Charlize Theron Responds to Timothée Chalamet’s Ballet, Opera Comments

Charlize Theron Responds to Timothée Chalamet’s Ballet, Opera Comments

Charlize Theron is weighing in on Timothée Chalamet‘s earlier comments about ballet and opera, calling them “very reckless” and defending the art forms. In an interview with The New York Times published Saturday, Theron spoke about the physical and mental demands of dance while discussing her own experience. “Dance is probably one of the hardest things I ever did. Dancers are superheroes. What they put their bodies through in complete silence,” the Mad Max: Fury Road star said, prompting the reporter to joke, “Sorry, Timothée Chalamet.” “Oh, boy, I hope I run into him one day,” Theron replied. “That was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time. But in 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timothée’s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live. And we shouldn’t [expletive] on other art forms.” The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Chalamet’s reps for comment, but did …

New Footage With Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya Revealed

New Footage With Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya Revealed

Dune: Part Three opens with no shortage of firepower, as the CinemaCon crowd learned Tuesday. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa and director Denis Villeneuve took the stage at the Las Vegas event to discuss the sequel. They then unveiled the first seven minutes from the highly anticipated film during Warner Bros.‘ presentation. The footage featured Javier Bardem as Stilgar as he led his troops against a seemingly insurmountable enemy. The intense battle scenes featured an endless array of shots fired and plenty of actual fire. After those seven minutes, additional footage included Chalamet’s Paul Atreides confronting Zendaya’s Chani in a tense moment. “You’ve conquered the galaxy,” Momoa tells Chalamet in the new footage. “You’ve destroyed thousands of worlds.” This leads Chalamet to ask, “What are your thoughts on that?” to which Momoa replies, “I think you’re way beyond redemption.” Later, Zendaya asks Chalamet, “How does it feel to be human like everyone else, Paul Atreides?” In introducing the scenes, Villeneuve called the film a thriller and teased, “It’s more intense and definitely more emotional.” Chalamet …

Kylie Jenner Reveals Favorite Timothée Chalamet Movie in Rare Interview

Kylie Jenner is making rare comments about her boyfriend, Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet. Jenner appeared as a guest on Kid Cudi’s debut episode of the Big Bro podcast, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The rapper and Chalamet have been friends for years, after the actor frequently spoke about how Cudi’s music inspired him during the Call Me by Your Name press run in 2017 and 2018. During Wednesday’s episode — which is also Jenner’s second ever podcast appearance — Jenner and Cudi covered a range of topics, including her cosmetics brand Kylie Cosmetics, her acting debut in Charli XCX’s The Moment, her foray into singing and her experience navigating fame, to name a few. Of course, Chalamet also came up. The “Day ‘n’ Nite” singer asked Jenner what her favorite film of his is. “That’s hard for me because I feel like I really love them all,” she said, before adding, “but Call Me by Your Name is pretty perfect.” “And I really love the Dune [films],” she continued, also noting that she’s …

Why Ryan Gosling’s Movie Ignited Strong Debate

Why Ryan Gosling’s Movie Ignited Strong Debate

The popularity for Project Hail Mary continues to soar since its massive opening weekend at the box office, which has given oxygen to plenty of social media discourse. Ryan Gosling stars in directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller‘s sci-fi epic that surpassed $80 million domestically in its debut frame to represent Amazon MGM Studios‘ top opening weekend. With a script from Drew Goddard that adapts author Andy Weir‘s 2021 novel, Project Hail Mary centers on science teacher Ryland Grace (Gosling) teaming with alien pal Rocky in an desperate effort to prevent the sun’s destruction. With the movie’s release came a flurry of social media posts, as audiences debated everything one could possibly imagine to be a potential topic for debate. This included messages about the film’s quality, the book’s quality, the frequency and success of the jokes, its perceived political perspective, its positioning of the U.S. amid the global ecosystem, Gosling’s project choices and the directors’ track records, to name a smattering. “Anything that incites debate — especially if you have people who are evangelical …

How ‘One Battle’ Beat ‘Sinners,’ Jordan Overcame Chalamet

How ‘One Battle’ Beat ‘Sinners,’ Jordan Overcame Chalamet

An awards season that often felt like an endurance test — talk about one battle after another — came to an end on Sunday evening with the 98th Academy Awards. The results at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood confirmed that even though the Academy has changed significantly over the decade since it was rocked by #OscarsSoWhite — its membership today includes way more non-males, non-whites, non-Americans and non-AARP-members than ever before — the statistics that have long offered clues about Oscars outcomes remain dependable. Indeed, despite all the talk of a late Sinners surge, One Battle After Another still won the top prize, best picture, just as it did at every other notable awards ceremony this season — from the Gothams to the Golden Globes to the guilds, not to mention all the major critics groups, plus the BAFTA Awards — save for the Actor Awards (formerly the SAG Awards) two weeks ago. It was easy to get swept up in the excitement of Sinners’ best cast win at the Actor Awards — the reaction in the room was …

Michael B. Jordan’s Oscars Advice Mirrors Timothee Chalamet Slogan

Michael B. Jordan’s Oscars Advice Mirrors Timothee Chalamet Slogan

After winning best actor at the 2026 Oscars, Sinners star Michael B. Jordan offered encouraging words for other artists looking to sink their teeth into pursuing a passion. While speaking at the press room after accepting the Academy Award, the star was asked what this victory should signify to rising creatives. Jordan starred with a dual role as twins Smoke and Stack in Ryan Coogler‘s Warner Bros. drama that landed a leading 16 Oscar nominations before winning in four categories. “My father always told me, ‘Don’t expect anything to be handed to you,’” Jordan said backstage. “You do the work, and everything else will figure itself out.” The Creed star acknowledged that the Oscar represents “a pinnacle” of his industry and that it can be easy to feel competitive about winning one. He also added, “At the same time, what’s for you is for you, and you can’t listen to anybody else. I’m just walking my path. I would encourage other actors and other artists, no matter what their medium is, to try to keep …

Timothée Chalamet Loses Best Actor, With Kylie Jenner at Oscars 2026

Timothée Chalamet Loses Best Actor, With Kylie Jenner at Oscars 2026

Timothée Chalamet was front and center at the 2026 Oscars on Sunday night. Chalamet was nominated for best actor for his role in Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme. The A24 film stars the actor as Marty Mauser, a ping-pong hustler trying to make it out of Manhattan’s Lower East Side, where the movie filmed. The cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, Emory Cohen and Sandra Bernhard. Marty Supreme earned nine nominations in total. See the star-studded Oscars red carpet 2026 arrivals and the full winners list here. The film’s buzzy marketing campaign featured Chalamet in a satirical A24 marketing meeting, an orange blimp, the actor atop the Las Vegas Sphere, exclusive Marty Supreme jackets, an orange-lit Empire State Building and a surprise appearance by the star at a table tennis tournament in New York. The movie’s table tennis consultant, Diego Schaaf, told THR in December: “I really hope this gives the sport the breakthrough it’s deserved.”  While Marty Supreme proved popular with audiences and critics following its Christmas release, the actor was caught in …

Karla Sofía Gascón Trolls Timothée Chalamet Amid Opera, Ballet Backlash

Karla Sofía Gascón Trolls Timothée Chalamet Amid Opera, Ballet Backlash

The fallout from a misconstrued comment Timothée Chalamet recently made about keeping shared, in-person art experiences alive is coming to define the closing stretch of his best actor Oscar campaign, as fellow recent nominee-turned-pariah Karla Sofía Gascón is now weighing in on the controversy with her own humorous take. Chalamet, who has been promoting the hell out of his Oscar vehicle Marty Supreme this awards season, has swept up nearly every prize in his march toward what could be his first Academy Award win. But that campaign ubiquity may now be backfiring on the beloved actor after comments he made in conversation with Matthew McConaughey at a Variety and CNN town hall. The offending foot-in-the-mouth comment came while the actor was discussing the importance of cinemas and the collective experience of seeing films in theaters. At that point, Chalamet appeared to overstate the level of life support needed to keep ballet companies and opera productions afloat today, while also perhaps understating their popularity. “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera, or things …

Patton Oswalt Jabs Timothée Chalamet Over Ballet and Opera Comments

Patton Oswalt Jabs Timothée Chalamet Over Ballet and Opera Comments

The audience at the 73rd Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Awards got a kick out of Patton Oswalt‘s cracks regarding Timothée Chalamet‘s controversial remarks about ballet and opera. Hosting the MPSE ceremony Sunday in Los Angeles for the fourth straight year, Oswalt kicked off the festivities that celebrated sound design. The comedian’s monologue began with quips that called attention to the ongoing debate surrounding Chalamet having told Matthew McConaughey last month during a Variety and CNN town hall that he would not want to be involved in an art form that “no one cares about” and is struggling to stay alive, citing ballet and opera as examples. “Thank God we’re here to celebrate achievement in sound editing and not watching ballet or the opera,” Oswalt said. He added with a laugh, “Thank God we are actually watching something that deserves to be alive.” The jokes led to plenty of laughter from the audience, in addition to some groans. The host then noted, “He said it after they were done voting. He’s fine. He’s safe.” Although Chalamet …

Actor Awards 2026 Snubs, Surprises: Timothée Chalamet, Keri Russell

Actor Awards 2026 Snubs, Surprises: Timothée Chalamet, Keri Russell

Despite critical acclaim and early awards accolades for his starring role in Marty Supreme, Timothée Chalamet suffered his second best actor loss at a high-profile Oscar precursor award show in a week, losing the Actor Award to Sinners‘ Michael B. Jordan after losing the BAFTA Awards’ best actor prize to surprise winner Robert Aramayo of I Swear. Additionally, Marty Supreme overall was shut out at the Actor Awards. The film seemed like a strong performer among SAG-AFTRA voters when nominations were announced earlier this year, with the Actor Awards even nominating Odessa A’zion for best supporting actress, as part of the film’s three nominations, including for the top prize of best cast. Marty Supreme did, however, receive somewhat of a viral marketing moment with host Kristen Bell’s star-studded table tennis tournament, the winner of which received a trophy that resembled Chalamet. Marty Supreme‘s fellow three-time Actor Award nominee Frankenstein also went home empty-handed at the ceremony that streamed live on Netflix, which released the Guillermo Del Toro film. Despite going into the Actor Awards with …
