On Sunday, the right-wing billionaire responded “true” to an X post highlighting Wilson’s recent modeling campaign that claimed that “if not for Vivian, Elon Musk never would have gotten involved, never would have purchased Twitter, Kamala Harris would be President and the Left-wing would have total instrumental control over the construction of Skynet.” Musk, 54, has previously been public about blaming the “woke mind virus” for Wilson’s coming out as trans and also inspiring his own far-right shift, which saw him become one of President Donald Trump’s biggest donors and briefly made him the head of the Department of Government Efficiency. …

Trump’s crackdown on trans healthcare extends into adulthood

An 18-year-old transgender college student tried to refill her estrogen prescription at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago. She was told she needed to wait until her 19th birthday. In Texas, a 37-year-old U.S. Army veteran regularly went to a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital for gender-affirming care, including therapy, wigs and prosthetics. Staff suddenly cut the services. And in Colorado, a 37-year-old scientist for the federal government planned to undergo transition surgery. She discovered her insurance would no longer cover it. A decade ago, these denials wouldn’t have been allowed. The federal government widely supported access to transition care. That changed last year when the Trump administration began issuing sweeping directives across the government banning or limiting treatments for people with gender dysphoria, which is the distress felt from a mismatch between birth sex and gender identity. Those who back restrictions on transition care — including conservatives such as President Donald Trump — say they are focused on protecting trans youth …

EHRC Trans Guidance Compared To Policies From 'Trump's America' By Campaigners

EHRC Trans Guidance Compared To Policies From 'Trump's America' By Campaigners

A transgender pride flag is displayed at a booth during Portland Pride on July 21, 2024, in Portland, Ore. (AP Photo/Jenny Kane) New guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission has been slammed by campaigners for being “exclusionary” and weakening wider LGBTQ+ protections. The equalities watchdog has ruled that single-sex spaces, like changing rooms and toilets, can only be used on the basis of biological sex. It states transgender people should instead use a third or a gender-neutral space. It also warns that leaving the community without access to any services or facilities would be unlikely to be proportionate and could be discriminatory. The EHRC’s delayed code of practice comes after the Supreme Court ruled that sex in the Equality Act refers to biological sex in 2025. Councils, NHS trusts and businesses had postponed updating their policies on how to accommodate for single-sex spaces while waiting for the EHRC advice. MPs and peers now have 40 days to raise their own concerns about the advice before it becomes statutory. However, campaign groups have warned …

HR 2616, a National “Don’t Say Trans” Bill, Passed the House. Here’s What It Is and What You Can Do.

HR 2616, a National “Don’t Say Trans” Bill, Passed the House. Here’s What It Is and What You Can Do.

Seemingly out of nowhere, a bill drafted in January 2025–House Resolution 2616 (HR 2616)–has not only been revived, but it’s also swiftly made its way to the United States House floor and passed in a vote of 217 to 198, with 15 abstentions. Eight Democrats crossed the aisle to align with their Republican colleagues, supporting a bill that would revoke students’ rights, autonomy, and access to books and information in public schools nationwide. Of course, the bill’s quick revival and passage isn’t actually a surprise. We’re in the days before a long weekend and the kickoff of summer, with gas prices nearly 50% higher than one year ago and the cost of living continuing to skyrocket. Pushing the conservative’s pet project of discrimination against children and queer children couldn’t be more apt. More specifically, a return to focusing on trans people and trans kids is par for the course in the run-up to a midterm election season where the GOP is doing all it can to retain power that it only holds through lies and …

Muslim woman in line for payout over NHS trans toilets policy

Muslim woman in line for payout over NHS trans toilets policy

A Muslim woman is in line for a payout from NHS England over a policy allowing transgender women to use female toilets. The employee, who has not been named, was working at Quarry House in Leeds in 2017 when the body adopted policies that allowed her trans colleagues to use facilities corresponding with their gender identity, rather than their biological sex, once they achieved “full-time presentation… in the new gender role”. Five years after the policy was implemented, the woman, who has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and holds gender-critical beliefs, was asked to attend a “trans awareness session” when a colleague transitioned. This prompted her to complain formally. The woman rejects any suggestion that she is “transphobic” and does not object to sharing non-intimate spaces with trans people – Imageplotter / Alamy Stock Photo The woman argued that NHS England indirectly discriminated against women, Muslim women, and women with PTSD caused by male sexual violence. Because of her faith, the claimant considered it “improper” to expose most parts of her body to any man who …

Trans Green Party candidate with no British visa elected to Holyrood

A transgender Indian immigrant has become the first person to be elected to Holyrood without a permanent visa to stay in the UK. Q Manivannan, who identifies as non-binary, was elected as an MSP on the Edinburgh & Lothians East list for the pro-independence Scottish Greens. It was reported earlier this week that the former PhD student has appealed to colleagues for £2,089 of funding for a temporary graduate visa. This would give the anthropologist and poet a further three years to work and live in the UK, picking up the taxpayer-funded MSP salary of £77,711. Manivannan is said to have told colleagues this would help buy time to save up the £5,047 cost of applying for a global talent visa, the UK immigration category for promising individuals in specific sectors. The self-described “queer Tamil immigrant” was only able to stand in the election after SNP ministers loosened the rules over who could be a Holyrood candidate. fierce pussy Says Venice Censored Biennale Posters About Trans People

fierce pussy, a collective of lesbian artists, said that its Venice Biennale contribution was censored by the Italian city ahead of the opening of the exhibition today. The collective designed posters for the Biennale that address queer people and trans people. The phrase “Welcome queers and trans people” appears in both English and Italian on one poster that features the beloved Lion of Venice sculpture, which the group rendered as a cat. Another poster features the words “we are queers and trans people” alongside a list of occupations, from “your mortician” to “your favorite newscaster.” The list culminates in the words “we are everyone.” Related Articles Composed of the artists Nancy Brooks Brody, Joy Episalla, Zoe Leonard, and Carrie Yamaoka, fierce pussy had intended to paste these posters across Venice. But, Episalla wrote on Instagram, the work ended up being “censored by the city.” “So we went, as per usual, rogue: made stickers – and hit the streets,” Episalla continued, posting images of small versions of the posters affixed to walls, windows, and spaces typically …

Madison Square Garden Reportedly Used Facial Recognition to Stalk Trans Woman For Two Years

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech In most privately-owned venues today, you probably take it for granted that AI-integrated cameras are tracking your every move. From casinos to concert halls to sports arenas, the degree of public surveillance we deal with is breathtaking. For the most part, the consequences of this kind of private surveillance — severe though they may be — are rarely felt at the individual level. Sure our data is tracked, gathered, and sold for a profit, but it’s not like there’s a big game warden literally hunting you on the other end of the camera. Unless, that is, you’re a random Knicks fan who found herself targeted by that bizarre surveillance apparatus. In a sprawling investigation into the surveillance panopticon at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Wired found that venue owner James Dolan regularly abused his facility’s facial recognition equipment to stalk and harass critics, naysayers, and anyone he could start a petty beef with. One of the main victims …

atom: The basic unit of a chemical element. Atoms are made up of a dense nucleus that contains positively charged protons and uncharged neutrons. The nucleus is orbited by a cloud of negatively charged electrons. blood pressure: The force exerted against vessel walls by blood moving through the body. Usually this pressure refers to blood moving specifically through the body’s arteries. That pressure allows blood to circulate to our heads and keeps the fluid moving so that it can deliver oxygen to all tissues. Blood pressure can vary based on physical activity and the body’s position. High blood pressure can put someone at risk for heart attacks or stroke. Low blood pressure may leave people dizzy, or faint, as the pressure becomes too low to supply enough blood to the brain. bond: (in chemistry) A semi-permanent attachment between atoms — or groups of atoms — in a molecule. It’s formed by an attractive force between the participating atoms. Once bonded, the atoms will work as a unit. To separate the component atoms, energy must be …
