Coronation Street confirms casting of new character linked to Megan Walsh

Coronation Street confirms casting of new character linked to Megan Walsh

A new character is joining Coronation Street as part of the ongoing grooming storyline between Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) and Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale). Over the past few months, Megan has groomed her student Will Driscoll, and even fell pregnant with his baby. She and Will then bullied Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) into staying silent, though he eventually went to the police and she was arrested. At the time, there wasn’t enough evidence to charge her, until Will finally decided to talk about their relationship and was taken into custody. News then reached the cobbles that Megan had been released and in recent scenes, she attempted to make contact with Will. It was reported last month that Nixon will bow out of the soap, with details of her exit storyline yet to be confirmed. But there is more to come in the storyline, as it has been confirmed that Megan’s mother Janine (Melissa Jacques) is set to arrive in Weatherfield. Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) and Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon). ITV Speaking to TV Times magazine, Catherine …

The One Day You Were My Husband by Rosie Walsh

The One Day You Were My Husband by Rosie Walsh

Some novels begin with a body. in The One Day You Were My Husband, Rosie Walsh begins with a beach. A storm has just lifted, a half-loved Elton John song plays through tinny speakers, two newlyweds sway on damp Thai sand. By the time the candles burn out, the marriage is already over. The bride does not yet know it. That opening sets the temperature for The One Day You Were My Husband by Rosie Walsh, a dual-timeline novel that wears the clothes of a thriller while spending most of its energy on a quieter, sharper question: what happens to a woman after the worst night of her life? Walsh is interested in the after, not just the disaster. Twelve years on, Carrie Cole is a former surgeon turned mother of twins, tucked into a thatched cottage on Dartmoor with her solid, telescope-obsessed husband Robin. She has, by all visible measures, healed. She has also, by her own quiet admission, gone missing from herself. The premise without the giveaways I will only say what the …

Strictly bosses torn between Bradley Walsh, Rylan Clark or Johannes Radebe

Strictly bosses torn between Bradley Walsh, Rylan Clark or Johannes Radebe

Strictly Come Dancing bosses are torn between Bradley Walsh, Rylan Clark or Johannes Radebe to present the show. The trio are in the running to be one of the people to replace departed co-presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman on the BBC One dance show as TV bosses are keen to have a male presenter for the first time since Sir Bruce Forsyth. A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Bradley and Rylan have been tipped for the gig, but Johannes is a new contender. “All are very keen to land the role and offer a different perspective. “The intention would be to team the chosen man up with a female. It will be a return to the years when Tess co-hosted with Bruce, which was a very popular format. “The show’s executive producers feel Bradley has a similar style to Bruce — he can tell jokes, sing and has lots of charisma. “Rylan has a massive fanbase and used to host Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, while Johannes offers expertise.” Show bosses are said …

How to Write a Love Story by Catherine Walsh

How to Write a Love Story by Catherine Walsh

There is a particular kind of ache that lives in a house someone loved more than they should have. It seeps into the walls, pools in the floorboards, hums through the silence of rooms that once rang with laughter and the scratching of a pen. Catherine Walsh understands this. In How to Write a Love Story by Catherine Walsh, the Irish bestselling author of Holiday Romance and Snowed In delivers a romance that is as much about letting go of the dead as it is about choosing the living. It is warm and sharp, funny and gutting, and it might just be the most emotionally layered book Walsh has written to date. A Premise That Writes Itself The setup is deceptively clever. Ciara Sheridan is the daughter of Frank Sheridan, a legendary fantasy author whose nine-book Ravian series sold tens of millions of copies worldwide. When Frank dies, he leaves Ciara three things: a ramshackle estate on the coast of County Kerry, crippling financial pressure, and an outline for the tenth and final Ravian book …

Marian Keyes on The Walsh Sisters: “I never even considered that I would actually hate it”

Marian Keyes on The Walsh Sisters: “I never even considered that I would actually hate it”

The Walsh Sisters author Marian Keyes has said that she “never considered” the possibility that the BBC’s new TV adaptation might not be to her liking. Adapted from her books, the series follows a “dysfunctional, but deeply loveable” family comprised of five sisters, their devout mother and bemused father, all of whom are based in Dublin. The synopsis teases: “This is a sisterhood full of in-jokes, hand-me-down resentments and more than a few old wounds. “But their DNA, history and shared love of power ballads keep the Walsh sisters together in the face of heartbreak, grief, addiction and parenthood.” Keyes is attached to The Walsh Sisters as an executive producer, but told Radio Times that she certainly wasn’t protective over her source material, which she happily handed over to screenwriter and co-star Stefanie Preissner. Bradley Walsh Breaks Silence On Strictly Come Dancing Hosting Rumours

Bradley Walsh Breaks Silence On Strictly Come Dancing Hosting Rumours

Bradley Walsh is seemingly taking himself out of the running to host Strictly Come Dancing when it returns to our screens later this year. In November, The Sun claimed that Bradley was being “lined up” by BBC bosses to take over the Strictly presenting job, and he was later included on a shortlist of 10 names supposedly in consideration for the gig published by the tabloid. However, when asked about this during an interview with Radio Times, he seemed less enthused. The Chase host claimed: “Here’s a potted version of my winter weekends. I come home from the studio on a Friday, have dinner and watch I’m A Celebrity. “On Saturday, I’ll watch the football results, have dinner and a pint, watch Strictly, then I’m A Celebrity, and flip back to the BBC for Match Of The Day.” He continued: “On Sunday I get up late, watch some Columbo, then the football, followed by the Strictly results, then I’m A Celebrity, and then Match Of The Day. “If I was to host Strictly, it would …

View from Our Sofa: Bradley and Barney Walsh

Add Gladiators and Casualty to your watchlist What’s the view from your sofa? Bradley There’s a plain wall with a telly fixed to it, with lamps on either side. Seriously, it’s very traditional. Barney When I’m in Cardiff filming Casualty, the TV’s on a free-standing unit, there’s an Ikea fake plant in the corner, and a little painting on the wall. What have you enjoyed watching on TV recently? Bradley Barney’s my oracle. Originally he said we had to watch Breaking Bad, then he said we had to watch Better Call Saul, and now we’re watching Vince Gilligan’s new series… Barney …Pluribus. There’s also a comedy series I love called The Studio starring Seth Rogen, which is in my top five series of all time. It is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Gladiators is such a huge show, especially for family viewing. What did you watch together as a family? Barney When I was a kid there was nothing I loved more than sitting with Mum and Dad watching the telly. …
