The disturbing messages ‘teacher sent to student after kissing him for 15 minutes in car’ | World | News

Alisha Crins, 40, reportedly also discussed the situation in a group chat with friends (Image: Facebook) New details from an arrest report in the US have revealed the alleged messages between a teacher and a student. Alisha Crins, 40, allegedly told a teenage student she could not stop thinking about his lips after kissing him, according to police documents. The former PE teacher at Ponaganset High School in Glocester, Rhode Island, has been charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault. She has pleaded not guilty, The Sun reports. The former student was 17 when he filed a sexual harassment complaint last October. Police say the alleged relationship began when the boy was a sophomore at the school and later escalated into inappropriate texts, images and physical contact. According to the report, Crins allegedly admitted sending the student inappropriate “sexting” messages. She allegedly told officers they included conversations about “having sex” or what might happen “when he turns 18”. Police documents also claim Crins sent the student images of herself in lingerie while he was …

Teacher Told To See What He Can Do For Senior Who Showed Up For The First Time Before The End Of The Semester

Teacher Told To See What He Can Do For Senior Who Showed Up For The First Time Before The End Of The Semester

A high school teacher shared the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back when it came to why he was quitting. Apparently, an episode of extreme truancy, something that’s very common among students nowadays, was completely ignored by school administrators.  In a Facebook post that was later shared on Reddit, a high school teacher named Brian Thompson explained that a senior on his class roster who hadn’t attended a single class all year finally decided to show up a week before the end of the year. But instead of being told by the administration that she would just have to fail the class, Thompson was told to do something to ensure that she’d be able to graduate. A teacher was told to ‘see what he can do’ for a senior who showed up for the first time before the end of the semester. Judge Dismisses Charges Against Ex-Administrator Accused After Student Shot Teacher

Judge Dismisses Charges Against Ex-Administrator Accused After Student Shot Teacher

A Virginia judge on Thursday dismissed all charges against a former school administrator accused of ignoring repeated warnings that a 6-year-old had a gun hours before a teacher was shot. Acting on a defense motion, Circuit Judge Rebecca Robinson issued the ruling on the fourth day of the trial of Ebony Parker, who was charged with eight felony counts of child neglect. “The court is of the legal opinion that this is not a crime,” Robinson said. The former assistant principal was charged in the January 2023 shooting at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News that left teacher Abby Zwerner wounded. Prosecutors had said the charges issued in a grand jury indictment were for each of the bullets in the gun brought into Zwerner’s classroom. Each count could have carried a maximum penalty of five years in prison upon conviction. “We had hoped the community would have had the opportunity to weigh in through the full judicial process,” Hampton commonwealth’s attorney Anton A. Bell said in a statement. “Nevertheless, the Court has now concluded the …

Mamdani fires back at Bezos over Queens teacher tax remark

Mamdani fires back at Bezos over Queens teacher tax remark

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani fired back on Wednesday at Jeff Bezos after the Amazon founder and executive chairman questioned whether raising taxes on billionaires would do anything to help working-class New Yorkers. “You could double the taxes I pay, and it’s not gonna help that teacher in Queens. I promise you,” Bezos said in an interview on CNBC earlier Wednesday. Mamdani responded on X: “I know a few teachers in Queens who would beg to differ.” Bezos, meanwhile, pushed for tax cuts for low-income Americans. He called for eliminating federal income taxes on the bottom half of earners, telling CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin on “Squawk Box” that the top 1% of taxpayers pay about 40% of all tax revenue, while the bottom half pay 3%. “I don’t think it should be 3%,” Bezos said. “I think it should be zero.” In 2023, the bottom half of taxpayers had an adjusted gross income of nearly $54,000 in 2023, according to the Tax Foundation, which is funded by conservative interests, citing the most recent IRS statistics. Households earning in the top …

A Teacher Is Quitting The Job Because Schools Don’t Let Kids Fail Anymore

A Teacher Is Quitting The Job Because Schools Don’t Let Kids Fail Anymore

In recent years, teachers have been expected to do more with less and less: fewer resources, less support, even less authority. However, for one teacher, her breaking point was solely about grading. After schools have all but abandoned consequences for skipping class and failing grades, she says that her personal values no longer align with the goals of the education system, and the only choice for her is to stop teaching. Kids are no longer accountable for their performance or their behavior. Students don’t need to apply themselves to pass, and that means teachers aren’t really teaching anymore. A teacher is quitting her job because schools are no longer allowing kids to fail. Torie Fowler, a high school English teacher living in Florida, posted a video explaining exactly why she’s choosing to leave teaching, and it’s because of a newer education concept called “course recovery.” These are programs where students who are struggling in their classes can make up credit through online coursework that is condensed to a few weeks. She specifically mentions one senior …

Fixing the teacher pipeline means looking at the joints

Fixing the teacher pipeline means looking at the joints

Each year in England, around a quarter of the people who qualify as teachers don’t go on to take up a post in a state school. They have invested a year of their lives in becoming qualified. And then they don’t teach. Why? This is one leak in what’s often called the leaky teacher pipeline. The metaphor is useful, but it can hide what’s actually going on. Sometimes the pipeline simply isn’t bringing enough people in at the top. Other times the leak is at the joints, where one stage hands off to the next They don’t all have the same cause. Across two new studies, funded by the Gatsby Foundation, we found leaks at different stages of the pipeline appear to need different fixes. Turning on the tap Teaching in England is a graduate profession, so undergraduates are the pool the next generation of teachers will come from. In the first study, we surveyed over 2,000 undergraduates in the UK and US, showing them pairs of hypothetical jobs that varied on things like salary, …

Former Teacher Convinced New Girl Is Actually About Her

Former Teacher Convinced New Girl Is Actually About Her

We all know and love the iconic, quirky, ukulele-playing teacher Jessica Day, the leading character in the hit show “New Girl”. She’s the perfect epitome of millennial joy in the early 2000s, embodying the spirit of all things “twee.”  For Micaela Blei, though, Jessica Day is more than just a character. While reflecting with her 16-year-old niece, Blei discovered serious parallels between her experiences in her early twenties and those humorously depicted in “New Girl.” She’s got the evidence to prove it, too. Teacher Micaela Blei may be an inspiration for Jessica Day from ‘New Girl,’ and her quirky experiences only prove it further. The idea sparked in Blei’s mind when she was sharing her life in New York City after college graduation with her teenage niece, and she immediately connected the dots. “‘Auntie Mookie… are you New Girl?’” Her niece said, according to Blei, in a now continued series about the “New Girl” coincidences. At first, Blei admitted that she was skeptical, but when she continued to reveal details, it became more obvious. During …

No CPF, no days off – but their top career choice is still to be piano teachers

No CPF, no days off – but their top career choice is still to be piano teachers

For piano teacher Clarisa Tan, there is no such thing as a day off. With anywhere from 35 to 40 students to see each week – ranging from seven-year-olds to adults – she adheres to a tightly packed class schedule. Her weekdays typically start at 1pm and end between 6pm and 9pm, while Saturdays are filled with lessons from 9.45am to 7pm. She “takes it easy” on Sundays, with two lessons. Her only rest days are when she falls ill. “I try not to teach on my birthday – like a little gift to myself – but I don’t always keep to it,” the 33-year-old said.  She left a career in law eight years ago to pursue piano teaching full-time. Despite her heavy workload, Ms Tan said that she remains highly satisfied with her job and sees herself sticking with it for another 20 to 30 years.  By comparison, the average job tenure in Singapore was 8.2 years in 2025, data from the Ministry of Manpower showed. In February, job-search website Indeed released its 2026 …

Teacher Blames Parents For Raising Kids Who Get Whatever They Want

Teacher Blames Parents For Raising Kids Who Get Whatever They Want

Teachers are reporting that students’ bad behavior has become a bigger problem than ever before, with many even leaving the profession over the frustration it causes. There’s plenty that this crisis could be attributed to, from the unstable learning environment created by the pandemic to increased exposure to questionable influences on social media. Some educators think they have discovered an even bigger contributing factor through their interactions with students’ parents. One teacher argued that the reason kids are so poorly behaved is that their parents aren’t disciplining them effectively. The teacher shared his perspective in a Reddit post and received quite a bit of support. “No, your kids aren’t just stubborn,” he insisted. “You’re raising a child with no boundaries. They get whatever they want and they know if they just whine, cry, and hold out [you’ll] give it to them.” Keira Burton | Pexels He feels like parents aren’t really doing their job at home, which forces teachers to do more than their job description calls for. “We the teachers are dealing with your …
