking can set off a chain of disadvantages that affect memory and thinking skills decades later. Xu Zong conducted the new study to explore a gap in our understanding of how early environmental exposures shape aging. While many scientists have established that breathing polluted air during adulthood increases the risk of cognitive decline, the long-term impact of breathing indoor air pollution during childhood remained mostly unexplored. Around the world, billions of people still rely on solid fuels like coal and wood for daily cooking and heating. This practice fills homes with toxic pollutants. “I am interested in understanding how early-life living conditions, specifically indoor air pollution, may have long-term consequences for cognitive health. Air …

‘Survivor 50,’ ‘Scrubs’ Premiere Ratings Are Solid

‘Survivor 50,’ ‘Scrubs’ Premiere Ratings Are Solid

The milestone 50th edition of Survivor pulled in solid ratings numbers Wednesday night — as did another show that debuted in the early 2000s, ABC’s revival of Scrubs. The supersized Survivor 50 premiere averaged 5.06 million viewers over its three hours. That’s the biggest same-day audience for Survivor episode since the penultimate episode of season 45 in December 2023. The show also delivered CBS’ best Wednesday night performance since May 2022’s season 42 finale of Survivor. The premiere also posted a 0.95 rating among adults 18-49 (equivalent to about 1.29 million people in that age range) — the best night one showing for Survivor since November 2021 — and a 1.22 rating among adults 25-54 (about 1.53 million viewers in that demo). Both figures led primetime on Wednesday. Related Stories Scrubs premiered with two episodes on ABC Wednesday, with the revived series airing its first episodes since 2010. The debut episode pulled in 4.41 million viewers and a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic; the latter is the best same-day mark for any network comedy in its …

Sony LinkBuds Clip Review: Solid Buds, Premium Price

Sony LinkBuds Clip Review: Solid Buds, Premium Price

Popping the top reveals more slabs of gloss and matte plastic in the form of clip-on buds that wrap around the back of your ears. As someone who’s tried dozens of open buds over the last few years, it’s hard not to be mildly underwhelmed by their basic aesthetic, which is somehow remarkably similar to Soundcore’s Aeroclip (and multiple other pairs) yet less striking. Their weight of 6.4 grams is heftier than my favorite pairs, but still light enough for all-day wear, and the beefy back barrel packs an impressive nine hours of battery play time, with 27 more in the case. Sony’s choice to configure the case’s magnetic stands so the buds face down toward the front instead of out to the sides proved slightly irksome in daily use. Nearly all other clip-on buds I’ve tried face outward, letting you naturally attach them to your ears in one motion. Sony’s pair forces you to awkwardly twist one hand for insertion, and the other to put them back. It’s a small thing, but it remained …

Metal Gear Solid 4 Gets Its First Remaster Nearly Two Decades After It Came Out

Sony held its State of Play on Thursday for PS5 games, and a segment of the show was dedicated to upcoming Konami releases. Starting off was the reveal of a new collection of Metal Gear Solid games, which includes the one title that hasn’t made the jump to next-gen consoles yet: Metal Gear Solid 4.  Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 bundles remasters of two previously released games (Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker). This marks a happy day for Metal Gear fans who have been waiting for MGS4 to make the jump to newer consoles. The game first came out in 2008 for the PS3, and it’s the only one in the franchise that Konami never attempted to re-release or remaster until this new collection.  When does Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 come out?  The collection will be released on Aug. 27. It’s available for preorder on the PSN Store for $50.  What platforms will Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 be …
