The same crowd that roared at the start of the series was stunned, with their beloved Hurricanes shut out through the first two periods for the first time since mid-January. They were fewer than 15 minutes away from a 2-0 hole that only five of 55 teams have overcome to hoist the Cup. The topsy-turvy ride that followed ended with Carolina winning in emotional fashion and making this a competitive series between two of the best teams in the NHL. Game 3 is Saturday night in Las Vegas. ABC has aced the first test of its finals week. The network saw big audiences for the opening games of both the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on Tuesday and the NBA Finals on Wednesday. Both telecasts were the best this decade for the first game of either series. Starting with the larger audience: Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs averaged 16.93 million viewers, the best for the series opener since 2018. Wednesday’s game grew by 90 percent from the last year’s game 1 (8.91 million). The Knicks’ 105-95 win in San Antonio drew the fifth largest audience for the NBA Finals opener in the 24 years ABC has had rights to the series, behind the four straight matchups between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers from 2015-18. Having a team from the country’s largest media market in the Knicks certainly helped ABC. June 5 : Morgan Stanley is projecting that SpaceX’s revenue could reach $3.4 trillion in 2040, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The Wall Street giant is anticipating that revenue from SpaceX’s AI business will dramatically grow in the coming years, the report said. Elon Musk’s SpaceX began meeting with investors on ​Thursday in its IPO roadshow. The rocket and satellite maker is aiming to raise $75 billion, in what would be the biggest IPO ever. Morgan Stanley projects SpaceX’s AI business will contribute around $190 billion in revenue in 2030, while total revenue is expected to be near $330 billion that year, the WSJ report said. In 2025, SpaceX’s revenue jumped to $18.67 billion from $14.02 billion a year earlier, but the company swung to a net loss of $4.94 billion from a profit of $791 million. RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb took a puck to the face that knocked him out of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday night. A slap shot from Carolina’s Nikolaj Ehlers hit McNabb square in the face just past the midway point of the first period. McNabb dropped his stick, went down to the ice and grabbed his nose as he skated immediately off and down the tunnel. “It’s a scary play,’ forward Brett Howden said. ”You never want to see that. Claude Lemieux, a four-time Stanley Cup champion whose ferocious, hard-hitting style of play angered opponents and sometimes overshadowed his prodigious skills and ability to deliver in the biggest games, has died after taking his own life, according to authorities. He was 60. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that deputies responded just after 3 a.m. to the scene of an apparent suicide at the family’s furniture store in Lake Park, Fla. The office said the victim was believed to be Lemieux, who was found in a rear warehouse by one of his sons. The NHL Alumni Association announced Lemieux’s death in a post on social media.
