Google clamps down on Antigravity ‘malicious usage’, cutting off OpenClaw users in sweeping ToS enforcement move

Google clamps down on Antigravity ‘malicious usage’, cutting off OpenClaw users in sweeping ToS enforcement move

Google caused controversy among some developers this weekend and today, Monday, February 23rd, after restricting their usage of its new Antigravity “vibe coding” platform, alleging “maliciously usage.”  Some users who had been using the open source autonomous AI agent OpenClaw in conjunction with agents built on Antigravity, as well as those who had connected OpenClaw agents to their Gmails, claimed on social media that they lost access to their Google accounts.  According to Google, said users had been using Antigravity to access a larger number of Gemini tokens via third-party platforms like OpenClaw, which overwhelmed the system for other Antigravity customers.  This move has cut off several users, underscoring the architectural and trust issues that can arise with OpenClaw. The timing of Google’s crackdown is particularly pointed. Just one week ago, on February 15, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger had joined OpenAI to lead its “next generation of personal agents.” While OpenClaw remains an open-source project under an independent foundation, it is now financially backed and strategically guided by Google’s primary …

Sweeping school reforms to be unveiled – but one mum says it’s ‘just what I was fearing’ | UK News

Sweeping education reforms aimed at halving the disadvantage gap are to be unveiled by the government, with the plans also expected to include significant changes to the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) system. Ministers will aim to close the attainment gap between poorer pupils and more affluent peers, with a long-term target to halve the disadvantage gap by the time today’s youngest pupils reach the end of secondary school. Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson described the proposals as a “golden opportunity to cut the link between background and success”. “Our schools have made great strides in recent decades,” she said. “Yet for too long, many children in our country have been let down by a one-size-fits-all system, denied opportunity because they’re poor or because they have additional needs.” The government’s schools white paper – the policy document setting out its plans for future legislation – will also recommend changes to how disadvantage funding is allocated. Rather than relying primarily on free school meal eligibility, funding could instead consider factors such as household income levels, duration …

US Supreme Court strikes down Trump’s sweeping tariffs

The Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s far-reaching global tariffs on Friday, handing him a stinging loss that sparked a furious attack on the court he helped shape. The decision could have ripple effects on economies around the globe after Trump’s moves to remake post-World War II trading alliances by wielding tariffs as a weapon. But an unbowed Trump pledged to impose a new global 10% tariff under a law that’s restricted to 150 days and has never been used to apply tariffs before. Keywords for this article Source link

Hitchcock Mayor arrested after sweeping gambling investigation targets City Hall operations

A massive illegal gambling crackdown in Hitchcock, Texas, has resulted in 33 arrests, the seizure of hundreds of gaming machines, and the arrest of the city’s sitting mayor after investigators uncovered what authorities describe as an organized criminal operation spread across the city. Investigators with the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force carried out 21 search warrants in Hitchcock on February 18. The coordinated effort included multiple suspected game rooms and, notably, City Hall. According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation was launched after officials received numerous complaints from residents about unlawful gambling establishments operating in the city. In an earlier statement shared by the sheriff’s office on Facebook, officials said the warrants were executed “on February 18, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.” and were part of “an extensive investigation into illegal gambling operations.” Authorities added that deputies served warrants “at 20 separate locations believed to be operating unlawful gambling establishments.” City Hall was among the properties searched. The sheriff’s office explained that the City of Hitchcock was included “due to its regulatory responsibilities …

California tribes applaud approval of sweeping new cardroom gambling regulations

California tribes applaud approval of sweeping new cardroom gambling regulations

California’s long-running fight over cardroom gaming entered a new phase this month after state officials approved a pair of closely contested gambling regulations. The California Nations Indian Gaming Association quickly praised the decision, saying it gives the Department of Justice clearer authority to rein in practices tribes have argued for years violate state law. “These regulations are an important step in combating unscrupulous and illegal gaming in California,” CNIGA Chairman James Siva said in a statement sent to ReadWrite. “The regulations further clarify that games and practices employed by commercial card rooms are indeed prohibited under California law. Running a business contrary to that law is an illicit business, period. We hope that Department of Justice will now enforce these regulations so California can ensure a well-regulated gaming industry that is safe for consumers.” An important message from Mayor Tasha Cerda and the City of Gardena re: new state regulations that will significantly reshape California's cardroom industry: pic.twitter.com/oPuqqh18YD — City of Gardena (@GardenaCityPIO) February 13, 2026 The Office of Administrative Law signed off on two …

Government announces sweeping ‘crackdown’ on social media firms | UK News

The government has announced a sweeping “crackdown” on tech firms to protect children from illegal content. It will include measures to eliminate “vile illegal content created by AI,” and could even open the door to an Australia-style age limit on social media, a Number 10 spokesperson said. It also promises to shut down the loophole that has allowed chatbots to produce illegal content. On Sunday Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said “no platform gets a free pass” from the new restrictions. Image: Keir Starmer insisted no platforms would be given a “free pass” from the new measures. Under the plans, ministers will “shut a legal loophole and force all AI chatbot providers to abide by illegal content duties in the Online Safety Act”, according to a government announcement. Introduced in 2023, the Online Safety Act imposes strict duties on social media platforms – particularly in protecting children from harmful content. The government has also promised a consultation with tech firms to discuss how to best safeguard children. A spokesperson said that means “being able to …

DHS has no immediate plans for sweeping city-specific immigration enforcement operations, officials say

DHS has no immediate plans for sweeping city-specific immigration enforcement operations, officials say

The Department of Homeland Security has no immediate plans for more large-scale immigration operations focusing on specific cities, two senior DHS officials told NBC News. The news comes a day after President Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan announced the end of Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota. DHS had billed it as its largest immigration enforcement operation to date. The Trump administration deployed more than 3,000 officers and agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection and other federal agencies into the Twin Cities area beginning in November — resulting in the arrests of 4,000 people and triggering anti-ICE demonstrations. The fatal shootings of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, both of whom were U.S. citizens, by immigration agents in Minneapolis brought national attention and scrutiny to the massive deployment of ICE and CBP officers in American cities. The two senior DHS officials said that moving forward, ICE will focus on arresting serious criminals with immigration violations nationwide, rather than focusing on specific locations. There are also no future plans to have Border …

A Wave of Unexplained Bot Traffic Is Sweeping the Web

A Wave of Unexplained Bot Traffic Is Sweeping the Web

Many people suspect that these bots are part of an AI company’s effort to collect training data from web pages. In 2025, AI bots accounted for a significant portion of overall web traffic, which crawl the internet for text and other information to feed to data-hungry large language models. But there are some key differences between these Chinese bots and other AI bots. First, there’s simply way more of them. King says on his website that the traffic from China and Singapore accounts for 22 percent of overall traffic, while all other AI bots account for less than 10 percent combined. Most leading AI companies clearly identify their bots to website operators, which also makes them easier to block. The frontier AI labs are “not as interested in evading” bot-blocking rules, says Brent Maynard, senior director of security technology and strategy at the internet infrastructure company Akamai. He says AI companies usually only start trying to disguise their bots after a website shuts the front door. This wave of Chinese bots, however, disguised themselves as …

Pennsylvania novelty game company pleads guilty in sweeping illegal gambling case

Pennsylvania novelty game company pleads guilty in sweeping illegal gambling case

The attorney general of Pennsylvania announced on Monday (February 9) that a Schuylkill County novelty game company has admitted guilt in what prosecutors describe as a sweeping illegal gambling operation that reached far beyond its home base. At the center of the case is Deibler Brothers Novelty Company, which authorities say placed and operated hundreds of unlawful video gambling machines across large parts of the state. In Schuylkill County Common Pleas Court, the company pleaded guilty to corrupt organizations, a first-degree felony. Under the plea agreement, Deibler Brothers was placed on probation and ordered to forfeit $3 million in cash and other assets to the Commonwealth. Officials say the forfeiture is one of the larger penalties tied to Pennsylvania’s enforcement actions against illegal video gaming.
