There were a lot of viral moments at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards. Nikki Glaser taking shots at CBS. The Heated Rivalry boys making heated jokes onstage. Timothée Chalamet thanking his partner, Kylie Jenner, while accepting an award for Marty Supreme. Oh, and the Nobu sushi.
Yes, amid all the celebrity and the fashion, a thread dedicated to the Golden Globes’ dinner by chef Nobu Matsuhisa had its own highlight on X after a post featuring a photo of the menu from The New York Times’ Kyle Buchanan took off. To be fair, it was lavish: It included a caviar cup, lobster salad with spicy lemon dressing, salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, and Nobu’s famous miso black cod. And also to be fair, there wasn’t a carbohydrate in sight—a protein plate for the Ozempic era. Although rice could be found elsewhere: Other photos from Buchanan showed an alcove of à la carte sushi and spicy tuna crispy rice at The Beverly Hilton. (“The way they would have to wheel me out of there,” tweeted one user.)
Awards shows can be hit or miss for food, honestly. For every Nobu feast at the Golden Globes or catered Momofuku fried chicken served at the SAG Awards, there’s a sad snack plate at the Critics Choice Awards or, even worse, something vegan. (The main course at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards? King oyster mushroom scallops. With how famously boozy the Globes are, guests might have had to be wheeled out for another reason.) And on the internet, everyone’s a food critic. That aforementioned sad snack plate at the Critics Choice Awards went viral, as did a vegan meal served at the 2021 Met Gala after it was tweeted by Keke Palmer. “This is why they don’t show y’all the food,” she wrote.
But no need to call in the food critics this year—the Golden Globes eats seemed to pass the taste test.
