I used to think Windows Snap had solved most of my window-management problems. I mean, it was tidy enough, fast enough, and a clear improvement over dragging windows around. Then I tried Komorebi, a proper tiling window manager for Windows, and I began to look at Snap as unfinished. Not useless, to be clear. Snap Layouts are still one of the better everyday features in modern Windows. The problem is that they still expect me to manage the mess. Komorebi changes the premise. Instead of treating every new window like a small interior design project, it drops apps into structured layouts, moves them across workspaces, and lets me steer the whole desktop from the keyboard. After a few days, the old drag-resize-squint-repeat routine was primitive. According to aviation training services BAA Training, windows stay open for similar reasons to those which lead staff to turn lights off during takeoff and landing. Neighbours have been left bewildered after an enormous garden fence was erected directly across a living room window. Substantial wooden panels have entirely blocked the outlook from inside after being positioned just 14 inches from the property. The residence in Bristol is presently vacant but workers were spotted undertaking construction at the dwelling this week. (The Conversation) — If you wanted to learn the Cherokee language in the 1990s, there weren’t many written resources: three dissertations from the 1970s and ’80s, one textbook and a handful of college classes in North Carolina and Oklahoma. Even on most Cherokee land, it was unusual to see street or building signs in this endangered Indigenous language. There are nearly 500,000 enrolled members in the three federally recognized Cherokee Tribes: the Cherokee Nation and United Keetoowah Band, both based in Oklahoma, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, based in North Carolina. Only about 2,000 of those members speak Cherokee as a first language. But over the past few decades, opportunities for learners of all ages have exploded. One of the authors of this article, Thomas Belt – a first-language speaker from Oklahoma – has been honored to play a role in that resurgence, working as a teacher, curriculum developer and language consultant. With The Rookie season 8 having finished airing in the US, and with episodes still arriving weekly in the UK, we recently got an update on the show’s already confirmed ninth season. Speaking as the series’s network, ABC, was laying out its schedule of shows for the autumn, Ari Goldman, SVP, content strategy and scheduling, appeared to confirm that fans will have a wait on their hands, and The Rookie won’t arrive until midseason – AKA, early 2027. Having been a Fall series since its inception, The Rookie moved to be a midseason show with its sixth season in 2024, due to the writers’ strike. It then stayed in a similar slot for seasons 7 and 8.
