TfL Tube Strikes May 2026: All Dates And Reasons

More Tube strikes are set to take place in London next week, bringing fresh disruption to commuters. Last April, Tube strikes took place as members of The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) expressed their unhappiness with a compressed work week that they claim Transport for London (TfL) are trying to “impose” on its members. For their part, TfL said the four-day change was completely optional. RMT’s latest strikes are planned in May and June, with the next ones being just days away. These “disruptions” have been planned for weeks. When are the next Tube strikes this May? Tuesday, 19 May (midday) until Wednesday, 20 May (midday). Thursday, 21 May (midday) until Friday, 22 May (midday). On its website, TfL said to take those start and end times with a grain of salt. It warned that disruptions are expected to continue into the afternoons and evenings following these periods. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, services will finish early. Previous advice recommended trying to finish your journey by 8pm on these days. Which Tube …

During April’s strikes, stations were packed with long queues as frustrated commuters searched for alternative routes home, with many turning to bikes to get around. E-bike provider Lime reported a 22% jump in trips on April 23 compared with the previous week, while Forest saw evening rush-hour rides soar by more than 50%. Moment predator who exposed himself to women on the Tube cries after being snared by police

Video footage has captured the moment a predator who terrorised women on a London train tells police “I’m regretting my actions”, as he is arrested. Ayman Yanoussi, 21, of Newham, exposed himself to several women on a station platform and on a District line train on the morning of December 28 last year. He was jailed at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday, April 16, for 14 months after previously pleading guilty to two counts of exposure, breaching a SHPO, and possessing cannabis. Footage published by British Transport Police of his arrest shows Yanoussi crying in the back of a police van, with his hands cuffed, as he reflects on his actions, telling officers: “I’m just thinking about what I’ve done”. Two weeks before the incident, Yanoussi was handed a Sexual Harm Prevention order (SHPO) for other sexual offences he had committed. In the video, Yanoussi can be heard telling police: “I’m regretting it”. Ayman Yanoussi, 21, was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to 14 months’ imprisonment (BTP) A court previously heard how Yanoussi …

What Are The 2026 London Tube Strikes About?

What Are The 2026 London Tube Strikes About?

So far in 2026, the transport trade union RMT has announced six strike dates for their members working on the London Underground (two each in April, May, and June). This week (20-27 April), that’s meant commuters have had to deal with delays, cancellations, and reduced service on multiple Tube lines. We’ve written before about where and when you can expect these “serious disruptions”. But why are the strikes happening in the first place? Why are the 2026 Tube strikes happening? They were announced after TfL offered some drivers four-day work weeks, which means that they can opt to work for longer hours over fewer days. Currently, most drivers work a five-day work week. The four-day version compresses their hours across fewer days. It’s being tested on the Bakerloo line at the moment. The Guardian said that another union body, Aslef, supports the four-day work week. But the RMT says that the plan TfL has proposed might impact the safety of their drivers and passengers, and that it could mean drivers only get 24 hours’ notice …

RMT union have planned the strikes for Tuesday, April 21, and Thursday, April 23, with both lasting 24 hours. The strikes are set to affect the Piccadilly and Circle lines most, with no service expected on either line. As of Monday, 20 April, we’ve now entered the “danger zone” for the planned strikes, which are due to start at midday on Tuesday, 21 April. Reports from Friday suggested that there were still “no formal peace talks” arranged between TfL and the RMT, leaving little sign of a last‑minute breakthrough. Tube strikes are often cancelled at the very last moment — sometimes with less than 18 hours to go before picket lines are due to appear. Because negotiations frequently continue right up to the “eleventh hour”, it’s not unusual for a strike to be called off while people are literally setting their alarms for the next morning.
