Men Who Can’t Stand Listening To Anyone But Themselves Talk Usually Share 11 Difficult Personality Traits

We’ve all heard complaints from our friends about their boyfriends or husbands who never seem to listen to them. It can even seem like men must be worse at listening as a whole. In fact, research has shown that men actually hear and interpret differently from women, with men listening with only one side of their brain while women listen with both. But there are some men who can’t ever seem to stand listening to anyone but themselves with any part of their brain at all, and that is usually far from their own difficult trait. These men are incredibly frustrating to deal with on multiple levels. It’s one thing if a man is truly eager to help you find a solution and can’t hold himself back, and quite another when he has absolutely zero interest in what others have to say at all. The Most Intelligent Person In Any Room Has 9 Obvious Traits

Even though we collectively believe we know what being smart looks like, real links between personality and intelligence are much more unexpected and complex. From openness to new experiences and conscientiousness, as a 2023 study explains, an intelligent individual’s personality is more nuanced than media portrayals and social media discourse allow. Even though our perceptions are misguided, the most intelligent person in any room still has certain traits that are obvious once you see them. The obvious traits found in the most intelligent person in every room:  1. They listen more than they speak Branislav Nenin | Shutterstock One of the most admirable traits about intelligent people is their ability to leverage quietness for good. Whether it’s embracing awkward silences in conversations for a moment to reflect and breathe or making people feel heard by offering them space to speak, they’re not afraid to sit back and actively listen, rather than dominate the spotlight. Especially compared to overconfident people with an illusion of knowledge, who tend to be louder and more obnoxious, high-IQ people stand …

People Born In The 70s & 80s Have 10 Street Smart Traits That Can’t Be Taught In A Classroom

Gen X and many millennials had incredibly unique, somewhat isolating childhoods that caused them to grow up fast. Unlike younger people today who grew up with overbearing parents and a constant stream of new technology, people born in the 70s and 80s had to look out for themselves. Because of this, they developed street smart traits that can’t be taught in the classroom (not that anyone really tried). All that time spent alone may sound sad to Gen Z or Gen Alpha, but it actually gave them multiple life tools that have only helped them thrive. They assess risk quickly MAYA LAB | Shutterstock.com Whether it’s building up the self-trust needed to listen to their gut instincts or having the social awareness to assess risk in public, Gen X and millennials learned these street-smart skills early. People With Neurodivergent Traits Have A Rare Social Superpower Says Study

People With Neurodivergent Traits Have A Rare Social Superpower Says Study

Historically, society has made the assumption that individuals with autism or other neurodivergent conditions lack social cues. This thinking has created a space where neurodivergent people are belittled or even infantilized.  Determined to discover the reason behind the misunderstanding, scientists have started to research the way the neurodivergent brain reacts within interpersonal relationships. A study conducted recently combats this idea of “lacking social cues” by presenting the idea that the disconnect is due to mismatched communication styles.  Those with neurodivergent tendencies communicate differently due to unique social processing. Neurodivergent people have often been categorized as “socially awkward”, with others assuming that it is due to a lack of theory of mind. The “theory of mind” is a term in psychology used to define our ability to understand what others are thinking and feeling as a cognitive resource.  However, being neurodivergent doesn’t stop you from comprehending others’ emotional states; you just respond to them differently.  Polina Zimmerman | Pixels The Double Empathy Problem highlights that neurotypical and neurodivergent people may not communicate as smoothly together because …

New study links manipulative personality traits to lower relationship intimacy expectations

New study links manipulative personality traits to lower relationship intimacy expectations

New research reveals that people with highly manipulative personalities hold lower expectations for emotional closeness in their romantic relationships, with older women showing the strongest negative association. But the findings suggest that existing views on love and attachment habits shape connection more heavily than negative personality traits alone. The research was published in Personality and Individual Differences. Developing deep intimacy is widely considered a cornerstone of psychological well-being. A supportive and trusting romantic relationship can provide a psychological buffer against life stressors and improve overall mental health. When individuals struggle to form these bonds, they often experience higher rates of loneliness and ongoing emotional distress. Psychologists identify three socially antagonistic personality profiles collectively called the Dark Triad. Narcissism involves grandiosity, entitlement, and an excessive need for admiration. Psychopathy is characterized by a lack of remorse, impulsive behavior, and emotional coldness. Machiavellianism describes a cynical worldview and a manipulative, strategic approach to interacting with others. People who score high on these traits often experience relationship difficulties. Past research links these tendencies to infidelity, low commitment, and …

Psychologists Share Six Personality Traits That Can Help You Live Longer

Psychologists Share Six Personality Traits That Can Help You Live Longer

There isn’t an exact formula for a longer life yet, though researchers think they have some pretty good ideas. Great genes, enough sleep, and a decent diet can go a long way if you want to reach 100, for instance. But some factors are less physical. For instance, one paper found that people who had a positive view of ageing may be less likely to experience age-related decline. And having a sense of purpose “appears to widely buffer against mortality risk across the adult years,” a 2015 paper found. Yet another paper, this time looking at data from 22,000 participants, found that “personality nuances were associated with mortality risk ”. Which personality traits might help you live longer? 1) Being active This self-descriptor was most linked to a longer life in the 2025 paper (27% lower mortality risk). Study author and psychologist Professor René Mõttus told The Guardian: “The word ‘active’ was the most striking. “Participants who described themselves this way were significantly less likely to die during the study period – with a 21% …

If A Woman Has These 3 Rare Traits, She’s Likely The Kind Of Person Men Fall Hard & Fast For | Rhonda Cort

If you are currently settling in one area of your life, you settle in other areas too. You’ve probably heard the saying, “How you do anything is how you do everything.” I unapologetically invest in, expect, and am open to receiving the best from life, whether it’s traveling, eating, coaching, education, or relationships.  And no, I was not born into a rich family. My parents immigrated to the United States and made their way, and I did too. There’s no reason you can’t strive for the same for yourself; you deserve the best in life, too. Part of a great life is finding a great partner to share it with, but that won’t happen unless you have (and nurture) the rare traits that make you a worthy partner yourself, and when it comes to being a woman men fall hard for, the adage is true: you attract the energy you give off.  If a woman has these 3 rare traits, she’s likely the kind of person men fall hard for: 1. Self-respect It amazes me to hear women go down …

Brain wave monitoring reveals how psychopathic traits disrupt trust and reward in social scenarios

Brain wave monitoring reveals how psychopathic traits disrupt trust and reward in social scenarios

People who score high in psychopathic traits are less likely to trust strangers and show distinct brain activity when evaluating social risks and financial rewards. An experiment using brain wave recordings suggests these individuals experience intense cognitive conflict when suppressing cooperative behavior and feel outsized disappointment when their expectations of a payout are violated. The research was published in the journal BMC Psychology. While popular media often portrays psychopathy as a trait exclusive to violent criminals, psychologists recognize it as a continuous spectrum present in the general population. Psychopathic traits include manipulativeness, a lack of empathy, a preference for self-interest, and impulsivity. Because these traits heavily impact how a person interacts with others, researchers frequently study how individuals on the higher end of this spectrum navigate social decision-making. Social interactions often rely heavily on generalized trust. Trusting a stranger is essentially a social gamble. If the other person honors the trust, both parties might benefit. If the other person acts selfishly, the trusting party might suffer a loss. Understanding how the brain weighs these outcomes …

How personality traits and attachment styles shape women’s reactions to infidelity

How personality traits and attachment styles shape women’s reactions to infidelity

Women’s reactions to an unfaithful partner may depend on a mixture of personality traits, attachment styles, and past relationship experiences. Research investigating these personal characteristics suggests that specific behavioral tendencies are linked to whether someone might forgive a cheating partner or stay in the relationship. The findings were published in The Journal of Psychology. When a romantic partner forms a secretive sexual or emotional connection with someone else, the betrayed partner often experiences immense distress. Infidelity is one of the most common reasons couples break up or divorce. For the partners who are cheated on, the discovery of deceit can severely impact their mental health. Women in heterosexual relationships are statistically more likely to experience a partner’s extradyadic affair. The aftermath of this deception can lead to episodes of major depression, anxiety, and a sharp decline in overall psychological well-being. Even if the couple decides to stay together, the betrayed person remains highly susceptible to enduring emotional pain. Researchers wanted to understand which personal characteristics might identify who is most vulnerable to these negative outcomes …
